Doug with all the various posts regarding trailer tires, you should be an expert --- what say you ?
ST, LT, Greenball, Maxxis, etc etc ?

I'm getting ready to pull the pin on some new ones myself and the more I read the more confused I'm getting.

Of course it's RDP so that goes without saying :D

Not knowing how big your boat is, or wheel size, or how often you tow or where the boat is kept, it's hard to say. Although, having said all of that, go to America's/Discount tire and get the best ones they have for your wheel size. You can't beat their prices or their warranties and availabilty. Every tire I own has been purchased from them and they treat me better than good. If I have tire trouble on the road with someones boat, I just find a Discount tire and get taken care with no issues. The big thing with trailer tires, especially boat trailer tires is that they don't wear out, they just get old. Lots of tread left, but no life after about 4 years. The hotter the temp. where you keep your boat, the shorter the life of the tires. Out here in Havasu, I would say tire life is no longer than 4 or 5 years no matter how much tread is left. As far as brand, I'm not sure it really matters as long as you get the top model of that brand. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Retrieved this Howard from vacation at Lake Almanor. The family had a wonderful time. Tucked boat away in storage and is awaiting a good detail.

Pulled this bad-ass 33' Hallett out of Prestige Marine. Hauled it up to Lake Powell. This boat is running Illmores. Chris said it hauls ass for a big heavy Hallett.

hallett 335.jpg

Blasted back down to Havasu to pick up this perfect 26' Elininator Eagle, closed deck. This was a one owner boat and only had 80 hours on it. That best day saying, is pure BS. this guy was not having a "best day" experience watching his boat being towed away. I delivered to the very happy new owner in Renton WA.

eliminator 26 eagle to wa.jpg

eliminator 26 eagle to wa 1.jpg

Stopped off at Sun Country in Ontario and picked up this little 20' Bennington for the Lake Havasu store

bennington 20.jpg

And we have lost another cool boat. This 22' Cougar went to Canada. Horizon Motorsports finally sold it. I delivered it to the border in North Dakota right near the Minnesota state line. Montana, North Dakota, Idaho sure are beautiful this time of year. All the rivers are full of water and the deer are everywhere. It was a good trip.

When I was a kid we would spend 2 weeks every summer up there. I learned to waterski there behind a 19' Daytona with a blown 1000 hp motor. It was very, very loud and was not the most liked boat at that quiet mountian lake. It has changed alot over the years.

We did as well and would go trolling in our 18' Kona with a 455, always laughed at firing that thing up early with my Grandpa..Here I am skiing in 79 with Lassen behind me.

Love Lake Almanor and you usually don't see many boats like that Howard up there.

I'm at Lake Almanor right now. Going back home tomorrow, work for a day and then to the river on Friday.

Went over to Havasu Lake CA. to pick up this nice Cobra 270 Razor for Prestige Marine in Lake Havasu City AZ. That little place across the lake looks so close from the AZ side. Try driving it. It is 70 miles to get there by truck. Alot farther than you would think. There is a boat repair shop over there. The guy that owns it was more than helpful with some tire issues I encountered on the trailer. He was very qualified as he is certified in just about everything that pushes a boat. Just throwing out another option.

Havasu Landing area.

sent from a van at the waters edge.

Lol don't ever FedEx anything to that side of the lake. I sent a package overnight to a customer and 3 days passed and no delivery. I check the tracking number on FedEx's website and it says in transit. Call FedEx to get a status on the package and in the notes it says package dropped off at ferry and is at hardware store. Wtf? I thought I paid to get it sent to the address on the package? Wierd

As I was heading out of town to Boostpower, I get a call from AJ at Barrett Custom Marine. So I turn around to pick up this Mastercraft that belongs to one of his customers. I drop it off in Rancho Cucamonga and proceed to Boostpower.

Mastercraft AJ.jpg

On to Boostpower to pick up this bad MOFO. A 2010 (I believe) 24' Schiada. huge power, big outdrive. It was at Boostpower for some engine tweeking before heading out. Sad to say it is leaving the West Coast for a new life in Michigan. The happy new owner owns a Chevy dealership in Michigan. He and his family actually left an Aniversary party to come take possesion of the new boat. They were very excited to see the beast. We shared some friendly banter about how good the boat looked behind my Ford. He kept trying to put me in a Chevy, maybe next truck will be a Bow-tie. This Schiada is just the newest member of his aquatic stable. He also has a Malibu (rollbar boat) and a 1962 Howard flatty with a wood deck. (pics please). All in all, super nice family. The boat definitly went to a good home.

On a side note: Alexi at Boostpower is most definitly one of the "good guys". I had never met him and found him to be very personable and friendly. I think that he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I hope to do more business with him. He is "Good People."

Doug,

Connor here.

Thanks so much for getting the boat back here safely! It was great meeting you -- it was like meeting a celebrity because as I said...I have followed "Where's Doug?" religiously long before my dad bought the Schiada. I wish I could have made it out west with my dad and brother to look at the boat; meeting Lee, Stan, and Alexi would have been a dream come true (not taking anything away from you, of course)!!

Here are some pictures of the Howard -- you can see the Malibu as well. Both are great boats...but they are nothing like the Schiada. The thing is just amazing....putting it mildly.

The Howard was the first boat my dad took from california (the Schiada of course being the second). It was restored by John Miller and features a 468 BBC. It runs pretty good for an "old wood boat".

One more thing before I forget....

Sorry, but I think the Schiada looks much better behind a bow-tie than the blue oval :D

Again Doug, it was great meeting you and I wish you safe travels in all of your future adventures! I will be following the thread as always!

Hey Conner, thanks for the pics of the Howard. That boat is beautiful. So I hear you ruined your parents second weekend with the new boat. Something about moving you in to college. Damn kids.:D It was really cool to meet all of you. It is always more fun to meet the whole family. You can get a good feel for how they are going treat the new boat. No worries with you guys. You seem more like Havasu boaters than Easterners. Have a good time at school. I hope you brought along enough of the Perrin to hold you over. Thats some good stuff. Take it easy and learn alot.

This week was F-32 week. Picked up this beauty at Barrett Custom Marine. AJ topped off all the fluids and checked it all out before it got wrapped at OCM. It went to Oklahoma City. It seems this guy has had several performance boats including an F-32, but really wanted one with Illmores. This was the perfect boat, 710s with Indy drives. He was more than happy to see this beauty.

F-32 okc1.jpg

F-32 okc2.jpg

After dropping off the orange one I headed to Cumming Ga to pick up this one. Its rockin' a merc 700/nxt package. It also has an open bow with the intergrated cover to appear as a closed deck. Pretty cool. I dropped it off a the Islander Storage. I believe it is already sold. Dave(DCB) and Tim(OCM) I believe have worked a deal on this one. I hated to see the orange go East, but glad to see we got one back.

Finally have some time to post my latest adventures. After waiting about a week for all the bugs to get wotked out, I picked up this beautiful Eliminator 27' Speedster to deliver to Lake Norman NC. The happy new owner is a full time NHRA ProStock driver/owner. Shane Gray. It is powered by a Merc 700 with a #6 outdrive. He already has plans to put more power to this thing. (go figure) eliminator 27 speedster 1.jpg

eliminator 27 speedster 2.jpg

eliminator 27 speedster 3.jpg

eliminator 27 speedster 4.jpg

I was way early on the delivery and had to wait for him to return from the Indy race. The shop Mgr. Kevin Finney, formally of Earnhardt/Ganassi Motorsports, was more than accomadating. He gave me a complete tour of the ProStock shop,(Funny Car shop down the street) showed me all of the cool stuff, Dynos, CNC machines, complete head shop, This place is amazing.

shane gray shop 1.jpg

shane gray shop 1.jpg

shane gray shop 2.jpg

He took me to lunch, showed me around the lake a little, showed me where a couple of Nascar drivers live, pretty cool deal. I was even invited to go to the track with them the next day for testing, I was unable to do that as I had to blast up to New Jersey to pick up this nice 28 Fundeck (trade in) to take back to Eliminator. I see that it is currently in the fresh and salt water section here on RDP.

eliminator fundeck nj.jpg

In retrospect, I should have stayed and went to the track the next day and expereinced the testing session. That would have been Bad-Ass. After dropping off the FunDeack at Eliminator Saturday morning, went home and got to sleep in my own bed for 1 night, then blast off to OKC to pick up this F-32 that I just recently delivered. Apperently it has a trasmission problem, so I hauled ass back to Barrett Custom Marine in Lake Havasu City for repair before the DCB regatta at the end of the month. I was just glad I could help out the new owner of the boat so he will be able to enjoy the Regatta with his fellow DCBers.

Now for some much needed rest before the next adventure.

Bumper pull, I do not have the weight and yes permits would be required. I'm just looking for a rough idea on fee per mile.

Thanks!

It's been a very busy week. I pulled 167' of boats this week. The first one was a 42' Fountain. Picked it up from Antelope Canyon dry storage at Lake Powell. Dropped it off at Prestige in LHC Monday AM. fountian 42 1.jpg

fountian 42 2.jpg

The new road is now open from the 89 up to Page. It is 89T. Very nice road, not quite finished. They still have a few issues to take care of.

cows.jpg

It is still open range as they have not finished the fencing. Until the fence is done you can only use that road during daylight hours.

Back up to Antelope Canyon to pick up this nice M-35 to put in storage in LHC. I believe this one is going up for sale. I think this one is running Illmores, not sure however.

It is at 92,000 in 5 1/2 months. the only thing I have replaced is the front wheel bearings. they were not packed real well and just did it to be safe. Other than that, no problems at all. Just keep changing the oil and servicing the trans. The front brakes still have 70% remaining on them. I find that to be amazing.

I'm hooked up to this bad boy right now. Getting ready to put it in the water for Gene. Note the totally capped hull. This thing is fantastic looking. I have been told it is rocking a custom built 1000 hp beast of a motor. Should be a good time. I personally think it looks better behind my truck than the owners.:)

I brought this magnificent Donzi in yesterday from San Diego. Dropped it off amongst some realy nice stuff at the Nautical. The boat is registered for the poker run, should be a pretty good runner with Merc 700s and NXTs.

View attachment 265475

This Fountian, I will be launching and retrieving this weekend. It too will be in the poker run. This thing is immaculate for a 1998. Its runnig HP 500s.

Now I am off to move a Howard into the street fair. Hope to see some of you peeps out today.[/QU

Have the neighbors asked what you do yet? they have got to be wondering why the house always has really nice random toys in front of it.

Back from the Michigan/Florida trip. Not quit the normal bad ass boat, but totally bitchen all the same. Picked up this very nie trailer in Three Rivers MI. Towed it to Sanford Florida for a custom fit rack to be installed in it. What goes in the rack you ask?

View attachment 282567

This goes on the rack. This a 13' long turbine jet powered remote controlled plane. This thing is so bad ass I ran out of explitives when I saw it. It is reported to fly over 200 MPH land speed. I don't know what that computes to in scale speed. I delivered it to it's owner in Havasu this morning. He is going to fly it out of Sara Park, so be on the look out.

Then up to OCM in Portland to get this nice Spectre Vendetta. This is one cool 30' boat. The bottom looks like this thing would haul ass. Tim at OCM here in Havasu, where I dropped it off, says it works very well. If your in the neighborhood, its worth the time to go check it out.

I met the whole family, wife and 3 sons. That poor woman is going to have a heart attack. the 2 older boys are already racing. The oldest had been racing Motocross and suffered a severe injury and is now going to race cars. The middle one is also going to race cars and the youngest one is not yet old enough. The whole family is a great group.
