Just so you guys know……. My news is reporting that many cell phone towers and overall cell phone service has been effected in certain areas. Just a heads up for those of you having trouble connecting with friends and family.
Pretty much, I actually logged into Facebook to try and calm the family down. I said bombarding with phone calls will not help the situation. If someone hears something to just post it up in the Facebook thingy.

Josh I'm sure you already know this, but according to boots on the ground doing search/rescue they are using ham radio/SARNET for comm. Cellular communications appear to be down. I sure hope your Gma is ok, and just can't get a call out.

This is what happens when you have a governor that "works for the people"!

Hats off to Desantis for the way he is handling this!! Putting politics aside and asking for help!! He needs to be our next president!

How are You holding up??
I ran out of mental gas yesterday around 5:30pm. After only 3 hours, if that, of sleep from the night before. I was mentally and physically exhausted.

Today….. I feel well rested.

My phone keeps going off with offers to move yachts on West Coast and help with salvaging. Me and several other captains might go help. We are still in the planning process, and this may or may not come to fruition. If it does, we will fly by private plane into Ft Meyers area, later today. I am packing my “Ditch Bag” now.

Wonder if there's any repeaters up online that I can link up to. That's a really good point. Ham radio guys a pretty nerdy, but Ham radio is necessary, I'm also a nerdy Ham radio operator lol

I just can’t imagine having a yacht like some pictured and not making an effort to get it out of the way of the storm?

Insured and time for a new boat?

I'm guessing insurance is higher than a giraffe's pussy out there. It's quite a bit higher out here in TX when compared to CA. Multiple $100k vehicles on my street that don't fit in garages and when I bring up hail storms, they ALWAYS say it's insured, and they aren't worried about it.

Saw some pictures yesterday of aircraft on top of each other. That makes even less sense.

Based on the storm, they had no place to go.
The window to go south and get into Miami was very short and the entire west side of FL was at risk. No time to get them up north away from the forecasted storm path.

believe that was near miami and it was sudden tornado that did the damage.
It was in Broward County. I think near Plantation. It was 1 of 8 tornados that touched down in my county. The airfield probably being the most significant, of all the damage.

As a side note…… When the tornados were happening, my wife and I wondered if we would even notice. Would it just feel windier? Since it was already blowing like crazy. How can you tell when a tornado hits when you are already in a hurricane? I don’t know either. Lol

I saw that the bridge to Sanibel Island is structurally damaged. They're using helicopters to evacuate.

That's going to take awhile to rebuild.

There’s no GA airport in Plantation.... maybe you’re thinking Pompano by the Goodyear blimp hanger?

I could never leave my airplane ( or Boat) out overnight, with thunderstorms in the area. But I’ve had to, when I’m traveling overnight, and no space inside the FBO hangar.
It’s insured, but to replace it, almost impossible today….

This hurricane is so big, to relocate, they would need to fly to Alabama, if they were in flying condition. Then find an airport with enough space. I’ll bet those airports are getting $50+ a night for a tie down, making others fly further away, as they fill up.

Your link is probably the best site I’ve seen yet as far as seeing the damage on one site.

Great post.

Holy crap!! There are rumors that the 2025 SCCA run offs will be at Daytona. I cant imagine how bad that would suck towing across the country for this BS.

This years is taking place right now at VIR. Rain hits later today I think. First race starts tomorrow in the rain..Sucks!

Reports so far no flooding at my parents house just by looking inside... No photos yet, just the neighbors checking on it.

Only noticed physical damage is the lanai, if so then they lucked out being in Cape Coral.

We will be driving down starting Saturday... Should take 3 days, will push going non stop if we can.....

Boats, cars, homes, buildings are devastating for those who suffered. Loss of human life is far more important - hoping for the best - fewest deaths and injuries but scared to learn about the numbers

Load up with as many gas cans as you can haul. When we returned back to CC from GA after Irene hit there were no gas stations that had power. The ones that had power had no gas. We pulled into home with 32 miles till empty showing on the dash.

Hopefully they are ok. I know power is out and cell towers are probably down too.
Thanks. She is going to call the local PD and see if they are able to do welfare checks yet. He is not responding to phone calls or internet messages.

I'll be praying for the best, it's still radio silent from my family in Naples. There's been a few posts from some friends in Naples and Ft Myers on the Facebook.
