Pink and purple are what's in right now.....don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

lol. About 15 years ago I had a boat with metallic flake paint. Guys used to talked shit because it was metal flake. Calling it a bass boat. Then a few years later DCB started selling boats with the same paint. It's always funny how paint colors and themes come and go but I do t think pink and purple with ever be the shit again.

Metal flake is the shit [emoji106][emoji106][emoji202]. Real men can have purple on their boat [emoji41]

Black rub rail, coordinates with the black motor, tires, windshield etc

That's a good idea. You think black instead of dark blue? I was going to have everything powder coated the darkest blue on the boat.

Black. Unless you get an exact match blue, but I think the black looks good with the merc

Calling him this week [emoji106]

Don't use the screws Jay gives you. Get 21 1" 8/32 S.S. Pan head bolts and 2 1.5", with poly locks and fender washers. Then oblong the holes because it won't line up perfect but it's a great fit for $699.

So glad your happy with the results. Wished I could have been there when you picked it up. We still need to get you the rub rail for the top of the trailer.
Btw. The boat looks amazing.

I didn't do the cap now. I was at the end of my gel budget. I might cap the front if I have the gel redone on the bottom.

What's your guys thoughts on powder coating the hatch hinges and the bimini top mounts? Will it not hold up?

They're all powder coated by Dana, Eddie Etc. Dana isn't around anymore but the new place in Anaheim can get them powder coated for you. It's definitely the way to go.

Depending on which hinges you have, they could be made out of stainless and not aluminum. Same with the Bimini mounts. Dana and Eddie both anodize the aluminum products and Eddie created his own version called Fusioncoat. It's supposed to be similar (Possibly better?), to anodizing but I haven't tried it out. Powder coating those smaller pieces could close the tolerances enough to pose a problem depending on the product.

If its stainless, I would polish it. Aluminum I would anodize but it will chip and fade over time. It's all up to you what you want to do.

The bimini and hatch hinges are stainless. The hatch hinges were perviously powder coated but the bimini mounts were not. I have a shop to do the powder coating I just want to hear your thoughts on coating them.

Sorry Dave, what I meant is that "Dana" is no long around. You have to take it to John at Marine Industries West. He does a great job and does it in house.

BTW - Be careful with having a non boat shop do your powder coating. There are additives that they use in powder coat to improve UV protection and give it long life. Not all powder coats are the same. The "boat guys" typically pay a little more for their powder to be sure that it can stand up to boat applications. That's what they sold me on anyway! I heard it from a friend in the business as well as a couple of different coaters.

Check with your coater to be sure that he uses top quality powder for long life. Just a comment. Hope it helps.
