Looking forward to more progress. [emoji106] [emoji106]
Getting it picked up in the A.M. Going to start stripping it down for a complete rebuild. I'll post pics as we go. Stay tuned. It's going to turn out bad ass.
[emoji106]BUDMAN picked up my trailer yesterday to freshen her up. Thank you Paul! Pre repair pics.

Drink beer and work on your trailer. [emoji482] [emoji41]
I've been around and around with the Daytona's, had Evinrude 4.0 V8, Seccond Effort Mods, was a bad ass, but was hard on the gear cases.
I removed it and went Merc 2004 280 15" ROS, the V8 was a bit faster, the Merc handled better lighter...
Now in my newer Daytona it came with a clean 260, heads, chip, flywheel, ext.. Best it did fully loaded was 82.
I changed out that engine for a New DBR 280 15" running 260 efi and 56# basically a 300+ hp bad ass engine, best was 96 light...
Same boat with a XS will do 105 all day long...
2.5 stuff is getting harder to get clean parts.
But they are great engines.
DBR Joe is building me a 300x to the max...will see when I get back and play with it, but I heard already it's a beast!!
Getting close...looking good!
Holly crap. Those are some horrible welds. Glad they are making it right.

That's why there was so much filler in those mid 90's competitive trailers. Mine is the same wayTrailer still needs love. I'm not very happy with the way Competitive built this trailer. View attachment 488857 View attachment 488859 View attachment 488860 View attachment 488861

This thing is turning out bitchin' :thumbsup
Agreed, this is turning out to be a great looking boat! I can't wait to see how she looks sanded and buffed! Nice job to all who are involved!
Next is powder coat and a new windshield. I still need to decide on the rub rail.
Powder coat mine?
New white plastic one?
New ss ones?
If you capped front and rear I'd say stainless. Either way, stainless will really pop the blues.
The plastic always looks cheaper than the others for whatever reason. Looks big and clunky. Mines anodized and fading, looks like shit. Most likely I'm going to cap the front & rear and then powder coat mine black.
Can't wait to see yours buffed and polished. I'm sure the rubrail decision will be a lot easier once they do.
I have the faded rub rail that came on it. I was just going to have it powder coated. I thought about capping the front and back but I'm already over my gel budget and didn't want to add another $1900.
I don't blame you. The costs add up fast. What color were you going to powder coat?
Think of it this way...in a year you won't remember the 1900...you're going to have it a long time...go half cap and stainless!I have the faded rub rail that came on it. If you aren't capping it and the old rubrail is in good shape, just faded..... I'd have the old one powder coated and new vinyl insert put in. I think it would look 1000x better than a white plastic one.
And I'm $3000 over on my gel budget as it is.
I didn't even know a re-gel would cost $3000.
Trailer looks like it's coming along nicely...2 guys have been working on it for a while now
