Our new XX front diff parts came out killer. Arctic Cat spider gear backorder is killing me on selling these right now. Been able to cobble a few together over the past few weeks though. So far so good.

I don't have a working relationship with Polaris. Not showing anything different than what I already post on my Instagram. Polaris guys actually started contacting me directly after my instagram posts. We'll see where that relationship goes.

Since I post most of this stuff on my instagram, I figured I might as well add to the post count here. I am sure Dave appreciates it. I'll chalk it up to paying back my debt to him after giving me a cold Coors Light at one of the Desert Storm street fairs some years back (I guarantee he had no...

    Speed UTV take 3

Randy, you need to come talk to me at the Mint. I know you guys get a racer deal from Polaris, but there is no reason to keep replacing those parts if they are properly prepped and maintained up front. A conversation doesn't cost anything, unless you want to bring me a beer!

    Speed UTV take 3

No, not really. Front diffs have an issue with the ring gear bolts backing off, which eventually causes the ring gear to break the bolts and spin on the diff carrier. Some guys weld them, but then it's a pain or impossible to grind the welds off to remove the bolts for service. I got crafty and...

    Speed UTV take 3

Answer: Gears break when they aren't heat treated properly, or not to spec, or with improper material. I have not seen the heat treat spec sheet on these, nor have I seen the broken gears back here yet (should see them this week), so I cannot say what the exact issue is just yet. The gears in...

    Speed UTV take 3

They will destroy rear axles and CV joints. Too much power, tire size, and speed to keep those CV joints together. I helped replace RJ Andersons rear axles after the first lap of the Thursday race. Front diffs will fall apart from the factory unless properly prepped. Wet clutch in trans that...

    Speed UTV take 3

Gear fails, then wedges the gear bits between the teeth forcing the shafts apart, which loads the case and breaks it. Cases are not cause, just collateral damage.

    Speed UTV take 3

I am not 100% positive, but I highly doubt any of the new gears are here yet. It was less than a week since we pointed the finger at heat treat. It would have taken a miracle to get new parts cut and heat treated in that amount of time. That would have been one of the transmissions that we took...

    Speed UTV take 3

We all know Robby, and his way of "marketing". LOL. I am just trying to keep everyone informed of what I see as an objective insider. I have no loyalties to any one brand (edit: I guess I do with Speed since I had a small hand in developing them, but I will gladly do what I can to improve any...

    Speed UTV take 3

Here's another little fun fact: The Pro-R has been around since before the 1st deposit was taken on any Speed UTV, and they are still having drivetrain issues. I just fixed/prepped (3) complete sets for the hammers this week. Doug Mittag just got 2nd place in his first real desert race in that...

    Speed UTV take 3

I guess I'll dip my bloody toe in this shark infested water... I don't speak for Robby or Speed UTV, so I won't go into detail, that is on them. Believe me when I say that this is getting handled in real time. We know exactly what failed and why. The failure was not due to any design or...

    Speed UTV take 3

Been through both front diff and rear trans multiple times for check ups, all will be good under normal conditions. Maybe in a few years when I actually have time to make one.

    Speed UTV take 3

I already have transmission and front diff seals and bearings in stock when needed. RG and I talked the other night about getting me some hard parts (gears, dog rings, shift forks, etc.), I still need to send him a list of what I want here. He made it sound like it's just a matter of giving him...

    Speed UTV take 3

Considering that every brand of mass produced UTV made over the past 10 years have had their share of junk parts and failures, and people still enjoy them, I can pretty much guarantee that 95% of people that receive these Speed UTV's will see and appreciate how much better they will be compared...

There is much more to the UTV transmissions having issues than just oil. Give me a ring to discuss if you want. Sean at Weddle: 805-562-8600

Who pissed off the boat builders ?

This is a direct issue involving our business as well (Weddle Industries). I was on various other forums before I worked here and asked the owners why they were not involved with those sites. Their response was, and still is that they are tired of arguing with people that have no idea what they...

Goleta/Santa Barbara housing or place to park RV

You're pretty well screwed here. I live in Ventura and commute to Goleta every day, about an hour each way unless someone DNF's in the construction zones, which are in a permanent work freeze as far as I can tell over the past 10 years. There are plenty of "mobile homeless" that move their...

Speed cars hit the assembly Line

Can't really be compared to any other manufacture since they don't have any gears as high as 3rd gear will be in the Speed. Bottom line is that it will be harder on the belt as the CVT has to work much harder to accelerate the car in a higher gear. Think of having to put a manual car in high...
