So for the last year or so we are not seeing near the coverage from the builders over in the boats out of the mold forum? Is it the whole covid reset , is it lack of time ( i get it) or did someone piss off the manufacturers. Tony I really miss your posts and updates , same for eliminator and a few others. Anyway I always thought it was one of the coolest sections on Dave’s sight. I loved the transparency they showed and the fact that it was not all hidden behind curtains and mirrors. I know they are still building boats. COME ON BACK GUYS I for one miss the posts.

It’s a two way door. Opening up on the build process is a time consuming process and also serves to highlight labor and parts issues at this point. Almost better for business not to air the issues.

It seems quite a few are busy, leadtimes being months if not a year for some manufacturers.

For me it doesn’t seem that builders are bringing innovation out, now it’s just doing the same builds over and over with a change in colors and not much else. Everybody’s doing the same interiors and the builds mostly seem to be trending to outboards.

Maybe Dave can modify the builds section to just be posting by manufacturers (or the thread starter) only and no comments are allowed. Then they can put the details in without said keyboard warriors criticizing color choice or do this not that?

I know sometimes kudos are nice but if we’ve lost content then maybe this change might help.

I believe it was that way but maybe it changed with the new software.

It’s hard enough keeping a client happy let a lone an internet know it all.

Ask @ka0tyk why anyone doing anything would want to try to showcase it here. Just to be told you are doing it wrong, it will never work, you will kill yourself and your family, and you are a menace to society.

If you want better content we need to start policing ourselves and call out the slugs for complaining about something that they could never do themselves and point out that is not their product or work and they have no business to complain about it in the first place.

Make it a value add to share content here, not a detractor and you’ll get more cool boat content.

Same thing happens to realtors here.

I asked Mark at Eliminator the same thing and his response was he/they got frustrated with the "key board warriors".
This is a direct issue involving our business as well (Weddle Industries). I was on various other forums before I worked here and asked the owners why they were not involved with those sites. Their response was, and still is that they are tired of arguing with people that have no idea what they are talking/typing about. It's tiring to keep proving people wrong that have no idea what they are talking about.

I made it a point to explain to the owners that they are missing out on the opportunity to correct the bad information. They have allowed me to come on these open forums and advertise myself as "Sean at Weddle" to try and combat this exact problem. I take an approach where I try not argue with anyone, but I will correct someone's incorrect information and back that up with proper information. (Almost a full time job over on Glamisdunes.com, LOL).

It is very easy for people to type their opinions without showing anything to back them up. Once that bad information is out there, the business has to deal with the frustration and headaches that come along with customers calling them up saying: "I read this about that on forum X, what should I believe?". We then have to explain to the customer that what they read is completely wrong and why.

That only covers those that actually call the source and are open to an opposing explanation. There are countless other people that read these posts and automatically believe that info to be the truth. Those are the missed opportunities where a potential customer receives bad information and then never pursue that business for their potential needs.

It is my belief that most people are not intending to post bad information, but they post what they think they know, without having the full experience to make an informative post. Then there are those that simply "Shit post" to stir the pot. Can't do much about them but understand who they are and ignore.

If you guys want to have more interaction with the people on the "inside" of these companies that you are interested in, have a little tact in your replies and keep your stronger opinions to the campfire or back of the boat conversations with your buddies. Maybe some of these guys will come back and show off some cool shit for everyone to see.

If you see a paint job you don't like ,or think an engine/drive choice is junk, just let them be. Move on and take your business elsewhere. Business who offer crap will usually end up in the shitter on their own recognizance.

I’m not sure why you are banging on Ka0tyk?

I know years ago I posted a pic of a Hallet build. He noticed a drill motor set on someone’s seat, no coaster, so to speak.
This was back in the Nick days.
I explained to him it was a valid concern, but Nicks shop is spotless. No dirt, no dust, as clean as could be.
Pointed out some stuff in the background that confirmed my position.
If you had never been to the shop you just wouldn’t know. Nick was a clean freaks clean freak!

He recognized it after pointing it out, and I’ve seen some of the stuff the guy has done.
He could make a living in the resto world I think.

Lighten up, Orange Francis😂

Im not banging on him at all. If you caught his Prevost bus to RV thread and the comments from the RDP peanut gallery firmly perched on their couch you’d know what I mean.

The unwashed masses sucked the life out of his desire to share anything about the build.

Don’t blame the manufacturers at all. I have good friends that have lurked for the last 10 years for the same reason. Others used to regular contributors but stopped. (Too bad, he has some really cool stuff).

Inmates on a build thread😁

Amazing work. Epitome of dumb criticizing someone’s work on something you’d never be able to accomplish yourself.

Constructive criticism is one thing. The reason these builders don’t bother adding content is another.

Sean was very helpful as well as Weddle when I had some problems with my Albins in my sand car.

And I really appreciated it.

Their advice and their time spent on here as well as builders from multiple industries are invaluable. People on here (mellow yellow) diagnosed and helped fix my pool pump problems unseen and when I offered to send him some booze was very gracious and said no worries. Taboma gave me invaluable electrical advice while building my shed. And many others have been equally really helpful.

We should all work to do in words and deeds all we can to support them in whatever industry they are in. It’s really helpful and what makes a good community.

Even when I post on other threads, I have to remind myself not to respond to negativity in replies, and I’m nobody - I can imagine how the builders feel.

It’s one thing when a 3rd party brings something up. And everyone bickers about it. Speed thread for example 🤣.

When an individual or company brings something up to show off what they are doing, it is quite different.

Sunday night my wife and I went to the Joe Bonamassa concert at the Fox theater. 1500 seats, intimate and sold out. He opens with a couple real barn burners before speaking to the crowd. He then says very little, but he does say "look out I'm in a real mood tonight." Later during slow, tasty solos some guy in the crowd keeps "whooping" and you can tell it is irritating Joe. There was another guy that kind of heckled him too. After about the 4th "wooo" he throws up his hands and unstraps his guitar, and proceeds to walk off stage. He came back after about 10 seconds but he was visibly angry. Everyone in the place knew what was happening.
Then on Monday I read that he had announced that he was leaving all personal social media because of something some idiot said about his hairline. Apparently it was the proverbial straw that broke the guitar player's back. He said the trolls just make it not a fun thing to do any longer.

Jack White also announced last week that he was leaving Twitter. But that was because they have allowed Trump back on. LOL

I brought it up because it was eye opening to me as a career fabricator to see how things I Am intersted in get built, and to watch the inner competitiveness that drives new boats and designs to reach new levels..If the reason we are not seeing the builds posted as before is ( negative , abusive comments) then shame on thee..
NOW I am going to be the "OLD GUY ON THE SOAPBOX" everyone on this sight ( I hope) would help a fellow RDP'er out on the water , It's why we are here to meet and communicate , share stories and life with a bunch of people that share a passionate common interest with the hopes that we will all meet sometime on the water and have that bit of a bond.. The fact that there is so much non-positive energy in certain posts changes the dynamic of what I think Dave set out to accomplish..I have a few people in my life that refuse to scroll past when something is not to there desire.. those people get less and less of my time.. Sports and sport team arguments are not included .....So if you cant scroll past without making a negative comment or if you just cant sleep if you dont get the last word in just STOP IT I want the builders back..I love learning and this place should never get any of us stressed out as we have the Dem's ,family, idiot drivers ,new boaters and work for That... can I get a amen !

Who the hell do you think you are, bringing that nonsense up in here?!?

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Just giving you crap!! A good example of someone who always did a good job with updates was Shueman. I miss him and his updates on RDP.

I know Todd at Tahiti is constantly giving updates on his builds, as are the guys at Advantage. They arent as frequent as I'd like, but I also don't know how many new boats they are building. Gelcoater does a good job of sharing info too. I think there is a TON of knowledge on here, sometimes you just have to go looking for it. Lenman comes to mind. Talk about a wealth of knowledge and talent!!! Guys like him, 025, Barry Obler, etc. Not necessarily "Builders," but they are as talented as you'll find.

i think where people screw up is when they engage a person and try to prove them wrong even though you are right as its your product, but to the other person they dont see it htat way and they feel their opinion is all that matters. once you engage that argument you are going to lose, so why start it? just post the correct info for your product and resond to the praise or legitimate questions on product but ignore the trolls. i know.. easier said than done alot of the time.

Then you just let misinformation out there for all to read forever about the product that you never responded to.

So it goes back to why bother in the first place. You were better off not sharing anything.

i didnt notice the negativity, thought everyone was pretty positive.....i stopped posting because there were no updates from the original posts and nobody was manning the keyboard for replies to questions🤷‍♂️ that is where i saw the few instances of negative talk, the non answered questions......other than that, i didnt think it was bad at all........covid didnt help, nobody wanted the covidians blasting us for still working, even though most of us werent even close enough to eachother for a photo bomb🤷‍♂️
i have been thinking about starting again, but we dont have a dedicated salesman to man the keyboard for updates or replies.....ill get with ron and see what we can do, give me 2 weeks😁

Why do you think most Youtube vid's are "Comments off"?

It's the internet and a public website. Of course every idiot with an opinion will abuse it, many seem to get off on it.

Gotta have a thick skin. Or disable comments.

Same with Str8up trader. Lots of comments off. I won’t lie. Makes me wonder why every time.

Str8uptoytrader turns comments off because they know the seller will get roasted on their prices.
There’s definitely that. There are quite a few that you can tell there’s a good chance at getting killed on colors/bolt ons. Others where they seem to be hiding something IMO

I don’t recall seeing too much keyboard warrior-ing in that section(as mentioned before, Dixxon fundeck comes to mind).

My personal guess, many manufactures are out 6mo to a couple years if you ordered today. I don’t think many of them are actively trying to sell boats(boat show turn outs prove that). Why waste your time posting and strumming up business when you already have too much?

I could be wrong though. Either way, that was my favorite section before it fell off. Hope it comes back to what it was!

it is not the negativity.......we dont have a guy that is dedicated to posting
full stop.........if i knew how to update from my phone, i'd be an updating mother focker..........but i have to take pics, email to home, wait for it to get there, then upload..........it is a pain............give me a way to go another way, i'd do it........if i could walk through the shop, take a pic to upload instantly, you'd be sick of the pics i upload.........it'd be daily.......this m'fer never stops

Hope it comes back to what it was!
i thought the dixon boat was spot on...........knowing the process, if i was the owner, i'd be over the moon..........true shit
