JBB handled it far better than your current staff, He protected the membership from bullshit, and took care of business. Sure he hurt a few feelings, but it stopped the bullshit. I think I remember he banned you once.

Since he left, you’ve let RDP run amuck. Personal attacks on everyone and everything are the norm. The Speed thread is an embarrassment to everyone thinking about advertising on this site. Why do you keep it in the lounge? All that negative shit needs its own place, not RIverDavesPlace.

My suggestion is to fire all your moderators, including yourself ( cause you sux at it too).

Also I know what your next response is going to be, "just put me on ignore then". Have you ever thought "man, maybe I am an overzealous asshole, and I draw all of this attention onto myself? Most of the members don't want to come here and just put someone on ignore. So part of this tells me you know you're part of the problem.

Either way I don't have you on ignore, because I deal with worse than you day to day, but I know plenty that say "seriously fuck that guy".

ill say, of what i have seen, the negativity was not in the build section, not that i looked at every thread..........but i never saw it
i think it was a collective stop due to many builds, lack of interest, lack of engagement, and covid killing it.............when nobody likes, comments, gives input, the builders stop posting.............and coming from a poster, that should carry weight
not what you feel is the reason, actual reasons
regardless, Nordic will start posting again, we'll see.........

Just giving you crap!! A good example of someone who always did a good job with updates was Shueman. I miss him and his updates on RDP.

I know Todd at Tahiti is constantly giving updates on his builds, as are the guys at Advantage. They arent as frequent as I'd like, but I also don't know how many new boats they are building. Gelcoater does a good job of sharing info too. I think there is a TON of knowledge on here, sometimes you just have to go looking for it. Lenman comes to mind. Talk about a wealth of knowledge and talent!!! Guys like him, 025, Barry Obler, etc. Not necessarily "Builders," but they are as talented as you'll find.

Everything Matt (025) builds is just wild! For the close to 30 years I've known him, he still surprises me. I wish he would post here again and more often.

My personal guess, many manufactures are out 6mo to a couple years if you ordered today. I don’t think many of them are actively trying to sell boats(boat show turn outs prove that). Why waste your time posting and strumming up business when you already have too much?

I could be wrong though. Either way, that was my favorite section before it fell off. Hope it comes back to what it was!

The reality is that if people thought it was a value add to share their products and projects they would. I’m simply saying to get to that place the culture needs to change and members need to police each other absent of moderators.

If someone thinks the flannel pattern on the side of a boat is ugly they need to be reminded to keep it to themselves. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we all are probably curious how it was done, and would like to see other custom touches that were incorporated. That is innovation.

There was a comment earlier there is no innovation. There is plenty of innovation, it just isn’t being showcased because it’s not of value for a mfg or person to go out of their way to do so to be nitpicked about it.

This is a direct issue involving our business as well (Weddle Industries). I was on various other forums before I worked here and asked the owners why they were not involved with those sites. Their response was, and still is that they are tired of arguing with people that have no idea what they are talking/typing about. It's tiring to keep proving people wrong that have no idea what they are talking about.

I made it a point to explain to the owners that they are missing out on the opportunity to correct the bad information. They have allowed me to come on these open forums and advertise myself as "Sean at Weddle" to try and combat this exact problem. I take an approach where I try not argue with anyone, but I will correct someone's incorrect information and back that up with proper information. (Almost a full time job over on Glamisdunes.com, LOL).

It is very easy for people to type their opinions without showing anything to back them up. Once that bad information is out there, the business has to deal with the frustration and headaches that come along with customers calling them up saying: "I read this about that on forum X, what should I believe?". We then have to explain to the customer that what they read is completely wrong and why.

That only covers those that actually call the source and are open to an opposing explanation. There are countless other people that read these posts and automatically believe that info to be the truth. Those are the missed opportunities where a potential customer receives bad information and then never pursue that business for their potential needs.

It is my belief that most people are not intending to post bad information, but they post what they think they know, without having the full experience to make an informative post. Then there are those that simply "Shit post" to stir the pot. Can't do much about them but understand who they are and ignore.

If you guys want to have more interaction with the people on the "inside" of these companies that you are interested in, have a little tact in your replies and keep your stronger opinions to the campfire or back of the boat conversations with your buddies. Maybe some of these guys will come back and show off some cool shit for everyone to see.

If you see a paint job you don't like ,or think an engine/drive choice is junk, just let them be. Move on and take your business elsewhere. Business who offer crap will usually end up in the shitter on their own recognizance.

Anyway I always thought it was one of the coolest sections on Dave’s sight. I loved the transparency they showed and the fact that it was not all hidden behind curtains and mirrors. I know they are still building boats. COME ON BACK GUYS I for one miss the posts.

i think it’s a cool platform for the west coast guys to show their builds but an even better place for some of the builders a little farther out of our loop.

The DW builds.
Or the New Chaudron builds as examples.
Then there’s Steve’s Skater build.
The most epic build thread in that section and probably this whole site as far as actual build content.
Like anything else the section needs some maintenance but I’ve not seen anything too out of line down there.

I’d love to see the from the mold section come back to life. But as a business owner right now it’s tough to find the time to do extra everyone is stretched so thin due to the labor market I understand. I remember when there was a new Nordic in that section every few weeks. It was amazing driving through the channel last season and thinking that’s new, so is that, almost every 10 boats was a new build that I’ve never seen. I’m glad to see all the manufacturers thriving.
