Yes Prop 19
Has fire victim protections built in as well for those who lost their home to be able to buy somewhere else and transfer the base tax amount. Not sure how the value is created if they don’t build and sell though. Was added because of what the people near the paradise fire experienced.

Daughter in law works for them in an unmarked building in Irvine, See's Lynsi pretty regularly.
(Not flipping burgers)
I have visited that building a few times. They purchased the software I sell

Unfortunately, this is the norm amongst big departments. In my former life, almost 20 years ago , I was a fire apparatus mechanic. (crazy right X Hoser! ) Almost weekly, I talk to the guys that still work there that I worked with. It’s something like a 5 year minimum for any decent apparatus. The manufacturers are still having supply issues and lack of employees. I could go in depth about REV/KME but I don’t want to type that much. The fire shops are also behind the private sector in pay. Since Covid, they fell way behind the dealerships and independent shops. I think our last application period had 5 apps!!!
I find myself bringing tools to work to fix our junk.

Yes, we are way behind private sector in pay in every field job since covid. The exception being DWP, they are still competitive

Have you been to LA lately? It's beyond fixing. It will never be a good operating area. Ever.
Think 3rd world city, the movie escape from LA, the border, ultra rich and ultra poor, failed infrastructure with no feasible plan to fix, crime, road rage, lack of respect for laws...all blended together.

I was on figeroroa Friday. Just south of downtown
About 20 'young adults" had the north 2 lanes blocked. All on bmx bikes doing wheelies down the street. 40 cars behind them. They could care less about anyone else.
That's LA, that can't be fixed. Ever. Doesn't matter who is running the city
You must have been looking for them. 😂

Not sure if it’s county specific, but when the Thomas Fire hit, people who lost homes were able to keep property taxes on existing sq ft. If they went bigger (more baths/sq ft), then it’s full market value
Unless it’s changed since I rebuilt, just to clarify, you only pay the new tax rate on the additional square footage added, or major upgrade like additional bath.

Wife just walked in the door, last shift now retired.
We were set to head out for a lap around the Southwest with the TH and Can Am, but will hold off until the wind warnings are over.
Looking now like maybe Thursday.

Gun stores out here have HUGE walk-in bank vaults and are giving free firearm storage access to owners.

We used to muster with our trucks at the Elks lodge and hook up horse trailers and move local livestock to the Pierce college Equestrian center.
Haven't been texted yet.

Some time ago but I kinda remember:
When I was living in Sunset Hills all the HOAs got together and did the Math to buy one.
Maybe purchase it like a leaseback, if anyone is familiar with that. We own it, others can rent it to defer the cost.
Math didn't work out for us.

It was well over $40 million at the time. Not so much to cover the build cost, but the design and development cost was astronomical and part of the tab.
They work superb, worth every dime if you have enough of them on the job.
Newsom should have bought a fleet of them and trained national Guard Pilots to fly them for 10 cents an hour.

The Palisades Fire Origin: Investigators Are Looking At A Possible New Years Fire Holdover, Arson, And More.

Origin photos show the fire starting off the Temescal Ridge Trail.

On Today’s Show:
Upgrade to paid
The ATF has taken over as the lead investigator into the Palisades Fire and has been looking at the fire's origin. The best origin photo I’ve seen shows the fire starting off the Temescal Ridge Trail within the first 20 minutes of ignition.
Palisades Fire Origin Photo:
Investigators are also looking at the potential of a holdover from the Lackman Fire, which started on New Year’s Eve in the same location.
I cover the details of this investigation, one being the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, saying the power to the infrastructure on top of Temescal Ridge has been shut off for 5 years.
I also discuss the cuts the Forest Service is making in Region 5 (California) to critical positions. I had a conversation with a California Forest Supervisor who was concerned these cuts would only make the jobs of firefighters on the ground harder.

Wife just read this.
All in for it in her quest to be a crazy cat and dog lady. And Burro.
That's awesome
We have been a foster family for about a decade for a golden Retriever Rescue. We even fostered a Great Pyrenees once. That was a cool dog

Yes, thank you

No kidding?
I’m just wondering why from that picture you posted you were starting to think it was deliberate. If I’m missing something, let me know. Is there something you see in it? Maybe it’s an unrelated picture to the comment? I don’t know.

Doesn't make any difference where it hit it,,, it hit it and may have been targeted. Of course it would have hit it the way it did.
