Looks like a small area is at least. Shit tons of warnings though. I don't think they were expecting the real serious stuff til later today.
Those areas just went out in the last 5 min. Edison was reporting it out before it was out. Lol

Ed Laskos on fox11 spotted a small, very small spot fire in front of a house and is just recording and talking about it instead of running up to the house and grabbing the hose.

How he found it

Interesting, the slashed area is currently off and most of that portion that I am zoomed in on is on the same grid as we are on and that area is above ground. I bitched at someone kinda high up last time our power was turned off and told him that they can't turn a grid off that is 90% below ground when there is a way to isolate the area that is above ground, quit being lazy and pull the pole lever to shut off that portion of the grid, it looks like they did that if the map is correct.

Edit: I drove over there and the above ground area is the only area off, looks like the pulled the handle 👍

I was just at dog beach in HB . . . smoke was way out past Catalina & looked to be stretching all the way to San Clemente island.
Crazy.

LAFD is asking for any firefighters out there to call in, they need help. I find this weird as if they are active duty they already know about this and are being called in to assist whether on a strike team or back fill their departments stations for the guys that are on a strike team. The news didn't give enough information as to what they are looking for, retired firefighters that want to help or guys that graduated a Firefighter 1 Academy or both.

The way the wind is blowing it’s like my windows are just gonna shatter. Have 14 trees on my property. Not fun sometimes. Basketball hoop got blown over right where a car is normally parked but took my 16yr old driving last night and happened to park it elsewhere for no reason. Car would’ve been demolished.

This may sound stupid, but why not close off a major fwy and allow fire units from down south to get there?
Lastly, what amount of water do the engines carry?

My friend’s sister’s house burnt down. They live in the Palisades. 😕
Looking at the news now that I am home I think my daughters very good friend and husband lost theirs as well. 😞

As for packing up the few essentials you want to take. It’s a lot easier when you’re not in a panic rush.
Also. Unpacking a car or two, its still better being ahead of the game then losing everything

The mutual aid contract they have is weird, my buddy is on shift in temecula and they just activated his OES team. I'm surprised it took this long for their activation

Shutting down the freeway wouldn't change arrival time much, 500 gallons

From a family member of mine:

I'm listening to a live feed of the multiple task forces and they are running out of water and the PCH houses along the highway are burning and there is no water... this is insane to hear!!!!

The water tanks are dry, the pumps that feed them can't keep up with the amount of engines that are pumping out of the hydrants, I don't remember the numbers anymore but the engines can pump 1500gpm or more X 100+ engines. The other thing is the pumps don't run without electricity, that's one reason DWP won't do a PSPS shut off, edison doesn't care.

they are safe, but will lose everything....

Hopefully their valuable paperwork was grabbed...

update:

from my Daughter in law (talking about her Sis and BIL

"""I just can't believe it. I don't see how their house can survive. And if it does what will they even be going back to? They didn't even have time to grab anything. They were really lucky they were able to get back into the area (they were in Santa Monica) to get Bash and Ramsey and then get back out safely. Especially with all of the hundreds of cars that were abandoned on the streets. I can't even imagine what that would look like in real life"""
