Been windy here in Riverside but nothing crazy… trampoline is still in its same spot. Crazy to see the damage done in the pacific palisades area ☹️

I wonder who this airplane works for, was over the fire all afternoon:

Others may have answered but I took the time to search so I am posting anyway. lol

Fire Integrated Real-Time Intelligence System Program (FIRIS)

An all-hazard resource utilizing cutting-edge sensors and substantial computing power mounted on crewed fixed-wing aircraft to provide immediate enhanced information within minutes of arriving on the scene of an emergency incident anywhere in the State of California. Collected data is directly shared with a ground-based supercomputer and fusion center that displays real-time incident intelligence. Within seconds, this intelligence is simultaneously distributed in a common operating platform directly into the hands of first responders on-scene, coordination leaders, policymakers, law enforcement, and others to make more effective decisions to protect life, property, and the environment.

I heard an hour or so ago that the CFD IC team from up our way has been activated and takes over overhead command tomorrow dayshit.
For those that don't know, the state is divided into several regions for mutual aid via the Governor's Office of Emergency Servicies. Resources are pulled from the region in the disaster area, then the closest regions, then from further away as resources get depleted.
I hope those fo you in this thing are safe, and are ready to go if it is prudent to do so.
I have been through this several times. It sucks.
I feel or the guys working the fire, cops, firefighters, all of them...who are fighting this thing wondering if they are going to go home to find they have lost there house.
I had that happen a couple times, and it really sucks.

From a family member of mine:

I'm listening to a live feed of the multiple task forces and they are running out of water and the PCH houses along the highway are burning and there is no water... this is insane to hear!!!!
Could fire engines pump seawater? Admittedly not clean or debris free so probably not good for the pumps but water is water.

Windy as fuck in the foothills of upland and Claremont. Wide spread power outage but fortunately no fire, can’t even imagine how bad that situation is, where there is fire. This is a significant wind event, last one like this was 2 or 3 years ago. Our house shook hard all night on that one, hearing shit bang around outside and no fucking chance I’m headed out there to see what it is LOL

It’s best that the power is out right now.

I can't even begin to think about the rebuilding / contstruction process around Pacific Palisades . . . many will, some won't , properties for sale etc. . . . what a mess.

Have no idea. Anybody answer this?
Yeah but it would be extremely difficult to set up, you can't just lay the draft line (which isn't very long, maybe 20') in the surf

Plus it will suck up sand. And the distance from the uphill to the fire would require huge pumps.

Hearing now the fire is quickly following PCH and has reached several beach homes north of Moonshadows and moving towards Dukes at Las Flores. Big Rock is nuked at PCH and moving inland.
Hope aircraft can battle before daylight.

Thanks all for the pictures and info for you local guys.

That's why you can't just lay it in the surf, it's not worth it
If there was an intake already set up and possibly with pumps it could work but there would still be crazy maintenance on the pumps and whatever you used to distribute the water.

The environmental impact will be the bigger issue in the long run.
