A little bit of "dog-lash" when the drivetrain oscillates is normal, doesn't bother me.

Torque limiters shouldn't really make any noise since they are bathed in gear oil.

The belt is pissed after all of that throttle input and no wheel spin. Clutch sheaves are probably pretty well glazed after all of that.

Exhaust temps on diesels get a little weird. On a gasser, run it fat and it runs a little warmer. On a diesel, you can fuel it until it burns down. Watching a Pyro on a diesel rolling coal, it gets to be apparent. Not usually an issue on 7.3 trucks...until you go with big HPOP's and injectors. The later Powerstrokes, like the 6.7, a bad tune can turn the injectors into cutting torches.

I have an EGT gauge and a boost gauge on my 7.3. Along with 4 different tunes to chose from.

It is definitely weird to watch the EGT, on different tunes with different loads (towing, not towing) and changing boost pressures, on all of the different tunes.

The "tow safe" mode, I never use, since it lacks a whole lotta power.

The full power mode works well, but the exhaust temp will head to the moon in a blink when towing, so I have to keep a close eye on it! 😱

As far I can tell, it's all totally unrelated to how a gas engine will behave as far as EGT goes. Especially on a factory tune with a CAT!

Engine coolant temp is a whole different story.

It's a discussion for a whole different thread.

My mistake with the 7.3 was towing our toy hauler from Blythe to Phoenix with the programmer set to extreme. The cloud of white smoke on the way home when I came to a stop made people think the truck was on fire. The new turbo solved the problem.

My right foot has a direct link to the egt gauge when I'm towing. 😂

I have the gauge clocked so 1300 is tdc

I will freely admit I wouldn’t do that to my speed car.. lol
In 2011 or 2012, I got a pre-production Kawasaki Teryx 4-seater. The very first thing we did with it was go to Chocolate Thunder. Dave Cole spotted, and I drove that bone stock rig up the trail with 15 miles on it without issue. Seemed to do a lot better than what I see in this video on much smaller tires. That was a billy goat; we took on all kinds of trails from Johnson Valley to the Rubicon to Moab. Wish I still had it. Hammerking had a fleet of them used for trail marking; they took a beating.

I have been impressed by Robby Gordon twice.
1.) When he did not nerf me at the Parker 425 when the unlimited classes caught our Jeepspeed on the powerline road.
2.) When I watched him spend extra time with a boy who had significant burn scars at the AZ off-road expo a couple of years ago.

Today was the third time his finisher interview at KOH. Gentlemen. Classy, well-spoken. It also might be that he said no matter what anyone says, KOH is the hardest race in the world. Dakar and Baja1000 don't compare.

Factory showroom cars, changed tires, raced KOH. No, he did not win, but he is still impressive. I wonder what those cars will sell for?

Damn, there are some excellent cars on the market right now. Seeing this level of OEM cars available to the public is really cool.

FWIW, I can't share a bad personal interaction with RG; I've only had these three positive impressions.

19th is something to be proud of at KOH, totally different than a desert race. There will be a bunch of DNF’s today.

Wonder if the Gomez Bro's are going to push to the finish in the 2 other Speeds?

Very good showing for Speed at this years KOH. RG raced smart and wanted to make sure he finished. Sounded like Max broke a tie rod and that is why finished behind RG.

He can for sure say his Bandit is ready to race from the showroom. I bet he sells some more Bandits after this race.

Pretty cool to see the evolution/progression of UTV’s.

I agree. As a consumer it’s a good time to be apart of the off-road community. So many options for the buyer and they all have a flavor that will satisfy a wide demographic.

It was actually a mix of all different models.
Chaney new can-am
Guthrie pro r
Blurton can-am x3
Heger turbo r
Not sure if greaves was pro r or turbo r
CJ was a Pro R.

Sounds like all of the Speeds had Tie Rod issues in the rock race, Robby and Max were able to fix theirs, doesnt sound like Gomez were. They were running 35" rock tire which was different as well.
