Does your 25 year old truck even have a turbo? Lol. My buddy had a turbo 454 dually back in the day about when your truck was new. Going up Chiriaco at night it would glow red.

Sure does.

But it's also a diesel. So, I'm not sure how that relates to this issue?

Exhaust temp is directly related to fuel mixture in a gas engine. Hot means lean. Not enough fuel.

Turbos coke the fuck up when they run that hot.

But hey, what do I know?

I’m not sure but I would guess they do? Mine is turbo but I couldn’t tell you if it has a cat.

Copy.

So I wonder if these tuners are similar to an HP tuner, where you can change every single aspect?

Or do they just have pre set tunes? 🤷‍♂️

I think Physically removing the CAT & the O2 sensors, then tuning them out...

I'd richen the shit out of it and dial the timing in.

You can buy headers and full exhaust kits, bigger turbos, intakes and intercoolers for them off the shelf. Then there are a few options for tuners also.

To me though I’m a fan of stock and not breaking shit. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I know my friend @SFV2RVR had a bunch of work done to his, and then spent the next six months trouble shooting it because it wouldn’t run right.

And that's probably what happens 99.9 percent of the time.

Bolt on components are fine, in most any application, but without being able to "tune" for the mods, the probably won't get you much gain.

Stock is dependable. But, stock with a CAT, has to be lean, to protect the CAT from failing.

Eventually, someone will come up with an HPTuner kinna deal to plug in and change Everything.

And then comes the learning curve of learning how to use it..

Right Jerry? How is Alex these days?

Many of the tuner companies recommend leaving the O2 sensors, they claim they can tune them with more precise mapping by retaining the O2 sensors.

As far as the CAT, well most folks go with an aftermarket pipe so the CAT is a non issue, or they remove the stock kitty for heat purposes and better flow, either way many of the utvs have the O2 upstream of the CAT. The CAT removal on an OEM pipe isn't any louder and does lower the temp considerably, not to mention it doesn't hinder the turbo.

This has been my experience around the recreational utv crowd. (the full race crowd are all over the map when it comes to this subject)

You need springs asap!!!
RZRs use the top spring as a bump stop. They are collapsed until expanded. That is why it is recommended to change out the springs from factory to get a proper progressive spring setup. I never understood why Polaris does it that way.

You have to have Something to check the AFR.

If the tune isn't being done with a 5 gas analyzer and a dyno, you Have to rely on the O2 sensor.

I have a Dynojet for my Harley's. You can really get into detail adjusting tunes if you want. I use tunes from Dynojet for my setup and then use autotune mode to refine it. Some guys really get into fine tuning their maps though.

I have one on my Harley as well. It was tuned on a dyno. Pre cat and pre drive by wire.

She runs like a freaking raped ape.

My tuner actually added a bung to add an O2 sensor during the tuning process. Then it was removed after the process, so I guess there is a need or at least it helps make it more reliable. This was on the Subaru not on the Diablo I’m still waiting there.

Toyota just issued a stop to 50K drivers. This is arguably the best auto manufacture in the world. Shiz happens. Just saying.
Don't drive.

In prologue we had Max one car back, then Robby, then Todd then a 4 seat from another team running a SPEED car... talk about putting some pressure on some Electrical contractor wanna be racers... I talked with Robby for a little while in the line up, he ran prologue with a bone stock car and the windshield, hahaha. Not sure where they finished in prologue but they never caught us, so I was pretty happy about that. We ran a modest pace, had NO NOTES since we didnt pre run. Race day we lost the front diff 32 miles in and had to run in 2wd, at RM-64ish we lost driver rear corner both CVs DEAD!!!! Called it a day. The 10 cars were OUT FOR BLOOD!! Any UTV they caught there was zero "hey Im here can you please move over...?" it was ALL BUMPER!!! Ryan Piplic got HAMMERED by the leader of the 10 class. I think they were all trying to make sure a SXS didnt get the overall, which was impossible with Brock Heger running his ProR at Trophy Truck pace, that kid is a badass and fun to watch wheel a car!! Nice job commentating FISH, we all appreciate the live commentary and the IG updates.

Im not sure what Robby was running fuel wise. He just told me it was a full stock car as delivered to customers, nothing changed. And he joked about how cold it was outside so he said screw it, leave the windshield on it. I think Max smoked a belt, not sure what happened with Robby and Todd but I heard they both stopped on course during prologue (Desert Race, not rock). I know on race day my buddies kid who was doing lap 1 in my car diced it up with Todd for a little while, they passed Max or Robby pulled off course and a few minutes later they went by HAULING ass him!! I haven't even looked at all the final results so have no idea how it all played out, once we got the DNF I kinda tuned out. I know Brock, so I was stoked for him to get the W and the Overall, kids a BEAST!!! And Polaris is stoked to have him, I think he could probably outdrive most people on that course if he was in a legit golf cart. Hahaha. He makes it look easy thats for sure.

Good showing for Speed UTV so far. Rock race qualifying was entertaining. With the Bandits RG and company should have better results this year. Going to be interesting to see how the Gomez brothers do in their Speed UTVs.

Don't think anyone has a chance against Chaney in the rocks, if he has no issues with his Maverick R. His qualifying run was nuts

Wasn’t there, but I heard it’s got aftermarket cage, aftermarket, lower arms and gussets in some places. I’d be surprised if that was it. Even if i got bad info for what I just said I’ll tip my hat because those were some brutal hits, but it certainly be interesting to me to see a stock car go down that.

I wonder if they pulled out the magna flux at a light once they got back and it was dark out?

Exhaust temps on diesels get a little weird. On a gasser, run it fat and it runs a little warmer. On a diesel, you can fuel it until it burns down. Watching a Pyro on a diesel rolling coal, it gets to be apparent. Not usually an issue on 7.3 trucks...until you go with big HPOP's and injectors. The later Powerstrokes, like the 6.7, a bad tune can turn the injectors into cutting torches.

Those were stock upper arms and uprights. Lower arms are from CT Raceworks and they built the car. Rear trailing arms are stock with S3 weld on gussets. Frame for sure has been gusseted in areas and tubes added to make it rock race worthy.

The car is fully built.... but I said "Stock upper A Arms" ... not sure if that's true, but is what I heard.
