Geezus. Don’t order a Tesla then.

Your friend will be fine, he will get his car. He’s getting a nice car at a very discounted price.

What will you say if he takes delivery of the car and really likes it, hypothetically speaking of course? 😁

Why can’t you just be happy for him?
How he wants to spend his money is his business. You said yourself he can afford it.

You couldn't pay me to order/drive a Tesla. Why do you keep changing the subject??

IF it turns out actually Be a nice car, I will be happy for him at that point. Worth the wait? That will another thing that has yet to be determined.

As of now, the realty is, he has a lot of money tied up in nothing. If it walks like a scam, and talks like a scam...

You know the rest. 😝

Steve doesn't like waiting for anything. I can only imagine his angst over this deal.

Startups are hard enough without all the supply issue BS and lack of people to hire.
My concern is The Speed cars competition is not sitting idle, I can assure you of that.

Now enter a nice economic disaster looming. Trying times for every mfg.

You said yoreself he can afford to lose the money. Don’t gamble with what you aren’t willing to lose.

If you actually watched the 100+ hours of of details and releases on the cars during the design, testing and manufacturing process you might actually be able to have a rational conversation with your friend instead of getting all worked up over something you know very little about.

It does not sound like he’s too worried about it… probably because he has an idea of what is going on :)

If he is worried, I will buy his spot for what he has in it.

So I’m curious, will they remove the tooling, fixtures , material, assembly lines , etc from china and set up all over again in Texas to start making them there ? Or will they realistically be made/built in china and then shipped over on a boat and then QC’ed in Texas. Seems kinda Crazy if They change from china to Texas now, that would take 6 months plus to get going if Not longer
Lots of common sense in the statement, something is fishy with all of this!

Polaris, the leader in the industry released their new car already. There isn’t going to be a redesigned version of that in 2023. Can Am will likely introduce their new car in the next month? The suspension designs for it were already leaked.

I watched ONE show with him out at the river, cause we were bored that day.

Wanna know what stuck in my head?? Ol RG sayin, as he was showing a wiring harness all laid out...

"there is WAY more to this than I anticipated"

That single statement tells me Everything I needed to know.

I'm completely rational. I'm not the one changing the subject every chance I get and spending hundreds of hours watching infomercials! 😁🤣

Because Ford builds 2,000 F150s a day... Speed has yet to build one production SXS.

Thanks for proving my point. They have been doing it for over 100 years and can’t get it right in the midst of global supply chain challenges.

You already said you were angry for your friend who does not care about the money. That seems very rational. Until yesterday you didn’t know the car uses a belt 🤣 and watched a 30 min infomercial once!

You have all the answers and are completely rational 😁.

You only seem to read/hear what you want to hear 😂

Ford still managed to build 2,000 F150s per day last year and continue to do it today. How come Speed can't put a couple hundred UTVs together? What "supply chain" issues are they having?

Must be hundreds of posts and multiple threads and you’re still making the same comparison between Speed cars and Ford F150 production. You’re smart enough to know the significant differences but you continue to ignore them in these threads. Denial is not a river you can boat on

I could say the same for you.. for 2 years an established car manufacturer doing it for 100 years couldn’t get it together to deliver trucks to customers because they were missing parts 😂. How come Ford can’t get trucks to people in a timely manner??

Are we back to “Speed is going to fold and you will all lose yore money, but I’m not negative at all.”

You are correct, Denial is not a river, but it is a 2 way street an Massachusetts.

About the Ford Talk...My BIL is here on vacation, currently in Hawaii, but back with us tomorrow. He is a Ford Assembly line painter currently. He sprays all the F650's and 750's at the Avon, Ohio plant. They are the only "line build" trucks not robotically painted. They are also the the only trucks they are shipping directly right off the line ready to go. He thinks the commercial stuff maybe the most profit or the least patient customer base.

All the 150's, 250's, and 350's get run out into the abyss and parked. They pull the computer and take it back to grab another truck, plug the computer in, configure with a hand held programmer, and run it out and park it. The minute its parked the truck is considered "In Shipping" even though its not going anywhere. As the computers show up then a special team locates the truck and gets it rolling.

Talk about a time waster.

Is that the protocol during this chip shortage? Or in general pre covid.

I could ask him but that is what they are currently doing.
No they don't operate that way normally. They used to kill the line and wait 2 weeks then run a week, rinse and repeat. They stopped doing this because they were loosing staff.

Now they just run the line and a secondary operation goes in with the necessary computers and modules and get those vehicles out.

He also said the robots break down constantly.

It's a rubber band car.

It does not exist.

The guy who is building it is in WAY over his head, but seems to keep SOME people ready to jizz with his infomercials. I was bored 5min in.

People have given up their hard earned money, with ZERO to show in return.

Don't get so excited all the time , just keep drinking the Kool Aid RG is giving you and relax !!

I’m pretty relaxed. I post one update and the naysayers, non participants, and negative Nancy’s .

No one can ever answer why they are so concerned about how other people spend their money though.

How has anyone been defrauded?

This will be good I’m sure.

I will say this; I was at an OEM customer at one of my locations 2 weeks ago.

They just replaced a bunch of whiny losers with robot welders. The welds were absolutely beautiful. I mentioned this subject and his comment was “it’s all about who tells the robot what to do, they do what you tell them to do.”

At Speed it’s all about where the robot puts the bolt.

Deposit put down. Nothing to show for it in return?

You of course believe the product is on it's way!

I believe it will never show up, and even if it does, it won't be anything close to what's been advertised.

I hope I'm wrong and you hope you're right. I'm not changing your mind, and you're not changing mine.

That's all folks! :)

I hope you go for a ride in your friends car when he gets it. If not you can have a ride in mine.

Im not sure what your expectations are on production of a new product in a global pandemic and supply chain breakdown, but things take longer than expected.

If what you believe is true, Speed has spent like $20m dollars to defraud people out of $10m, and Robby Gordon and Todd Romano have burned every business partner, sponsor, supplier, power sports conglomerate they have ever known and also both their personal reputations in and out of the off-road communities they have been a part of for basically their entire adult lives.

If you want a reason why I believe the cars will be delivered, that is why. They are pot committed.

Thanks for the offer. But don't take it personally if I don't take you up on it. Now...

If someone from my circle ends up with one, I'll probably be ok sitting shot gun. But since no one has shown any interest. It's unlikely I'll ever go for a ride in one.

They are assembling the car in Texas, not building it from scratch there.
I’m sure you have seen all the pics I have and it seems like they are doing complete cars there also ? Or are they completing only the first 50 there ?

Yes I have seen those pics and the videos of the team in China.

They stated that those cars were built there to expedite the final sign off of all components. That is what they said, you can believe it or not. It makes a lot more sense to build some cars there where most of the parts originate, and ship over the parts sourced in other countries to complete the cars than vise versa, and ship several complete SXS back to China by boat.

Are they going to do an about face and now build the cars in China and ship them here? Maybe, I don’t know, nor do I care. I didn’t buy a car to dictate the manufacturing process.

No one has any room to cry about any of that as they respond to this thread clutching their pearls on a Chinese made device with solar panels on their roof made from Chinese slave labor while also buying a bunch of Chinese made junk on Amazon for Prime Day.

Pretty common to do Beta production runs from soup to nuts before production runs. I have no opinion on the subject, but find this Speed thing fascinating.

RG has Balls. I can't imagine trying to pull off some of these things he is trying. I see people in plants struggle with first pass yield in established manufacturing locations when a new product is developed. I can't imagine building seemingly everything from scratch. There must be some brilliant people working behind the scenes for this train to still be on the rails.

If RG somehow pulls this off it will be a truly noteworthy story to tell about entrepreneurship and going all-in on a vision. My inquiring mind's question is simply how the hell is he cash flowing this endeavor? He must be absolutely bleeding with these delays.

Im skimmed most replies. We habe already had these debates.
The one undeniable thing is speed utv will no longer be years ahead of the rest. That window is basically closed.
A better car than a 35k can am with 15k into it? Who knows.
Better than a 50k polaris R? Maybe?

Timing and world events are/were unpredictable. Speed is caught up in this and their 'innovations' are old news.
I believe the hype is gone and thats not going to help.

I hope everyone gets their investment soon. The longer is takes the less value it holds.

More off road enthusiasts are laughing now than cheering. RG has to pull one HUGE rabbit out of his hat now.

Also, same thing i typed a year ago
😁

Good news is when i upgrade to my next utv, maybe a year...can am will have new car. Polaris will have one. Speed will have one. Lots of choices

I’m sure he is bleeding cash. The $500M in commits as a carrot will pretty much insure he will get all the working capital he needs.

LOF yes Ford and many others are missing delivery dates. Most importantly my truck lol.

But let’s not forget. Speed is missing it by years where others are missing by months.

There is really no need to defend Speed the way you do. All the guys bitching didn’t even order a car so who fucking cares.
You have a car on order and you obviously could give a shot about the delivery date. Why argue with someone that has no skin in the game.

There is an old saying about arguing with an idiot. Sooner or later nobody can tell the difference between the two.

Be like Elsa and let it go...
