I thought we were talking about Speed cars. 🤷‍♂️

Im just hoping he doesn't get burned.

We are talking about every manufactured vehicle in the world right now. Speed is no different, they have dealt with the same supply constraints.

Why would he get burned?

I’ve been to two different Polaris dealers (chaparral and Temecula motorsports) in the last couple weeks and they both had a few of the new cars (turbo r and the pro r) so not sure why LOF keeps saying the cars aren’t available? Also now seeing them in person I’d lean towards the turbo r they are both fugly but the smaller car just doesn’t look as fugly to me but both are massive! Made my turbo s dynamix look small.

Sure there are a couple available now for $50k stone stock. Enjoy.

The Turbo R is the one to get for sure.

Yep I saw those patent drawings as well. Looks like a lot of moving parts!

What is going to be the msrp on a fully loaded speed car with all the options if and when they come out

All options? It’s got to be close to $60k at the new MSRP. You’d spend $75k to get to that level with a RZR.

They are building them here. The factory is in Texas. It is set up now. They would like to build them in AZ for logistics, but if that happens, that would be later down the line.

These cars were built in China for logistics and test fitting parts and pieces. The Speed team as been overseas for a month now and will be there until every last part is signed off on.
Built in china? So the assembly plant pictures are all of a plant built in china? Tooling and all?
How long is it going to take to have the plant set up here in Texas.
Will they have a QC time length for those machines built here?
I’m saying first thousand are built there to cheer everyone up and release product.

They are saying they are delivering in September. If that is true, working backwards if they were coming from China they would already need to be on a boat.

Even the new pro r lol

Start adding it up…

Chase bar
Roof rack (probably requires aftermarket cage)
Light bar
Bumpers
Bumper lights
Dome light
Spare tire
Spare tire mount
Bed storage boxes
Trail Jack
Spare axle, spare tie rod
Windshield (again probably requires aftermarket cage)
Carbon fiber seats
Dual touchscreen dashes
Belt temp gauge
Tire pressure monitors
Mirrors
A pillar lights
Winch
Custom wrap
Intercom and car radio
User Adjustable clutching
User Adjustable sway bars

How do you want to get a Pro R to 300 HP? That will take a suitcase of money.
300 HP comes with a full option Speed, just pour in e85.

I get what your saying the average person dose not do all that stuff all they do is a cage seat and harness and fresh air that’s it unless your doing a full on race build are you going to do all that stuff you have listed for the average weekend desert rat he dose not need all that stuff you listed

I know that and agree, but that was not the question I answered. The question was what does a Speed with every option cost.

The answer to what you just said is the Speed is $10k cheaper. It already comes with a race ready cage, race seats, and 5 point cam lock harnesses.

What the fuck why didn’t you call me too look at the skis first for you

They were so cheap that I couldn’t risk someone swooping. They turned out fine.
You know of any nice 4 door jeeps around you that you want to test drive for me!

I’m gonna do a mirror delete on them since you know skis OWN the river/lake and boats need to watch out for themselves not us!

For msrp (today?) lmao

Maybe a little over MSRP on the next price increase.. nothing crazy like Carl though.

If I take delivery I would put it up for what I’d consider a number Jist big enough that I’d be happy and someone would pay it. Lol

We? No. You? Yes. All I asked about was the speed car.

I'm thinking this thing will never show up. And even if it does, just like any first year model release, it will have it's share of problems.

Pretty much anything you buy looses value the instant it comes off the lot. Why would this be any different?

Odds are, it won't be.

He can afford to throw his deposit the trash and not loose any sleep. But I'd hate to see that happen to him. Or anyone else for that matter.

It's a toy and nothing more. Nothing to get worked up about. Unless of course, it turns out to be a big hoax. 😉

I'm in my El Jefe fully loaded for 50k, but I am an early number. When the cars hit the dealer's equipped the same way I ordered it would be around 60K.
Thank you that’s the answer I was looking for!!

Early Talon owners report problems with that system. Dunno if Honda ever had a solution.
I have a Pioneer 1000-5. Same basic drivetrain but nowhere near the same sort of car. It’s really more like a Samurai than a desert buggy. I know that the forums are full of advice that overloading the tiny little motorcycle battery will cause a voltage drop and cook the clutches from weak/delayed engagement. I don’t know why they didn’t just upgrade the battery size for them but most guys run a second battery on the pioneer if they have snowplows or a ton of accessories. There was some sort of clutch update for the newer models but not sure what year. The transmission is pretty nice with the paddle shifter you can shift instantly when needed and it will go back into auto on its own unless you are in full time manual mode.

So I’m curious, will they remove the tooling, fixtures , material, assembly lines , etc from china and set up all over again in Texas to start making them there ? Or will they realistically be made/built in china and then shipped over on a boat and then QC’ed in Texas. Seems kinda Crazy if They change from china to Texas now, that would take 6 months plus to get going if Not longer

I'm sorry, but every time I see one of these threads about this unicorn known as Speed, I can't help but wonder and worry. I don't wish bad on anyone and I hope I'm wrong about this, but I think a lot of folks are going to be disappointed with this whole deal in the end.

Yeah, maybe RG is great at slamming the skinny pedal through the floor on his race trucks, and maybe the great cheerleader also known as LOF is right-on with all of his expertise and firsthand knowledge, but I'm still not sold on any of this.

There just seems to be a lot of smoke and mirrors, a lot of hype, setbacks with deadlines, questions about what is made where, yada yada yada. There's just a lot of uncertainty about the entire deal!

Like I said, I'll happily eat my words if and when these things ever touch down in the US. But I surely won't be holding my breath and I for damn sure wouldn't be shelling out a truckload of cash like so many others have. 🤷

Dual clutch has been well sorted out in cars, and these SXSs really are just small off road cars. Here in the CO mountains, we have tight technical trails with lots of hills. I much prefer the precision a dual clutch offers in this terrain. Just more fun, like driving a sports car in the twisties.

In a wide open desert terrain, could see why a CVT would be just fine. And a lot less engineering for a small start-up company for sure.

You said it, why get so worked up? It’s a toy.

If the people that actually put some money down aren’t worried, why are you?

Why do you think all of us wanted to get in at a discount? To make the inevitable problems worth it.

Are you buying Daddy a gift?

LOL. No. Sorry. You would not be happy with me forking over your hard-earned cash for an IOU.

I'm not giving anyone money to hold indefinitely on something because if I don't put my deposit in now, it will cost more later, and "later" is an indefinite amount of time.

Seriously . . . three years?? And you folks still don't have any kind of legitimate delivery date? Did you pay in advance for your options also? I honestly hope it works out for you all. It seems there are a lot of inmates who have money invested in RGs promises.

Cause my friend is My Friend. I feel bad that he has a good chunk of money tied up, and someone is enjoying HIS money!

That bothers me. A lot.

He's not an off road guy. He bought into the hype early on and he thinks he's getting something special. 🙄

I'm not a fan of people taking advantage of other people, and as far as I can tell, this is the marketing scam of the century.

Steve Jobs couldn't have done it better.

Not one of my Experienced off road crew has Any interest whatsoever in the Speed car. Knowing that it's just another rubber band car makes me wonder what all the hype is about!

Marketing. Nothing more.

Sorry for getting pissed off cause I'm pretty sure my friend will be fucked.

Caveat emptor.

It might be taking longer than planned. But don't forget the supply issues. I buy material from a lot of wholesalers. They have been in the business for years. 100k sq ft warehouses to stock it. And they have all had supply issues these last 2 years. We just went through 4 months of not being able to get mdf baseboard. Who would of ever thought baseboard would be a issue.

I have no skin in the game but I can see unexpected delays with what's going on in the world. Nobody could of been prepared for it. Last thing I want to see is people not get what they paid for. I hope it turns out better than expected.

This is an interesting thread.

Hey lets tear each other a new asshole over a car that doesn't exist just yet.

Buying a $60k SXS now that's an eye opener. I missed out on a potential pump and dump on this one, making a profit with a reservation number.

<<<<<<<<not smart.

I think they grossly under estimated the supply chain issues. These issues were happening when they started taking deposits and with all the changes supplies cannot produce and will not produce until changes stop. The ramp up times have only gotten worse and will continue to do so.

Note that I am a supply chain expert for electronics and fabricated parts. I do know what I am talking about lol

Geezus. Don’t order a Tesla then.

Your friend will be fine, he will get his car. He’s getting a nice car at a very discounted price.

What will you say if he takes delivery of the car and really likes it, hypothetically speaking of course? 😁

Why can’t you just be happy for him?
How he wants to spend his money is his business. You said yourself he can afford it.

I’ll ask again.. if Ford couldn’t deliver trucks on time, why does anyone expect Speed to be able to?

Why do you think it took them this long to start production? They have said for a year they aren’t going to shudder production once they start, because you are exactly right, they aren’t going to build these 8-10 cars at a time.
