So December?
So December?
Lets see some pictures of your speed car? I want a ride when you get one.All the way to the bank
Some updates -
Prices going up again in 5 days.
Dealer in Havasu will be ready for car deliveries, but all final prep work at the building in Havasu will be done after the first cars come out.
16k cars have been sold or allocated to dealers. About 4k of those are the cars “customer” cars ordered through their website or dealers. Speed’s goal is to deliver all 4000 of those cars by end of year.
Deliveries they say will happen in Anaheim, Havasu, Possibly Sand Show, and to various regional Speed dealers. They say they are targeting September to begin deliveries.
New electronics accessory bundle is available on the website to “unlock” the dash. It Includes belt temp, tire pressures, front and rear cameras and an accessory roof harness. All of the electronics in this bundle are viewable on the factory display.
If you buy any of these accessories later down the line you will have to have a Speed dealer unlock your dash to use them.
Friend was bragging about how everything is plug and play and easy to add on speed accessories later. Well I guess you have to pay the dealer to "unlock" the item in the dash and install it. So something like tire pressure sensors will be over $1200 in dealer fee's and labor (not inlcluding the parts) and you can't do it at home yourself unless you go aftermarket non-speed parts. They will be forcing everyone to install anything at dealers only and what if you don't live by one of the dealers or want to pay these crazy prices?

I’d bet most SXS customization is done by shops with owners cutting a check or swiping a card.
Customization in the owners garage is probably the minority.

Yea sure they’ve upfront about everything, but I would think this has been in the back of the folder this whole time. For the car you’re getting for the price, it be kinda hard to make a decent profit building it here.Sure why not.
I’m surprised no one has freaked out that they built several cars in China to do all the final parts testing and sign off.
You can't just go to any shop to get the work done. You have to go to a speed dealer. So the majority will also be screwed if they don't live near a speed dealer.

They mentioned they’d like to build them in either Arizona or California for the simple fact of logistics price, and them doing all of the shipping in house.
Wouldn’t that take some time to set up a factory?
Seriously? Maybe The Snowflake generation.I guess you wouldn’t buy one?

I wonder when American parts makers will start making aftermarket parts for the Chinese parts once they start falling apart.Seriously? Maybe The Snowflake generation.
Out of the 30 or so guys I ride with, in different states, we all do are own customization. Adding new stuff to your own car is half the fun.
I guess? I make more money doing work for customers than I save by doing my own work .Seriously? Maybe The Snowflake generation.

That is what it seems like. They said the cars they are using overseas to finalize everything were indeed built in China. From the pics I’ve seen looks like the parts and fixtures for those part were made there in china? All the workers had on Hisun shirts. The assembly’s looked nice, I would think those first cars were 100% made in china by the pics I saw

All their accessories are plug and play - light bars, comms, chase lights, stereo. Seems the electronics that use CANBUS are not at this time. All the chassis harnesses are pre terminated for all the accessories, including these.
This is just me saying if this, but in future years the whole thing will likely be unlocked from the factory so dealers CAN just plug in the accessories. That makes way more sense.
Honestly I see this for what it is, just a ploy to get more margin out of the early cars.
For $1200 it seems like a fair deal for what you get.
They did say that the belt temp would be included way way back in development, and they said that was one thing they did pull out of the original feature list.
Oh they are also going to have 35” tires a available in limited quantities shortly.
Rubber band car with shift on the fly gearbox with overdrive.Time the fuck out...
This is a rubber band car?? I was under the impression it had a transmission and clutches and shit!
What does this have for a drivetrain behind the engine?
I want to say 2019 and 2500$ at the time but I could be wrongI don't have the time to read through these threads, but I'm curious, when did you hopefully soon-to-be speed cars order them? What kind of deposit was required?
$1500 deposit. They started taking those Sept 2019. MSRP was $32K. MSRP is now $39K for the same car and going up again next week.I don't have the time to read through these threads, but I'm curious, when did you hopefully soon-to-be speed car owners order them? What kind of deposit was required?
I know I don't trust Polaris either They screw with the delivery dates and raise your price before you get the car. Let alone the multiple stop sales and recalls. Then there is Can Am that sells you a bricked car with no clusterWhat happened to April deliveries?
At this point I don’t trust there delivery dates whatsoever
Whats Carl think?$1500 deposit. They started taking those Sept 2019. MSRP was $32K. MSRP is now $39K for the same car and going up again next week.
In late 2020 you paid for whatever options you elected to buy for the car. So you paid for your options and a $1500 deposit. You can finance or pay cash for the remainder.

Seems that no one has any magical powers to overcome global supply chain challenges.

So, who has a spot for sale?
YXZ drivetrain is pretty bulletproof, and I don't think the 5 speed sequential is overly expensive.Rubber band car with shift on the fly gearbox with overdrive.
A transmission in any of these things would be heavy and expensive. These cars are already getting portly. The new 4 seat RZR with a 4 cylinder is 2600 lbs with no accessories.

I've been telling my friend to sell his spot for over a year. PM me if you're serious.
Did you buy the bundle, I did. I'm starting to get really excited about taking delivery of my El Jefe in time for riding season. You, RD and I need to go for a ride when we get our cars. Some updates -

I’m by no means a SXS expert, but we rent every July in Vail. Last year drove a new one with a dual clutch tranny. Talon maybe, don’t remember?? I enjoyed driving it and it also had an automatic mode.No one wants to shift all day long is the problem. The modern crop of 4 seat cars are 1000 lbs heavier than a YXZ.. with about twice the HP.

Would have thought dual clutch would now be state of the art.
Yeah, come on man. Guys want to be Billy Bad Ass of the desert, but don't want to shift because that's too much work.YXZ drivetrain is pretty bulletproof, and I don't think the 5 speed sequential is overly expensive.
I think you’re a car guy too, and you know what the car rags say about CVTs. If we ever buy a SXS (the one off road experience my wife actually likes), I’m hoping for dual clutch, same as in a sports car.Yes the Talon does shift automatically. I don’t know if they are gonna stick with the belts on these things long term, but it allows them to use lighter driveshafts, half shafts, transmissions, etc because the belt will take shock and slip before causing damage to more expensive components.
Belts are a wear item, they do break but all the manufacturers have them pretty well figured out now.
Someone will pop in and say they go through a belt a day, and someone else will retort and say they have 5000 miles on their belt.
Why sell now you are this close to delivery? Take delivery, drive it for a weekend and flip it for more profit at this point.
Close to delivery. That's some funny shit right there!

Any case, good luck on your new toy. Sounds like fun and state of the art in every other aspect.
Remember when you wanted to bet money that you would have a car by January. Pepperidge farms remembersWhy sell now you are this close to delivery? Take delivery, drive it for a weekend and flip it for more profit at this point.
What’s funny is paying another 20k and still waiting for a Polaris
So, who has a spot for sale?
Early Talon owners report problems with that system. Dunno if Honda ever had a solution.Would have thought dual clutch would now be state of the art.
For msrp (today?) lmaoI have 113 and 312 on four seaters with a ton of options.
