I just got back to work from seeing Carl. Talked to his sister on the phone for awhile. Here is what I know...

The bad: Carl is on life support. He is hooked up to everything they have. Great hospital. Great people. He is getting the best care he can get. But he is unresponsive right now. Nobody knows what went wrong. He had been in his chair at his house for days. He is lucky he was found when he was.

The good: His color looks fine. And even though it hurts bad to see someone you love, hooked up to a ton of machines, I put my hand on his head and whispered sweet nothings in his ear. Told him how Wheeler wanted me to slap him around. How Denny wished him his best. That RD and Paul were gonna come see him, that riverbound is on his way too. I told him how much everyone here loved him, and wanted him to come back and have a few more beers with us. Told him to heal up, be strong, don't give up, and come hang with everyone again.

And I really do think he heard me...

Even though he is hooked up to a ventilator, it seemed like his breathing got easy as I was talking to him. Maybe wishful thinking on my part, who knows. But I think if you do go see him and talk to him, he will know you are there in some way. Go see him.

If you believe in prayer, now is the time to do it.

So sad to hear this. What a great guy. Thoughts and prayers for sure. I will also try to get up to the hospital at some point.

I read all this with a heavy heart, and we will continue to lift him up in prayer.
I am going to just put this out here.
27 years ago prayer saved my infant son's life. Even the doctors used the word "miracle"...and they used it more than once. I have never forgotten, and never will.
So...if you believe...keep praying.

One or two will most likely be fine.

When they asked me how I was related, and I said he was my brother...

Carl is six five and I'm five six. Pretty sure they knew I was lying. 😜

I just left there. They will let up to 3 at a time in the room.

Hammer and another of his neighbors were there. We chatted with him he moved his left hand several times, we asked the nurse if that was involuntary and he said no he is doing it. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come. I will continue to pray for you Carl. Keep fighting the good fight, summer is on the way and the river will be calling soon!

I'm convinced he is coherent and wanted to chime in on our stories. Pretty sure he wanted to call me a cocksucker and call my bluff when he lifted his hand.

I encourage people to visit and pray that the company of his friends will help him come around.

And even if you don't believe, it's still a great time to give it a shot.

Over the past 2 years prayer has made a difference in our lives, sometimes prayer from a non believer can be a powerful tool.

I have friends and relatives that pray for everything under the sun, the most trivial stuff imaginable.
I don't pray lightly, I like to think it adds significance to a prayer when saved for the most important obstacles we face.

This would be one of those times.

Hey guys...please include my name when you are talking to him...I know alot of you don't know me...but I feel so lost here in Boise...my wife and I had a good cry last night in talking about him...my wife adores him..

I have to tell you this story and it's haunting me..I had been calling and texting as I had said in my original post..it was really unlike him to not return a call...so the day before he went into the hospital my phone rang and his mugshot showed on my phone...I looked at it and said "finally"...I answered and he hung up...I just can't help but think about him calling for some kind of help...I'm sure he won't remember..

I was telling Carl that "Lou" and the rest of the NRKA krew where going to miss him at Billy b's next weekend. At that moment he lifted his hand, as I finished telling him we will see him at the next one. I thought it was a muscle reaction at the time. A few minutes later Lynch and Fred showed up, as we were talking he lifted his hand again, that's when the doc told us that it was All Carl doing that. In hindsight I'm convinced he wanted to relay a message to you(I can hear it now, "tell that cocksucker Lou..."). Have faith, I believe he is resting up to come back in full force. I think he knows you are their in spirit.

I really want to go see Carl and call him,,,,,

Carmel Carl, That's been stuck in my head all day.... Ol bilgie made that one up a few years ago and I have been calling Carl that ever since.

I would very much appreciate it if one of you folks who is going in to see him tomorrow would tell him that I am praying for him and thinking of him. When he is home and healthy I will make a trip down there just to take him up on the offers he has made to me over the years.
