I'm not a religious person, but I'm praying for CC today, one of the nicest and most helpful people on these boards.

Keep fighting CC!

I'm Carl's sister. We're hopeful. He's still unresponsive, but pneumonia, blood sugar and internal bleeding has improved. He has great care at Presbyterian hospital. We appreciate all love, and were passing it to him. I'll kit.

Thank you for taking the time to post an update. Our prayers and thoughts are with Carl and your family at this time. Please let us help in any way you might need. No task is too big or too small.

As said by many Carl is without a doubt one of the good guys. ALWAYS one to open up what ever he had and offer it to you, to make you feel welcome. Would make anyone feel like they had known him for years the first time that they met him.

I always looked forward to having a drink with him at the motorhome at Marine Stadium and in the parking lot at the Catalina Ski Race every year. He always makes time for everyone. He came to my son's baby shower and his 1st birthday. He gave my son a baby book that he had kept from when he was a child. It was by far the most heartfelt gift that we received that day and probably since. Always the giver and never the taker. He is the type of man that many strive to be and one that I would hope my son would grow up to be like.

Get well soon Carl...your work is not done here!

As I sit and think about Carl and I'm so far away...there's a lesson in here for all of us..For those of us that know him well..he likes his smokes and his cocktails..(we have that in common, not the smokes)..But in talking to him recently or at least the last several months he's been on a job that has been super stressful on him...he works for Macy's and is a construction superintendent...but this job was not going any good direction and I could tell by talking to him...things were very rough. So ease the stress in your life if you can..... Stress is a killer..

Since this thread was posted I have been waffling back and forth on whether or not I should finish his Billet Ashtray or not.. Stacy said I should, but I was thinking after reading this he probably shouldn't be smoking anymore.. (Actually has given me some serious self reflections on my own smoking / drinkin etc.. Although I have cut down considerably from what I used to drink)

You are correct. I was working down the street from him and we were supposed to meet for lunch. He text me the morning of and said he was swamped at work and could not make it. Very stressful job. He's been on my mind all day. I'm praying that he gets well soon. I look forward to a day on lake Mohave w him.

Been thinking about you a lot, CC. Hoping that as each hour passes while we wait here anxiously for good news, you are getting stronger and headed toward the road to recovery.

I was wondering if you could make an update only thread that nobody replies to only update on his condition. Since lunch time there has been 5 or 6 me pages added. although I do like reading these In the evening, throughout the day when I'm busy at work I would like to be able to do a quick check on his updates.

That would be more than fantastic if it happens! I don't have time to constantly read this thread and can't get the condition of CC off my mind :(

I am not much different than most on this forum. I have never had the pleasure of meeting Carl but I've been lurking on this site longer than I care to admit. Carl seems to have the personality of a handful in a million and at least as far as the Internet goes is one of the most likable and most entertaining people I have ever had the pleasure of not meeting. I don't think that came out right but I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say. In his post it appears as though this man would give you the shirt off his back. I'm so sorry how badly I've butchered this post but I've had such a tough year with friends and family members with accidents and deaths this year that it's just ridiculous. That coupled with the news from V3 on Monday about his future and now Carl is just very difficult!
Carl hopefully when this is behind you you'll read this thread and understand how much you mean to people here. My prayers and positive thoughts go out to you and if you're sister is reading this I would like to thank her for the updates.

First, thanks to Carl's Sis as well as PVHCA and everyone else who have reached out and posted updates. One of our local (La Habra) pals went to PIHC last night and was told that CC was 'not receiving any visitors but that his family had been with him all day'.

When Carl reads all of this he will be doing it with a trademark smirk, probably hiding the knowledge that he has more friends than he ever thought he had, some of whom he has never met. The smirk is not new. Carl has had it for pretty much all of the 50+ years I've known him. Growing up a couple blocks apart we shared the same neighborhood and schools with dozens of common friends. We kind of drifted during HS and after College, different sports and different classes but had you seen him in 1970, you would have recognized him immediately: well dressed, perfectly coiffed, with a pocketful of cash, a fresh deck of smokes, and usually behind the wheel of an American made land yacht.

We reconnected a couple decades later and have shared some great times. We have clinked glasses together at both of our homes as well as in far flung outposts of fun all over. We belong to the same (informal) men's historical society (ECV) and have killed many a campfire together. Always an epic entertainer, Carl enjoys doing things like passing out ice cream treats in the middle of the desert after dinner when on an impromptu trap shooting adventure. I'm dodging scorpions and sleeping in the bed of my truck and Carl has ice cream sandwiches. :cool Crazy.

I look forward to Carl's recovery soon so we can again share a moderate amount of totally immature blended scotch.

Thank you Carl's sister for taking the time to post updates on your brothers condition at this stressful time. I live about 20 minutes form Carl's house and have been there a few times to drop off boat parts or pick up boat parts and hang out in general. I know he no longer has Harley but if there is anything that needs to be done it would be my pleasure to go do it, whatever it may be. It would be the least I could do to return the generosity he has shown me.

Hey Carl I know you aren't reading this stuff right now but that tight embrace pulling feeling you have is all of us in your extended family letting you know you are a treasure around these here parts and its not time for you to go anywhere but back here and the river. So take all the time you need and relax for a bit don't stress about work they will figure it out and they might even appreciate you more! This is just a bachelor wake up call to take care of yourself and get a couple health issues ironed out so you will be able to enjoy life for much, much longer. Bottom line is the world does not have enough people even remotely close to the type person you are and that's a dam shame so you really have no say in the matter, your stuck here in the asylum until further notice.:D:thumbsup

I have been going since 3 this morning and jus sat down and ate some dinner. While reading all the post here. I can say that there hasn't been much time today , that hasn't gone by without thinking of Carl , in fact I found my self jus kinda staring at nothing , hoping and wishing for some good news.

A lot of nice post and words said , that I agree with .. For the folks that haven't met Carl in person or had any time spent with him, you pretty much know what kind of guy he is and that will make u enjoy him that much more.

I would like to thank Carl's sister for putting up the update, very kind of her during this time, and also thank you Phil for getting some info as soon as he could.

My thoughts are with Carl and his family,

Hey all, there is no need to thank me, I made a phone call, something everyone of us would have done to get some info on a pal. Carl is no ordinary pal to many here, Carl made an impression on me long ago, I look forward to his speedy recovery.

I made a deal with myself long ago to cut back on Internet forums and promised not to come back here ever, but this situation is well worth all the crap I'll take from those who might use it to attack my integrity or just make childish fun. Carl is worth all that and more so here goes:
Carl is as good a person as most will ever need to meet. He's sociable, he's knowledgeable and he's more than entertaining. This thread alone is witness to his value to us all and I, for one, have included him, by name, in my personal prayers because I believe that matters. He's in a very tough spot right now but he's got a lot of very good people pulling for him as witnessed by this thread.
Thank you Dave for providing the perfect forum for his friends to gather and pull for him. This has more input than PB and Facebook combined and that lends a great deal of credence to the camaraderie here at your site. Thank you again!
I'll continue to pray for his recovery for selfish reasons - I really like to be around him, as well as for him to enjoy all that he does. He's talented, fun and a great friend to so many. His touching celebration of Bob "GN7's" life exemplified who he really was. Hurry back, my friend.

Carl came up to me during the last enduro and introduced himself. Class guy, nice guy, and a class act.

Truly hope he is getting better. There are not a lot of good guys in the world and the world can't stand to lose any of them.

Get well Carl.

As of 2000 tonight, Carl's restful with beautiful classical music in the room. He's getting fantastic nursing care. He's at Whittier Presbyterian hospital CCU 6108, I told the staff, 'he has lots of bothers coming to visit.' Don't make me a liar! Please come sooner, rather than, later. He's unresponsive, but, I'm convinced that he hears us. Thanx for sending all the prayers, The Petersen family!

Yes, please let us know ASAP when it's ok to visit. I'm sure everyone is waiting to go see him and let him hear our voices.

I think she just said that she told the doctors he had brothers coming and it was okay to go see him.

I read that differently.. But now that you said it like that I'm wondering if I read it incorrectly?

I'm would like to make a turn around trip tomorrow. Anyone at the river that wants to go is welcome to come.

I will talk to Stacy and see what we have going on.

Can someone who goes today please let us know if we can see him? I would like to make the trip there if I can. I would hate to make the drive and be turned away if that makes sense.
