Major escalation is maybe the wrong words.......war is closer. Mme thinks Israel is trying to get Iran to act. Would give them an excuse to get busy on their uranium enrichment sites.
Poking different bears...just last week we OK'd a massive arms shipment to Israel.

...and yesterday(?) big upset in the Turkish elections. A relatively new guy in politics beat out Erdegon. Stuff is changing quickly...

Erdogan's party lost some local races by large unexpected margins, he still has 4 more years if I'm not mistaken.

Update(1450ET): Tehran is vowing a "harsh" response to the Israeli attack on its embassy and consulate earlier in the day, which killed at least five to eight people, reportedly including IRGC leaders. Iran's foreign minister slammed it as "a violation of all international obligations and conventions" while the Syrian government denounced it as a "terrorist attack".

Iran's Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari was not injured in the attack, which appeared to have occurred at the moment a high level meeting was taking place. Iranian state media has since confirmed the death of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in the elite Quds Force of the IRGC. There are further indicators that two more top IRGC commanders may be among the slain...

Update(1838ET): Monitors cited in AFP report the death toll from Monday's Israeli air strike on the Iranian embassy complex in Damascus has risen to 11. "The death toll from the Israeli strikes on the Iranian embassy annex has risen to 11: eight Iranians, two Syrians and one Lebanese -- all of them fighters, none of them civilians," AFP quoted the war monitor as saying.

Regional and international reaction came hours later, with Lebanese Hezbollah -- a close ally of Iran -- vowing that Israel will be "punished" for the attack. As we detailed earlier (below), several top IRGC commanders were killed in the strike at a moment a high-level military meeting was taking place.

Russia's Foreign Ministry reacted as follows: "We strongly condemn this attack on the Iranian consular office in Syria. We consider any attacks on diplomatic and consular facilities, the inviolability of which is guaranteed by the relevant Vienna Conventions, to be categorically unacceptable."

US Fumes Over IDF Strike On Aid Workers, But Still Refuses 'Conditions' On Military Transfers

Celebrity chef founder blasts Israel for "indiscriminate killing" of his employees...

TUE APR 2, AT 1:35 PM
At the same time, The US was the only vote at the UN Security Council to vote against a ceasefire.
That one vote had Veto power, meaning the other 15 or so votes didn’t matter.
The Ceasefire measure failed Because of that one vote from the US.

Update(1831ET): With Israel's embassies around the world on a heightened state of alert, and extra IDF reservists called up, and home and weekend leave for all combat troops having been abruptly canceled Thursday, the Israeli population is anxiously awaiting a response - with some reports saying residents are already seeking the safety of bomb shelters.

Tehran has vowed that vengeance is coming soon for the Monday Israeli airstrike on its embassy in Damascus. Most pundits believe this will take the form of ballistic missiles raining down on Israeli cities. But Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly vowing that if the Islamic Republic launches missiles from its soil it will ensure "a strong response" from Israel.

Israeli officials have told Axios late in the day that such an act would "take the current conflict to another level" which most certainly would involve a direct Israel-Iran war and thus the eruption of a broader regional conflict.

Didn't bombing another countries embassy, in yet another country, already, "take the current conflict to another level."?

I understand the concept of Iranian proxies. This is kid of like Russia striking a US Embassy in the UK, because of our backing of Ukraine.

Israel strikes an Iranian target in Syria. Iran will strike back. We hate Iran, and they us, so we back up Israel.

Nobody even mentions Syria...which seems odd. They haven't said much either, which seems even more odd.

The other thing that seems weird, Israel bombing the crap out of Lebanon. I understand that they are harboring the groups that started this. What strikes be as weird is the huge campus the state department has been building in Lebanon the past few years. Not a word said about it since the fall.

Hamas refusing to release the hostages says pretty much everything. The Ramadan cease fire demands are asinine.
Cease fire for Hamas Holy month, but Carte Blanche to attack Israel on October 7, Israel's Holiest time.

There's an infection. What to do? Sickness and infection are hard to kill. Sometimes they require stronger medicine...

You would think there would be a ginormous exodus of war torn refugees, but there's not. They are all hostages. Of Hamas.

It doesn't look good. Biden is no Ronbo. Hamas has zero intention to release any hostages, if any still live. RIP.
Hamas are butchers.

The Algiers Accords were 45 years ago...

But if you do go through and kill or rape someone they’ll let you out and tell you to return to the court at a later date - and you know how many willfully return for their sentencing.

‘Extremely deadly’ and that the payment ‘would be immediately used to start violence, bloodshed and mayhem throughout the Middle East and all around the world,

he continued to say that ‘Iran would use this money on for their nuclear weapons deal program which would put Israel, the United States and the whole world in very grave peril’

Costing countless innocent lives.’ In closing Trump said ‘Biden put a bounty on every American head.’

Dear American Democrats and Liberals around the world, was Trump right?

So we shot down HUNDREDS of drones and missiles? Almost none of it caught on video? Anyone else think somethings fishy about this so called unprecedented attack?
You’re not alone.
Even a FOX analyst opined that something seems fishy about this, and the Oct 7th Hamas attack.
She implicated the Clowns In America, without actually saying it. Since both attacks preempted coverage of a Trump Rally.

Some video posted in places. I wouldn't say "hundreds". Jordan shot one down that ended up killing some civilians. (Could have been it just crapped out though too.) There was some video on social media from Tel Aviv, some explosions near an air force base in the south as well. Haven't done much looking today though.

"Never underestimate Joe's ability to f things up." Joe needs a war. The head of CENTCOM has left Israel. Say what?

WW3? Nah. Gravy train 2.0 Mission Possible-Middle East Front. A new angle. Ukraine playbook without the middlemen.
Who will jump in between? The Arab nations? Not between Iran and Israel. FAFO. Between those 2, there will be a one sided air war. Iran's going to glow in the dark. Iran has less than 200 fighter aircraft. Dust of some F15's, Israel's Air Force response would still be generations ahead. Iran just opened the door to bunker busting Carte Blanche on their Nuclear facilities.
