In the late 1980's, I received a call from one of my field Sparky foreman's wife, crying and asking me to please retrieve her husband that she suspected was hiding out on a binge in some sleezy no-tell-motel in El Cajon.
Apparently this wasn't the first time he'd disappeared for a few days, leaving his wife to care for their son while he binge drank himself into a coma.

Feeling sorry for her and needing my damned foreman back, I headed to the shady district of El Cajon. Didn't take long while cruising the shit-bag motels and sure enough there was his truck.
I picked the unit directly in front of it and knocked loudly.
After a few attempts, the door opens and there stands the 6'2" & 250lb man we'd nicknamed "Mike Bob" due to his redneck demeaner, wearing a wig, in full make up, wearing a knee length floral print f*cking DRESS with those big hairy legs supported by high heels.

Now that brother, is a sight you can never, ever, erase from your mind's eye.

Sorry I digressed, but you see, that last paragraph you wrote, caused this miserable flashback moment to re-play in my damned head.
In that regard, I felt compelled to share.

Anyway, he returned to work, and as difficult as I found it, neither of us ever mentioned "The Incident" to his crew or between us again.
About 6 months later his young son got a hold of some matches and burned their apartment to the ground, including all their worldly and uninsured possessions.
Mike Bob and family moved back home to the swamps with his parents. I'm sure his saga continued, but thankfully, not on my watch.

The DoD moved two B-52's to Qatar today to threaten Iran. Now, I'm not a strategist, or a geopolitical brainiac, but why send the slowest moving thumpers we have to threaten an area that may have access to decent anti-aircraft stuff? We could have landed 2 B2's in Qatar, and they could do some damage without risking the crews nearly as much if indeed used to smack Iran.
