I love the people that say...."You broke the LAW." LOL

You do realize that there are quite a few levels of "law breaking" ...infractions, misdemeanors, and felonies. And this type of "law breaking" is not even considered an infraction, so there is NO criminal implication in a fix it ticket....in layman's terms, you broke a code/rule. Now, if you ignore it, it can escalate into criminal implications.

These types of laws/rules are more administrative/opinion than safety. It is just how some people have decided to create a standard. Obviously safety is not the issue as you can see radical variances from state to state. So, it is best described as the state standards, vs. law. That is why there is no criminal implication...there are just fines/fees. Now, front license plates, tinted windows and other "illegal" mods have been greatly ignored by quite a few people or they are just willing to pay the minor fees/fines or fix-it and keep on doing what they are doing. Has CA realized that they can boost the fees/fines along with enforcement and see significant revenue increases? Pretty hard to fight these kinds of tickets (unless you know me) and so that is a real possibility. Is getting pulled solely for these types of violations BS? I think most people think so. Until LE has significantly knocked down crime, most of us think that LE should spend their time going after violations that have criminal implications and we all know there is not exactly a shortage in this area.

Back in the day, tinted window, no mud flaps, uncovered off road lights, and etc were actually good to have as often, you would get a fix-it ticket instead of a speeding ticket....at least that worked for me for years. Gave a way for the LEO to account for his time, but still let him have the discretion to let a funny midget off the hook of an infraction. :D

Boy, if I was a cop, I would be one dickhead for sure after reading some of this liberal tripe. Someone even suggesting that I ignore my oath to uphold I would throw the book at. Cops don't get to pick and chose what laws are upheld. Greeting off on a ticket is a "given", a gift. Some people get off so much they expect it now. What if the POTUS just decided what laws he upheld? .. Oh, he already is...
Don't forget to realize that some citizens expect cops to uphold the law, it's mandated. I "want" cops to ticket assholes who think their above the law. If laws suck. There is something called legislature. That's where you complain and cause an effect, not by shooting the messenger.
I don't get tickets and I don't go to jail because I don't violate the law. Someone getting a ticket for anything needs to put blame on themselves. How freakin selfish.
Nice PRF thread. Liberals SUCK!

Keep in mind HM that these minor violations very commonly lead to the discovery of much more serious criminal offenses. They are legal tools that many officers use to conduct investigations by means of contacting people. If you understand that you would also understand that most officers are conducting these stops while spending their time trying to knock down crime...:D which seems to be what you and other really want us doing;)

I'm not a big fan of writting those types of citations but use them frequently to stop and talk to people.

if that's the case mr. law and order explaine the fed's allowing illegal aliens to infest the US and do nothing about it. it's all just bullshit!

look you fuckin dope, the quote was in reference to choosing what laws LEO's are going to enforce! all, any, none, which is it!

tell us all you law abiding citizens and LEO's which ones?

It's comical that you're the one calling me a "fuckin dope". I'd try and "explaine" it to you, but honestly I don't know what the hell you're asking. I failed to see the correlation you're trying to make between illegal immigration and local leo's enforcing certain laws. IMO immigration enforcement and local law enforcement are two different beasts with one common goal. It seems you're trying to throw everybody with a badge and gun under one big umbrella. That's just not the way it is. (At least in the particular area I live in)

If you're referring to illegal immigration then that's handled by the Feds (i.c.e., border patrol, etc). For the most part that's not handled by local law enforcement (with exception to Arizona).

That's a totally different topic. We're talking about local law enforcement in this thread. Not immigration.

Did you know that not having a front license plate, having smoked taillights, and having tinted windows were illegal?

Ignorant: Lacking knowledge or awareness
Stupid: Given to unintelligent decisions or acts

I can understand being ignorant, but I cannot understand being stupid. Either way, we can always blame the cops for our mistakes and we will get plenty of support.

So I got pulled over by CHP on a city street in La Verne for No front plate, tinted windows and smoked tail lights. I don't want to fix my windows. However I'll go put the front plate and stock lights on for a day to get signed off. How much am I looking to pay?

sincerely,
Another pissed off Californian.

Yep... now tell us what happens when they have a valid drivers license, registration and insurance and haven't been drinking or smoking dope, but fail the attitude test. Or should we ask UltraDenis?

Checks and balances...:D Generally speaking IMO unless your a total asshole, putting people in danger, or a gang member, I don't want to waste my time with you anyways.

Attitudes help persuade or possibly even bring attention all the time. Some people are better off just keeping thier mouth shut in most situations;)

I've asked UltraDennis three times,

What happened with the DUI arrest you got?

Wet wreckless? Community service?

What was the outcome?

And Sharpshooter:
Are you going to tell me that SA or the Ontario Airport did not tell you all airports were tightening front lic. plate enforcement after the 06 veh. bomb attacks in London?

I trained with the London PD bomb tech that handled that this week. Plates led them back to suspects in couple hours, just a thought......

This is what happened.... There was one last parking spot up close that ( I thought) I lucked out on. This was a spot bordering a sidewalk ramp. I had a dually at the time and had parked with my outer tire sitting on the edge of the painted boundary stripe. This only left pedestrians like 10 feet to walk.

If the ass hat who had parked in the imediate spot next to me had parked straight, I wouldn't have had to squeeze over in the first place!

So on with the story....

At that time about 6 LAX cops had transferred over to ONT. One of them was famous for walking the parking lots looking for expired tags and out of stall type offenders. His name was Riser. The other cops called him Houdini since he always seemed to disappear.

Riser wrote me for being out of stall and added the no front plate on the ticket while he was at it.

Funny thing about Officer Riser. After a while he realized that I had a 66 mustang and 68 Chevelle (both with no front plates:D) and he started befriending me. It turns out he was also a car guy (rare at the airport) and he liked talking cars.

I actually started to like the guy a little before he was shipped back to LAX. Do you know him?

Actually You're, or should I say "your" the one who doesn't get it. Immigration is handled by the Feds, NOT BY CHP/LOCAL LEO. So your beef is with the Feds. "Your" the only one talking about immigration in this thread! If you want to talk about illegal immigration take my previous suggestion and head over to the political section.

I got a fix it ticket here a few months ago. My windows are blacked out and the dps officer was cool as them come. Probally helped that before he said anything I told him there was a weapon in the truck. Being nice goes along way. I'm betting of you weren't an asshole to him he might have let you go.

This was my first reaction as well. It may seem like a minor infraction, but there's a bigger reason for the law.

If someone stole UltraDennis' boat and his only hope for justice was a front license plate being picked up on a camera...he would be on here flaming the CHP for NOT enforcing the law if the vehicle didn't have one.

You get what you give with LEO's. I speak from the position of Million+ miles in the last ten years in 45 states. Only pulled over three times and never received a moving violation.

Because I'm not a cop pal. I just think with common sense. If you don't want a ticket, obey the law.

Havasu Rehab, you and I think alike.

How hard is it to just go by the rules, and if you get caught bending them a little, just being a man and accepting the fact that you got caught?

Suck it up dude and quit complaining.

Exactly. I got a fixit ticket for my front plate about this time last year. Was I ticked off? Yes. Do I think it's a bullshit law? Yes. Do I think it looks like shit covering up the billet grill on my Camaro? Yes. Did I go on the internet and act like a whiney 16 year old bitch? No. I went down and got it written off. When I move out of this piece of shit state and move to free America, I won't have to have a front plate anymore. :D And I will trade the Camaro for a Jeep :D :D :D

Dennis, you knew what the laws were. You made a concious decision to break them. So when you get caught, the cop is the asshole? Seriously?

BTW, I'm not particulary a fan of cops, but when you get caught blatently breaking the law, please be an adult and not a whiney bitch.

IMHO-CHP are the black sheep of LEOs. The agency is not respected by Cops or Firefighters that do risk life. CHP doesn't provide medical aid, they call FD and become no more than crossing gaurds at Highway accidents.

wow, really?
I strongly disagree! I can think of dozens of firemen that seem to have a great level of respect for the CHP officers.

As for providing medical attention... they all wanted to be firemen anyway... they do step into action in the time of need and assist with medical! You may wanna double check your rear view mirror when you need help out in the middle of rice road or highway 40. That CHP officer is gonna be your first responding person and he is gonna be there by himself waiting and doing what he can for a long time before more help arrives. Reality check, just sayin.

If you dont think that a CHP officer risks his life while on the job, check that again too, because I have been on and off duty onscene of accidents when these guys have gone down, been shot or hit by other moving vehicles (some head on and some on the side of the road while they were providing a safety zone or warning for someone changing a tire).

again, you did state that it was "your opinion", and you can have that.

But there is not a single time that I dont drive by a certain location on highway 15 just before entering the lenwood /barstow area and take off my hat to the officer that was one of 5 killed last year on our highways during a few short months. It hits me a little everytime as I recall being there that June nite a year ago. I am certain to think that his young family waiting for him to come home from work will not agree either. That dad/husband/son gave his life on the freeway, they do put themselves at risk, everyday.

rant over. sry.

Throttle:

I think people dog on CHP so often because generally they are the ones seen handing out the citations all the time.

In reality, sure I call them AAA with a badge and sure am glad I chose the department I did, but they are LEO's for the state just like I am and I wouldn't think twice before backing them up on the side of the road on duty or off.

People don't realize the reality of traffic stops and the dangers they pose. Not to take anything away from LR2 and his highly explosive trinkets he gets to deal with:D but look at the ratio between street cops getting killed on a traffic stop vs other LEO functions. If anybody thinks doing traffic stops all day is a safe way out of things they are wrong.

It's not a step down from your average street cop or local agency, it's simply a different focuss on what type of crime they are enforcing.

Well it took me a while but after reading the whole thing I did stumble upon one obvious conclusion. Ultra Dennis: You are a fag. You bitch and moan like a little girl about how the mean officer gave you tickets. Nut up pussy. Your so mad you posted a thread on RDP? You get satisfaction by posting pussy rants and the rest of the fucktards who agree with you give you some false sense of being right. But no, your still gay. You say CHP salary isn't much, well if your so loaded, pay the fine and quit bitching. Typical douche bag style; you try and come off like such a bad ass when really you come off as a total pussy. I guarantee you could not get a job with the CHP even if you tried. They have a knack for weeding out queers. Eat shit and God Bless :D
