I was speaking more about the general issue than just Parker. You never know though, it could only be a matter of time before Parker is covered with craft breweries, organic coffee shops, and luxury apartments 😂

Actually, that new coffee shop, right when you come over the bridge, is pretty good! 👍🏼

…Probably 66… 67-ish… Saturday morning boated down to Fox’s from the Polynesian tied up at the front of foxes… we got a beer, I suppose???… Jukebox was blasting. People started coming..; Foxes started sinking..:which it did quite often..,Got up to about 8 inches of water and Ronnie Reina…was still out there dancing …splashing water everywhere…. I’m sitting there thinking I wonder how far the water has to go up before everybody gets the shit shocked out of them… bartender chick finally unplugged the jukebox from my guess it was plugged in above… and she gave everybody the boot… Pretty sure they were open that night???…

My only visit to Parker included a visit to Fox's with RD, Riverbound, Nord, Whiteworks, and others one night some years ago, it was a lot of fun and I could see how the memories of that place were very important to the people who spent so much time there. I still have a tank top I bought when we were there. The trip downriver back to the Keys in the wee hours of the am, on RB's pontoon was beautiful. It drove home to me why people find peace down there.
The following morning Outdrive1 took Whiteworks and I for a ride in his DCB. A ride I will never forget.
It was one of many rides I am sure Paul gave, but it was special to me...the river was glass, the boat flat hauled the mail and didn't even seem to be working. It was amazing.
I am sorry for all of you who have lost so many of the touchstones of your lives in recent years along the river. We have lost a few up here in the sticks too...the dollar always wins, it seems. I get it, but it sucks.

417 acres
Same into I got from the La Paz GIS parcel maps --- not clear on the claim that three parcels are going up for auction.

As you discovered, I can only find the one for almost 418 acres ??

Thats what I saw too. Would the state give you any information about the possible sale if you called/emailed?

In this thread, one of the members, I believe it was Clank, posted about another land auction on behalf of the State of Az, perhaps there's some contact number provided there ???? Or at least possible which State agency handles these sales ?

This is probably the most depressing thing I've read in a long time. I would have bet on full scale nuclear war to happen before we saw Fox's and RR closing down.

If you like bloody Mary's, and haven't been to Fox's on a Saturday or Sunday AM, you owe it to yourself to get there and have a few before they close.

Once we lost Badnochs, I knew the party was over. 😔😔

My bitch drink there is a Kettle One Mudslide. To much sugar for 2. Our Echo bar used to have just as good when Laura was bartender. Now I hate to even order a beer at $5.39.

That's a hell of an entourage to roll into Fox's with!

My first boat, a 1964 Rayson Craft sunk right out front of Foxes back in the 70’s …. Still get together with friends that were there that day! Whenever we’re at foxes we still have a toast for that old boat, it’s been going on for years … lol
Sorry to see that all coming to an end, never thought that place could close..

Sure we have deep pockets here but do these individuals not like a solid return on there $$$?

They would probably make more money buying scrapping everything and developing it into lots.

What do you think this land will end up going for? I don't even know if the bar/restaurant adds any value and sadly i feel like the people that bought Foxes years back and invested in the new bar are going to get screwed. Did they think they owned teh land?

My question is how profitable is something like this you would need to sell alot of beers and sandwiches to pay a mortgage on a 2-3-5++??million dollar purchase?

Well that’s why you pencil the numbers have a plan and a max bid.. if the numbers don’t pencil they don’t. If they do they do.

According to this, AZ State Land Trust is supposed to take into account much more than just "highest" bidder, but that concept was put into place in 1915.

Bring back Badenoch's! Maybe the Indians are getting tired of watching the place rot into the ground.........
Have you driven thru the indian properties (housing tracts) on the res lately? By the looks of things over there they think it's charming or something.

They released a handful of properties for lease this year, they were gone as fast as they offered them up. I’m guessing they will clean Badenochs lot off at some point and lease it out as well. I’ve been hearing rumors for years that someone is going to open it back up, but nothing ever changes.

The Coffee Express. Google says it's temporally closed. 🙁

It was closed. New Starbucks in terribles now. Lady at terrible told me coffee shop has been closed. New Starbucks is higher price than the one in Safeway as it is private owned.

There’s a Human Bean going up in Walmart parking lot also. Those are friends of ours and they own the ones in Havasu as well. I hope they do well there. 👍

I believe this is not state trust land.

The story about Badenochs is that they only want to have a tribe member open it up. Others including one famous racer tried to get it.

The other lots were sort of leased out without consideration to the people that were on the waiting list, got that story from the people that were able to snatch them up. I've had an empty lot on either side of me for the entire time I have lived here, going on 9 years now. They also decided now would be a good time to increase the cost of the lease 15%.

They weren’t posted for the public, that’s for sure. That was a closed door you gotta know somebody to get one deal.

That probably relates more to leasing than to outright selling, as protecting the land is often counter productive to generating the highest income.
As an example, the ASLD was asked to approve my property associations continuing maintenance and use of a right of way through a portion of their land as we'd done for 30 years and had it's origin as a road to the mines in the late 1800's.
They sent a representative out, while there, he's nosing around and discovers a couple of huge dry washes that some of us had driven our UTVs through. Barren washes that self-purge and re-create themselves during each successive monsoon season.
Imagine my surprise when I return and find these now "Off Limits to Motorized Vehicles" signs and large boulders and berms constructed to prevent any access.

But if they smell lease $$$$, to reopen a mine road, or for ranchers to access their grazing cattle herds, no problem, just write a check.

Nothing like the sound of Twin Illmors spooled up in the morning or blown alcohol flattys in the evening, Fox’s is unique.

losing memories like these are a bigger loss to me than the ones I have.

my family has been going there for 4 generations now. my grandparents, my parents, me and now my kids. we got to enjoy great times there many times but there will be no more of the first time visits that are so memorable.

sad to see the River evolve but change is inevitable.

Seems like the current concessionaire completely built and floated an entirely new bar and other improvements not too long ago.
Hate to see the place go it was better than ever.

Probably some politician or govt official has a piece of the sale action.

This whole thing reminds me of the Robert frost poem, “nothing gold can stay.”

The entire state of the union is depressing and this is a just another small piece of that. Our collective national history is being erased slowly but surely.

Yep, it’s a bar all right it’s got a sink big bar, top seats, big canopy, I don’t know if it’s just for the boozers that live there. I would suspect that’s the case. I don’t know if it’s gonna be an actual business, but it will be a bar that I know.

Nice, you guys can swim over!!!!
😁
I was thinking more paddleboard or kayak, but since you said swim.

Had a new black Lab we left at the house while we boated across for lunch. Mid week, late 90’s no one out. I see something in the water. Ski boat goes by, stops, looks, kept going. Then I realized that was my Lucy!!! 😱 Who the F leaves a dog out in the middle of the river???

Left our food, raced to get her. She was halfway across ~ on the diagonal ~ and out of breath.

Thank God I didn’t lose her ~ BEST DOG EVER! SWEETNESS beyond compare. ❤️ And she would have won any Launch Dogs contest had I known they existed.

“Mrs.”
