Glenn, where is that battery box being mounted? Many have had battery failures as a result of harmonics in and around the drive line/prop shaft.

Hoping that the battery will go somehwere up by or past the driver (forward).

C

The battery was in the middle now it will be at the passanger stern. Being a Red top I'm not worried :yikes

That really wasn't a request................;)

Both Gary H and Armenian Navy's GN boats have had battery failures when the battery was back by the strut. 5K rpms with 50's in the box puts prop shaft speeds into the 7K's and the harmonics that they create are murderous to batteries.

Just sayin'

;)

As I remember Gary's is behind the drivers seat.

20 gallons at the pass seat should equall the drivers weight I eliminated the ballast tank up front :thumbsup Battery up front a wiring :smackhead

The Harmonics that the V-drive and prop shaft put out seem to grenade a gel style battery no matter how its mounted.

Building a shock absorbed battery mount shouldn't be to hard.. If you have any neoprene maybe extend your poles a hair and let it squish the battery onto it?

Are you suggesting that neoprene will eliminate prop shaft harmonics?

Well latex is a good way to discourage shaft harmonics. What were you thinking?

I was just asking if he had any facts on neopreme as a harmonics eliminator or was he guessing.

My thinking would be to follow Andrew/Gary/Armenian Navy methods to get the battery as far from the strut as possible.

Nothing, that's why a lot of people use acid batteries..

I absolutely think laying down neoprene and compressing a battery in it, would insulate it from "harmonics."

RD

Neoprene is way to dense :blah::blah::blah:
I like the battery forward on the bulkhead idea. I believe that mounting to the stringer would also transfer the vibrations witch run approx. 3 x the shaft RPM, roughly 21000 :eek

Who is the Physics Guru here? Harmonics=Frequency, I dont think it has anything to do with mounting location or any kind of insulating properties. Latex :thumbsdown Lol!

Odyssey....... I've been using these for years in offroad racing.... Never had a failure.... I've broke frames, battery mounts, engine mounts, shocks, rims, Trailing arms, skid plates, sheared coils off, fuel pumps all at 10,000 RPMs and I still have the same battery.... It's a dry cell battery with the plates packed tightly.... You can mount them upside down if you want.... I will show you the specs later Glenn xoxoxo

2 odyssey 925's. BoostPower gave me a good deal on them

Use thick welding cable back to the motor. She fires right up and runs like a champ. Plus the batteries aren't getting hammered

I second odyssey. Optimal are a fat cry from what they used to be. Unfortunately all of our battery boxes are optima specific or we would be switching.

Sad part Glenn is that I have had 2 Oddessey failures in the last 5 years. The batteries that supposedly never leak leaked all over a customers powdercoating. I switched to a lifeline and so far so good. Just an opinion

Looks like youre on your way to getting it done...

We use total power batteries in all our race vehicles. Lighter then others mentioned, dry cell so you can mount them any way. The last pair lasted 4 seasons with only charging from the alternator, never once needed to mount them to a battery charger. We have tried a lot of batteries in our years of racing, the Total Powers by far have been the best for racing purposes! :thumbsup

How about that ugly purple one that runs the strip?

Glenn wants pics from the drivers side (its the driver that makes that purple one ugly, so we don't take any pics from that side) lol. I think he's after 21s with exposed turbo motors.....
