Wife & I vacationed here at LOTO a few times & loved it. I desperately needed out of Kommiefornia. It's not paradise but it's absolutely perfect for us.

Raised our kids in Torrance, CA. Great place at that time to be there. People laugh at me, but i got tired of the weather. 68 and foggy was the norm. In retirement, havasu fits wife/my life perfect. Boat/Offroad,
Etc. Just glad we bought the house 15 years ago or we wouldn’t be here

Yes I do...which is really good, because it was a total crap shoot. Far enough away from the big city, but a big enough place to have a hospital and such 15 miles away. We do get snow, but only once in 11 years has it been enough to be a problem.

I like my neighbors, the mountains a few miles away and seeing blue skies. I grew up seeing nothing but houses on three horizons, and Mt.Baldy to the north. It's different here, but I love it.

Stuck behind the iron curtain here in L.A. County. 🤪 Yes, it is nice for a number of reasons, but I wouldn't mind moving out of California. My wife has lived here her whole life so I doubt we'll be leaving anytime soon.

I don't love where I live. If it wasn't for friends and family, I would absolutely love to live in a small town. Slower pace of life and better people. So Cal is shit.....everyone is in a rush and literally will kill you just to get one car ahead in traffic. Sick of the rat race, just want some nice views, stars and no traffic.

… I can’t stand it in North Hollywood… But, I do have to tolerate it… This used to be a secondary home to me, till I broke my neck up at my place above, Lake Oroville..,Now due to old age… health issues, and the fact that where I lived above Lake Oroville burned to the ground… sort of stuck here..,
… I wish I was in better health… I would be looking for my next really cool place to live…
.., Up at Lake Oroville. It used to be Eany Meany, Miney Mo..,which boat do I put in the water today.., not the deal in North Hollywood even though there are two boats here that did not burn…
…So true about who you live around and who are your imediates… the house, north of me, neighbor, girl, her boyfriend, and her grandma… They are my family… Neighbor girls, saved my life when I was in the hospital… the other close neighbors….we call it the invasion of the Armos😳🤷🏽‍♀️

I live in Murrieta. I have the house, shop, and property I’ve always wanted. Now I want more property, a bigger shop, and a smaller house 😂 Neither my wife or I could have the caliber of jobs and the money we make here. We looked at moving out before we built our house 4.5 years ago, but it didn’t pencil out. We plan to retire out though. My only concern is healthcare. I don’t expect an easy go if it in retirement due to my current and former careers. I really want the rural life (because I have a version if it now) but access to healthcare is my concern.

So true.... not a gun guy myself but never lived in an area where they'd be necessary.... lotsa buds in SoCal said come to my gun shop to get a weapon before you go.... well, they don't particularly care for guns down here on civilians ha.... Cartel oh yeah & AKs preferred.... so I chose a highly secured home to check it all out a year or two.... as for the lawyers I spoke with my SoCal rep and basically if/ when it goes down he pays the Mexi lawyer/ court/ judge.... cost of lifestyle.

No, I absolutely hate it. I’m stuck here (family) . I grew up here (Santa Clarita,Ca) and it was a great place to grow up. It’s turning into an overcrowded shithole with more homeless and crime. I go through moments of resentment. I wish moving out of state was realistic. It puts me in a bad mood talking about it. 🤷‍♂️😂

I can’t say I LOVE it. It is much better than where we lived in California. The shortcomings are partially due to my laziness and lack of money to really take advantage of everything the DFW area has to offer. There’s so many places we’re closer to now being in the Midwest. Don’t get me wrong, I loved a lot of things about CA, and miss our family a lot. But, my wife and kids are much happier on this current adventure.

I was born and raised in Stockton, Ca, 4 years ago the wife and I moved to Ripon a very small town of 15k compared to Stockton. It’s located between Modesto and Manteca and Stockton being about 15 miles North. Ripon is right off Hwy 99, all that being said like many others we don’t like California. My little town has no crime to speak of, tinted windows no updated tags you will likely find your trunk and doors open. The local PD doesn’t F around they have a special way of knowing your not from here. Great schools but like everywhere very expensive. There’s always a but, but my family is close and our only son and my grandsons 15 and 13 are just a town over. Love where I live but despise the state. Also right in the heart of the Almond farms. I’m 67 wife 64, I would always be open to an out of state move down the road.

Born and raised in San Clemente and Dana Point. Moved out to AZ near Lake Pleasant. Absolutely love it out here. Only place that would be better is Havasu.

I love where I live right now, but am totally looking forward to someplace else to fall in love with where I can be on a boat every damn day of my life. Wife is totally bought into that plan as well, which is good or I'd have something else new to fall in love with.

Love? No, but i can live pretty damned well on my wages and im 15 minutes from the launch ramp. Would love to move to Havasu but that means hour drive to work vs 15 minutes, and the cost of living:home prices are triple or more.

I didn’t and that’s why we sold our house in canyon lake and made a huge change. We can’t leave California because I have built my business here locally, and it would be too hard to start over. We got a 15 acre farm in Pauma Valley. We will be able to raise our boys on property how we would like to and feel like we aren’t living in Southern California while still only a 25 minute drive to Temecula. Like my buddy told me “ it’s hard to raise men living in a track house when there is no real work to be done.” We are excited to get our house built and start our new life.

I gotta say again.... I like the thread.....been watching the posts..... I'm kinda thinking early on that some of us are happy where we live if we're in loving and beneficial situations regardless of proximity .... in the end its all about who we are spending our times with and the locations become secondary. Its a big big world
Plenty of folks on RDP atthe age where we have options and its informative to hear feedback what is working for some... in the end its who we hang with where we are and I understand @lake p.a.l. gets that

I loved San Diego for 30 years. CA went in a different direction than what I wanted. I really liked our TN place, but the amount of work it takes to keep it how I like it was/is too much. I can still do it, but it makes it less enjoyable, so we are going to sell it at some point. Our place in Sarasota we love. We just have so much fun here. When the TN place sells we will buy a new house here in Sarasota. Then we will spend summers at the new place and the winters at our resort that we enjoy so much.

What does your wife think? December thru February are pretty rough here.

Bought our place here in the Keys 10 years ago. Moved here full time 3 years ago after living in MD for 64 years. Not perfect here but I’ll finish out my life in paradise. Forgot to mention the boating here is nice.

I’m a 4rd generation Angelino and contractor. My Great Grand Father was a plumber in Whittier in the 1920s with a 3 digit license. I loved it here for many years but now can’t wait to get the fk out.

Likely less than 18 months to go..

Like Austin, but don't love it.

Can't think of anywhere else that would allow me to do everything I like though.

Rank-ordered:

1. Warm weather
2. Different geography and/or history (Hill Country, Cowboys & Indians)
3. Music/tech/art scene (SXSW)
4. Boat (Lake Travis)
5. Drive (Twisted Sisters)
6. Off-road (parks only)
7. Shoot

Austin has the best scene and driving, just not different enough to love.

FL Keys? Most different and best boating, but no 3, 5, 6, or 7.

Havasu? Best off-road and shooting (public land), but no 3.

LOTO? Great boating, but no 2 and 3.

Always looking for suggestions.

I like where I’m at (Lake Havasu). Nice house in a nice neighborhood with plenty of local activities. There are some downsides. Havasu is a city in transition. It’s lost a lot of the “small town feel “ that it had when I was younger but doesn’t quite have all the conveniences of a larger city. It used to be pretty cheap to live here but I think that local inflation has outpaced national numbers.
On the upside, my daughter lives in Kingman so only about an hour away and that makes it easy to stay close. Arizona is pretty gun friendly which is a big plus for me. All in all I’m pretty happy here.
