They are projecting over 5 inches for Rocky Butte over the next 2 days. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets close to spilling if it doesn't. It's at 783' right now and full pool is 800'. Although that includes a 13 foot inflatable spillway extension that they would like to avoid using if possible. Hopefully I'll be able o get some spillway shots this weekend....

Let me ask you this and keep in mind I lived in Atascadero for a while and used Naci quit a bit. Have you ever not been able to use the lake due to the water level? It seems like every year everyone freaks out about the lake level but by Spring early summer when people actually use the lake its has received plenty of water from rain run off. This is what I noticed when I lived out there.

I'm assuming you're referring to if there has ever been a time where the ramps are out of the water? If so, I believe there have only been a couple months where that has been the case. But, when the lake gets below about 730' they stop keeping the hazard markers current and I believe below 725' the main ramp are the only 2 lanes that still go into the lake. Now there are several other areas that have dirt ramps that are still useable just about all the way to dead pool.

So the lake is "useable" all the way til there is literally no water. But it's useable in the regard that you can get a boat on the water and can go from one point to another. But, you really cannot recreate on it safely much at all below about 720'.

I would sleep in a tent if need be. Not bad at night in summer. Although I only did it once in the past. No full hook ups so never ran my a.c. at night. We did a run a extension cord to the bathroom to keep the soft tub hot.

Id be happy to help if someone wants to spearhead it. I'm just far too busy to do so myself now-a-days.

I'm hoping to be living here through July so any weekend before August is great for me.

My good friend worked with Kevin for Mike for a few years. Met Kevin a few times. Always wanted a water front spread at Naci. Ended up in Parker when lake went dry years back.

Kevin is on four of my jobs right now. Do you know Craig and Chris Stephenson?

Not that I recall maybe by face. I was a Naci regular from 99-2010ish. My area for work is Torrance and PV occasionally Manhattan, Redondo and Hermosa beach. My good architect friend gets builds up your way and Venice. The drive time kills me. I avoid the freeway for work if possible.

I stay in west LA and the valley just for that reason. I turn down job's in PV & the beach cities all the time.

Had to have been '06. I was there (didn't camp, just hung out on the boats) with my boat which I didn't get til '05. The girlfriend k had at the time was around '06 I do believe.

Dale's property was just fucking PERFECT for parties like that. I got a buddy whose family has 28 acres on the water in Bee Rock but there are far too many family members involved there to do anything like that.

Also, BTW, the first time I hung out with anybody from the boards and I was immediately hooked. Mostly due to Shadow and his wife's openess.

I wish I had more guys motivated. There is no shortage of work that's for sure. You close to the fire areas can't imagine how much work coming up there. Those mansions are 2 year projects to build new with a army of guys.

So can you launch at oak shores? Shocking that whole ramp is underwater lol

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I believe they still launch when it's that high but it's a PITA. You have to back your truck way down in shallow water to get to the launch so the water goes up to the frame. I think they have a tiny single side lane up higher they use when it's way high. Heritage has one too.

Is debris an issue when water comes up that much like it is at Powell?

Yeah, it's pretty damn cold and there is far too much shit in the water from all the run off. They usually do a pretty good collection job near the dam. I haven't gone over to the dam to see if they have been doing so lately though.

Just unreal what a couple months of decent rain can do to the lake. It's gotta be spilling over.

Oak Shore launch ramp and parking lot is under water.

They haven't posted levels yet for this morning's readings but as of yesterday's levels, the lake is less than a foot from going over the concrete spillway. They'd have about another 13ish feet of vertical capacity with the inflatable spillway gates up (that's when the picnic tables at Heritage are underwater and we are launching from the parking lot). I haven't heard the long term forecast yet, but so far the forecast is pretty dry for the next 10 days at least. Monday it's supposed to get up to 74...

I decided to go by the dam this evening on my way home. Here are a couple new pictures for you guys. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are of the front and back of the spillway. You can see the Obermeyer gates partially inflated. The water is actually above the original full pool level of 787.25'. the last one is Heritage's ramp. The steep ramp potion in now totally underwater. The break over point is actually about 10" below the water level.

So being that the lake is at the point of going over the spillway, does that mean they were justified in dropping the level as low as they did in anticipation of the inflows from this seasons storms?
It's a crap shoot. They make the yearly release schedule in sometime like February or March of each year. There is NO WAY for anybody to guess how much rain will fall in the season that far out. They got extremely lucky. If we had the approx 10" season like we did last year instead of the more than double that this year so far, we would not be using the lake much at all this year and there would been hell raised like none other.

And BTW, it can still go up another 12 feet before it will spill. Those inflatable gates are actually 13' tall.

Whats the story with lake San Antonio? I havent been there in years, but heard its a dried up mud pit as well? Will all of the rain have any impact on it and its future or is it a done deal?

San Antonio's watershed is 1/3 the size of Nacimiento's, and since Monterey County drained BOTH lakes last year, it's still VERY low. It did come up 43 feet since the beginning of January but it's still only at 37 percent.

It doesn't raise like Naci does. It goes up at a normal rate. Probably a good thing it sat dry for a couple years, there were leaches in it for a few years before it went dry.:eek:

Thanks for the pics...If you get a chance, snap some more. Are people in heritage launching from the little single side ramp or can they still use the main lanes?

I don't think it's useable yet. I think I've only seen 1 person use it ever. I've never had an issue launching when. The water is above the ramp. I didn't have an issue launching my uncle's wakeboard boat either when the water was up there.
