Had new neighbors move in to our sub (Florida) . Cali plates  scampered over to chat.
Former LEO and military, stated we wanted to get as far away from California as possible and still be is US.
Figured east coast of Florida would do. Nice addition 👍

Sad because no one can argue against California as a whole is by far the most beautiful state in the Union.
So many ways to enjoy the creation there. So much geographical diversity. So many wonders to stand in awe of which unfortunately includes the insanity and agenda of the state government.

While California does offer some beautiful scenery, I'd be happy to relocate to a less "Beautiful" state and know that my Government shared the same values and principles I had, and I wasn't being taxed to the Nth degree. I'd be happy with less homeless, less crime, less narcotics-related issues and less government supported programs. The continuous smoke and mirrors and the cockgobbling that is ever present in California makes living here frustrating at best. I've said this before, the ONLY reason I'll stick around is because of my beautiful wife and her desire to remain in SoCal. The moment she even hints at relocating...... we're gone.

There may be some to argue. When it comes to ocean views and sunsets....truly awesome.
Driving west into Colorado seeing the mountains for the first time. Breathtaking, walking red rock park unbelievable. number 1 is in the eye of the beholder. Driving route 6 between Keystone, CO and I70 going over the continental divide is an event in itself.

I had the good fortune of driving route 1 all the way from Oregon border to Santa Barbara, hard to stay focused on the road with all the scenery. 👍😊

It’s not the state of California that’s driving people out. It’s the elected officials of a one party state. They’re the ones who enact idiotic laws, bans, quotas and such. Feel bad for those who have to endure such stupidity but certainly cannot blame anyone who is planning to or has already left for more reasonable states.

From what I’ve witnessed, unless voters get the current knuckleheads out of office and start closing agencies, ex. CARB, CA will continue circling the drain until it’s too late to recover. Just one person’s opinion.

It’s the frog in boiling water. The state citizens don’t realize they’re slowly being boiled to death.

I'll end up exiting Cuba-fornia at some point I'm sure.
But I'm starting to look at it a bit different than some.
I've been here 54 years . . . seen pretty much everything I've wanted to . . . a change of venue could be cool.
Every place has it's pro's & cons, some more obvious than others . . . even if I had a magic wand, I still haven't discovered 1 individual 'perfect place'.
I have a Sister in Alaska and one in Louisiana . . . I'd take the Desert heat long before I'd take that cold or humidity . . . but that's Me.

While you are right on point! The only problem is isn't California the 6th or 7th largest economy possibly on the globe, so its much more complicated than getting those DEI focused asshats out of office?

No arguement that it’s designed to be complicated, but the change has to begin somewhere. Fixing the damage already done will take a long time. I just hope the voters wake up in time.

I’ll put up with all the bullshit as long as I have my family by my side, great friends a phone call away, make a good living doing what I like, and I can wear shorts and flip flops on Christmas Day.

There’s no perfect place in the world. I’ll make this as close to perfect as possible and enjoy the great weather while I’m at it.

I think it’s awesome that we get to move where it suits us and have so many options in this country. Everyone should seek their happy place.

Kansas? @ka0tyk be prepared for a major culture shock.

We moved to Wichita. We have visited many times and they had pretty much everything that we had in LA food and shops minus in n out. The people are nice. There’s some weather. It’ll snow 2-6 inches. But in about a day or two it’ll be gone. We have had some flurries today but it’s dry. We have family here that moved here 20 years ago and they’ve done extremely well. They would try to convince us to move every time we saw them. Paid off their house and stacked retirement in record time compared to ca and just talk about quality of life. Also we have more family in Missouri only 4 hours away with a lake house. So the “lake/boating” experience is moving from az to MO. The main goal was getting kids connected to school and friends fast. So we found a new build right next to one of the top schools in the state. Wife was able to find a job a few months ago being the boss of the position she had in CA. Everything has kinda fell into place easily. The bus is 10 minutes away in a covered storage unit. After a year we are going to start looking for property and probably do a barndamonium build. I want a large shop to do projects and store the bus inside. 100%. So we have a goal to look forward to as well as moving into something brand new has helped with the kids morale. My daughter had some stuff from her old school we were taking out of boxes today and she was like “I don’t need that, my new school is way better”. It’ll be interesting meet all the neighbors etc.

Good luck. You and your family are gonna do great. The only bummer is in a few months you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

I was born and raised in Kansas. Leavenworth County.

Wichita has changed drastically in the last 30 years. It was a stale, boring, manufacturing town. At some point some of the city planners realized they would have to start attracting and approving some amenities to draw in the type of people needed to continue to grow.

When I was in High School I wrestled in Wichita every year for semi-finals. We hated going there because it was so bland, It is nothing like that today,

When I said culture shock I didn’t mean it in a bad way. It is a completely different world in the Midwest from the west coast.
As you have already acknowledged there is a lot within 4 hours drive.

Kansas is a fickle state when it comes to government.

And BTW Nebraska is flatter……

Good luck and welcome to Free America!

Boating at any of the lakes in Kansas will be nothing like Arizona or California. This will be an extreme shock for his family. Clinton, Perry, Tuttle, Melvern, Milford, Glen Elder, etc. won’t have anything remotely close when It comes to high end stuff or any thing to do besides camp. Have to go to Lake of the Ozarks to get anything like that.

@ka0tyk , congratulations on the move! Mom's side of the family moved from Topeka during WWII...machinist grandfather. I found if funny, two generations and I wanted to head back east, Kansas or Missouri. We ended up here in AZ because wife still has family in CA. Like you though, you never know what the future holds.

Good luck to you and your family!

Welp, thats a major shift.

I lived in Wichita some as a kid. Dad was Airforce. Most of my extended family is there. Went to sophomore highschool in Haysville.

When I visit, after a week im ready to leave. No way. Its way too bland. Get ready for alot of ugly women. Lol. And have your tornado plan in place. Been in several. Too close for comfort a couple times.

Cheap to live though. Youll be saving major cash.
Your wife is a trooper. Mine would no way make that move.

I love the Taco Shop on Harry. You will notice Midwest “mexican” food is TexMex. But I love that shit. El Mexico on Senica is bomb also. Its ground beef heaven.

No wonder you took so long to tell us😂

I figured I’d follow a Mexican around at lunch time to see where they eat and get some Al pastor street tacos with onion and cilantro. I can’t do Tex mex. Queso on everything yuck.

Clinton is terrible. I lived a mile from Clinton. Wilson is much nicer. But yes Ozark is the comparable spot.

There was a place in Kansas when I was over there last year called California taco shop and it was legitimately pretty good. Names on some of the burritos were a little different but they had carne asada and it was tasty 🤙

Congrats on the move! We did the same thing a decade ago, moving just after Christmas to Illinois.

Midwest cities tend to not be exciting, but maybe that lack is stimulation keeps everyone from becoming such assholes.

Tacos jalisco in Lawrence was legit. There is, or at least was, a really good one in Salina too. They exist. But GQ is right. Texmex is the dominate style. It took me a year to find legit Mexican food.

As for ugly women, well I lived on a major college campus. So, that wasn't really a problem. Lol. Their style is definitely different.

I get it. I’m here because of my kids. As long as I live here I don’t have to like it, just support it. Doesn’t change the stranglehold this state has on us. I can still call a spade a spade.

Support it?🤔
