I think GV has been around since the 3 speed auto days? When automatic transmissions didn't have an overdrive. Towing 12K lbs. back then was the heavy load and with what, 225hp? Now trucks are rated at 20K+ lb. trailer load and pushing 500hp. I don't think GV has really kept up with the new...
60 years ago they had USA roll marks on them and a slim profile. New Craftsman doesn't have a USA roll mark and the wrenches have a huge fat profile and don't fit in tight places.
Big thing I see with beginners is, they go to fast. Take your time and make sure the welding wire goes into the metal like a screw in wood as you move. Most people go to fast and the weld just sits on top of the metal, like painting a wall, doesn't do much.
If you don't mind spending the money get a Snap-on box and tool combo set. You can buy them separately. Pick the box that works for you and pick the tool set that has what you're after. Whatever you get, make sure it has a USA roll mark.

Dont add AFT to your fuel as it may cause issues with the DPF. Back in the day it was the cool thing to put AFT in your fuel tank on your 12 valve. Now a days the cool Cummings thing to do is install 14" wide wheels and drive with the tow mirrors flipped up but not towing a trailer.
