If I was a LIBTARD politician I would be scared to death about the mistakes that have been made in the last decade in California and now this catastrophe. After the New York murder of the CEO. Might be a few hundred out there looking for some revenge. I sure hope not! But man..........

As boaters we know water Management is a problem in California. The population has doubled the number of reservoirs has not in 40 years.

Add to that mess the tree huggers saying nothing can be done in this location or that location because of a three-legged toad or a fish no ones ever heard of...

I think Pacific Palisades just paid that price.

Malibu is right behind, I just read about they're getting rid of a dam on some stream because they don't need it.

If it retains water, we need it.

I'm not sure this is the time for politics but once they get a handle on this some hard questions are going to need answered.
DEI policies have no place where lives are concerned, I sure hope this stupid social experiment has run its course.
I normaly try and stay out of the DEI debates as public has sort of weighed in on it....but watching the leaders of all these critical departments I question the hires...regardless of the gender, race, preference ect... They literally seem like people that may test well or book smart but did not grow up as experts in the field, have not been in the trenches, are not subject matter experts, and don't convery a lot of confidence in what they are sharing...

Watching the videos of the burned homes. It seems that we should be building homes made of chimneys.

I know building codes have changed a lot over the years, especially in high fire risk areas like these. The homes that will be built on these lots will likely have a drastically different look to them.

This clip is pretty self evident: https://x.com/i/status/1877114190055293252

No eaves, no wood, no shingles.
Great opportunity to bring affordable section 8 apartments to palisades/malibu. Equal opportunity for all!

An emergency genny doesn't need to power the whole home. If some forethought was used....all the 120V essentials should be put on 1 buss. Fridge/microwave/a few lights, a few outlets. That's what you NEED. Then a little 3500W genny can tie into that one buss and run everything just fine. Get cold?...turn a few lights off and plug in a small electric heater in the room, or get a jacket.

I have my deal set up like this and it works fine...the few times I've had to do it.
I have had power go out for a while when i lived in fullerton.Luckily then i had a few extension cords and did the basics fridge a tv and wifi LOL. was getting ready to do lights but power came back on.

Here in peoria we had it go down for a couple hours in daytime summer.I got the eu3000 out ran a cord into house for fridge and freezer.then got my patio tv plugged in went into the hot tub grabbed a beer and waited it out.

unfortunately the majority of ca that voted for these leaders will not do a thing but vote for them again,Look at newsom he can run for another office and probably win it easy.

Their voters do not care as long as there is D in front of them on the ballot.

For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion.
That's $3,561,643 per day on an annual basis. The January 2024 homeless count in LA County identified 45,252 such individuals. The $1.3 billion equals $28,321 per person annually, or $2,360 per month.

You are right to question it all.
DEI is in insudious "suck" on the core knowledge base of any and all governemt and private entities, and we have started to see the truth of that fact.
These people did NOT come up through the normal rank and file, where the basic skills are learned and refined that make them talented. They did not rise through a merit based system.
They rose because requirements were manipulated, testing was weighted, and irrelevant BS was given a priority over knowing how to actually do the job.
Here is the problem....it isn't just the top of the leadership chain that is screwed up, the down chain where they have loaded others like them into the second in command staffing level...so all the brains in the chain that knew how to lead, knew where the mission critical stuff was...that "chain" if you will...has been broken.
I give you the police chiel in New Orleans that did not know of the barricates they had. IF that cheif had come up through the ranks, been a street cop, then a sgt, then a Lt leading a unit, she would have made it her business to know....failure. Failure at all points.
Fixing it is gonna take time, is gonna require commitment, and is going to cost us all a ton of money.
Only thing we can do is vote out the whole lot, and SoCal is really going to have to wake up and do the needful, or this will just conintue.
California in general may be getting a real wake up call.
We can hope...people are going to have to start voting with their brains and not because some loser told them what frieebies they can have.

One acre-foot of water = 325,851 gallons

One acre-foot is enough water to meet the needs of 11.6 people for a year, based on the statewide average water use of 77 gallons per person per day.

Since Oct. 1, 2023...
21,852,800 acre-feet of fresh water has been allowed to freeflow into the Pacific Ocean. This is equal to 7,120,756,732,800 (7.1 trillion) gallons. This is exponentially greater than what is needed to prevent saltwater intrusion into the Delta.

Great little generator, quiet, and decent on fuel. It's my go to when the powers out.

They were fine until the shit hit the fan, I don't see a true leader in the bunch.

Columbia River dumps 265,000 cubic feet of fresh water into the big blue every second, 24/7 365 days a year. Let that sink in.

Amen, had a few Captains come into the fishing industry from maritime schools, they get routed out fast. I believe it was Santa Monica that was bucking the state government stance on things and was voting republican, I imagine they will have some choice words after this.

Burning out the rich
I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm just saying if you are a nefarious organization that wanted to inflict pain on the American people, this is probably the easiest way to do so much damage with such little effort. Its truly frightening if you think about it.

I saw a reel on FirePhotoGirl's IG page last night of some little shit head lighting a fire somewhere in Colton. It was a very odd video, I suspect it was something she re-shared that she saw, or someone sent it to her to share. I can't imagine how sick in the head you have to be to be an arsonist.

It’s hard to catch it for a moment with the news jumping around all day but it looks like my home on Las Flores in Malibu has burned. Neighbor confirmed that Most of the neighborhood has leveled.
I appreciate all the good info posted here by the locals, I appreciate it.

Not sure what the next plan was but we are paid up on fire insurance and all the cars were separately insured.

I’ve been living in AZ for a long time. It may not make sense to rebuild. I’m curious as to how this all plays out. I think a lot more could have been done without this turning political.

living in So Cal my whole life, and my line of work says we usually have fires in high wind areas usually from downed lines. ( not always, but a high number)

Fires in these areas seem strange, also Power was on at one house, while the house next door was an inferno

A neighbor 2 houses away had their yard catch on fire from an arced out SCE overhead line August 2023. It was on a Sunday afternoon and I was 2nd on the property after hearing the screaming. After everything settled down and FD left after extingishing the fire which had grown to about a 75' radius and into one pecan tree, I was talking with the girl that lived there and she said she walked out of her front door with her dog, the line popped right in front of her eyes and she watched the hot steel and sparks fall to the brush below and start the fire. Their property was a MESS. Absolute tinder box along with piles of old tires and drums of oil/fuel. If that event had happened at any other time, we could have lost the neighborhood without a doubt.

I understand now that accidents DO happen, saw it with my own eyes. What is happening in LA County doesn't seem like a string of accidents though.

Not really, it has to do with apparatus staffing, hydrant location and spacing and average water pressure, now I know without water there is no pressure but that's not part of it.
really???? last ISO I went through counted about 30& of the total on the water system

It was a discussion in one of my classes and the points I made are the one's that stick out most in my head. Empty tanks aren't the make or break, that would be a smaller part of the equation

In 40 years things have changed on how the grid is managed, more sensitive equipment to detect faults faster, covered conductors, remote field equipment for high fire areas, along with the dreaded Power shut off programs that everyone loves.

With all of that said, Electricity is still something to be respected.
