Not sure if you're talking about Palisades or YL. But both lost water at the hydrants.

The tank built in Hidden Hills is metal and not open on top. So 99% sure it's not for helicopters.
Sorry. The tank I was referring to isn’t for the HH area. It’s a smaller tank up in the hills where they can fill it with water during a fire so a helicopter can fill its tanks. I think it hold about 3500 gallons. ?

Watching the videos of the burned homes. It seems that we should be building homes made of chimneys.

I know building codes have changed a lot over the years, especially in high fire risk areas like these. The homes that will be built on these lots will likely have a drastically different look to them.

This clip is pretty self evident: https://x.com/i/status/1877114190055293252

No eaves, no wood, no shingles.

I have said for years that my dream home would be concrete and steel.

Even if your ins (assuming you have) tells you to go stay in a hotel many hotels will be full.
During the Yorba Linda fire all the hotels were full. Not only for the evacuees, but also for all the firefighters that were here from out of state. The home rental prices were thru the roof while their homes were being rebuilt if you could find one.

When Paradise burned, you couldn't get a hotel room or rent ANYTHING in Chico area. There was no place for people to go for the short term until their home was rebuilt. Rent was through the roof.

Instead of mandating lawnmowers and cooking stoves, they should encourage (not mandate, but tax credits or homeowner's discounts) metal roof and fire retardant building material.

Our home has a metal roof, concrete siding, sealed eaves, and trex decking. No shrubs next to the house and no curtains. Insurance doesn't care. It's rated the same as a wood-sided home with asphalt shingles, dried-out cedar deck, and evergreen shrubs next to it.

Just got the 10th post on ring

My son, his wife and baby are coming over to our house tonight because they haven’t had power since midnight. They’re off first and L.A.

You guys have power?

Why didn't he do this last night? The LA County Chief was literally BEGGING for help last night. Now, it will take time to mobilize. They could have been on the ground today helping. He is such an incompetent imbecile.
He should have done it at the news conference yesterday

I had to turn off my notifications. I couldn't handle every Karen saying their power was out. Just one after another with the same F-n post.
I've been trying to figure out how to do that

I dislike politics, but the LA major needs to go.

For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion.

Mayor Karen Bass slashed the Los Angeles Fire Department budget by more than $17 million last year. She originally proposed cutting it by $23 million. An analysis by LA's city comptroller last year found that roughly half the budget for homelessness went unspent.

My Sons, Brother and Sis in law, most likely will lose their home... they live in the Village location.... Pacific Palisades

they are safe, but will lose everything....

Hopefully their valuable paperwork was grabbed... View attachment 1467139

their door camera recent pic

update:

from my Daughter in law (talking about her Sis and BIL

"""I just can't believe it. I don't see how their house can survive. And if it does what will they even be going back to? They didn't even have time to grab anything. They were really lucky they were able to get back into the area (they were in Santa Monica) to get Bash and Ramsey and then get back out safely. Especially with all of the hundreds of cars that were abandoned on the streets. I can't even imagine what that would look like in real life"""

😢 to “ Quick update. Catherine and Daniel are staying with us right now. They got a video of their street and their house is gone. 😔  ”

Thoughts and Prayers to everyone affected....

RIP to all lives lost..

If we're talking about the same one, it is 100% for helicopters. Known as a heli-hydrant.

Just heard on the news that the U.S. Navy is sending helicopters with water buckets in to help with the fires.
I’m surprised the Cal Guard C-130 MAFFS out of Pt Mugu aren’t flying

I'm not sure this is the time for politics but once they get a handle on this some hard questions are going to need answered.
DEI policies have no place where lives are concerned, I sure hope this stupid social experiment has run its course.
