Can you screenshot a few of your favorite tunes to showcase your systems? Access to your playlist requires an Amazon HD subscription, and I ditched mine a few months back.

I found a cool SVS tool https://www.svsound.com/pages/merlin . I have my new to me Mirage MS-12 set at 60hz for my Event 20/20 monitors (per the tool) and I'm trying to dial it in from there. My preamp has a tone/loudness control which I set to 0 and preamp bass level is flat/neutral. I'm making adjustments via my 80's era Numark EQ and also using defeat to see what raw sounds like.

I'm using Tidal/Master streaming at 48 bits. I haven't began to play around with vinyl, yet.

Sure thing.
This is my general demo list, it’s an eclectic mix of music, nothing really explicit or overtly offensive.

This is my Tidal playlist for demos. I’m still playing with it, but the songs are a bit more toward what I like, and some of it might be offensive to some.

I want to hear more about @clarence 's favorite stuff!

Lucky enough to have lived where lots of interesting bands were from or toured.

London mid-80s (The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Cult, Sigue Sigue Sputnik).

Minneapolis late-80s (Replacements, Husker Du, Suburbs). Lots of friends in bands (Ed Ackerson). Followed some of them around when they toured. Lived at the CC Club, First Avenue, The Uptown Bar.

LA (Medicine, The Muffs) and SF (The Rosemarys) early-90s, visited Seattle often (Sleater-Kinney, Velocity Girl, The Gits).

Austin during the late-90s (Sixteen Deluxe, And You'll Know Us By The Trail Of Dead).

Probably saw 2,000 shows over these 15 years? Was going out most nights every week for years.

And now back in Austin again (Blushing, Jane Leo).

The other thing about the 80s: lots of interesting things were going on in art forms other than music.

Cyberpunk in literature (Neuromancer) and film (Bladerunner), comics (Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns) and animation (Aeon Flux, Akira) became interesting, etc.

Kids always believe they've invented things they've only discovered, but this actually was a new sensibility.

… a great tune from an album called fast, Fontaine… If it wasn’t for innerband friction… this album stood a good chance of being very successful… It was produced by Paul Rothchild, who produced all of the Doors albums… Paul’s son Dan played bass on the album… the keyboard player got caught fooling around with Fontaine‘s girlfriend, and the band was no more…whoops???
…Fontaine who gave Bob Seegar his start is either 81 or 82 now…and they say he’s still got it👍

Thanks for the playlists bud, that was fun.

Back in the day I could bounce a glass of water off the CV speaker with the Onkyo playing Going Back to Cali, or Lil' Devil. I'm still using my original Onkyo amp (plus I added another identical model).

It's sounding pretty good right now, I finally found the lower end I was missing with the 8" monitors. 60hz it is.

I'm embarrassed to admit I always get The Muffs confused with Martha and The Muffins...

I have Sigue Sigue Sputnik on my next vinyl order! We used to spin that one, too.

I'll probably get Transvision Vamp too. Hubba hubba, what a cutie!

Another great 80's song was from squeaky voiced/Aussie soap star Clare, seen here a few years later. Sounds like her backing band got the gig the night before the performance :D

I'm sure none of you guys listen to this one, but I do!

I recently scored a mint copy of the 12" vinyl, which is a somewhat rare release. The 12" was the first record we bought as party DJ's. I remember it got fucced up and we had to buy a replacement copy, and I argued with the rest of the crew that the "new" records was different. I didn't know what it was at the time, but I knew it wasn't the same record (see below).

The song was originally released on a small independent label under the group name of X-Posed, and this song picked up major traction in the Miami clubs. But apparently the original lineup was not polished enough (think Miami in 84'). I think it was Arista who came in and did some fuckery and stole their music, changed the group's name to Expose and got rid oif the original 3 chicks. Sad story.

Funny, I can't think of one without the other.

Did once name a pair of kittens Tony and Wendy.

So I've been wrenching on the system, flipping thru Rolling Stone: Best Songs of All Time, and I came across a fav, Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side.

I always suspected the vibration you hear from the bass - is in fact a string vibration/twang, as opposed to your woofers being blown out. I'm sure we can all relate to that, too.

Anyways, a quick looksy and yup, a standup "double bass" was used on the song. So what we are hearing is the vibration of the bass strings. Kinda like when you play around on an acoustic with super loose strings. Now we know!

Let's hear about yours (and everyone else's).

How'd you get into it, etc.
I'm just your standard issue 53 yr old, born and raised in Southern California.

I lived 3 doors down (in HB) from my cousins who formed the band The Crowd so I was exposed to Punk Rock when I was super young. Unfortunately my family moved to Norco and I missed out on all that. But at the core it is the local Southern California sound that works for me. Vandals, Agent Orange, Foo Fighters, Etc....
