Love this one. Love Godsmack.
Can you imagine the joy these kids must have had being mentored by a local rock band. 🤘

So I grew up on oldschool country. Always like this one, a cool little full-circle country story

Sad story with this guy, he was on the cusp of becoming the next Randy Travis, but died of alcohol poisoning at age 34. Great song.

Burt Bacharach died last week. Literally, he literally made Dionne Warwick famous since he penned all her biggest hits.

He also had a few others I've always enjoyed...

And this monster from the Carpenters.

Did anybody else see Bonnie Raitt take home the Grammy for song of the year? She too was like ...wait, huh?

Her best work/performance ever, was singing John Prine's Angel from Montgomery. A songwriters song.

Recently got this piece of vinyl...diggin it.

Pops used to tell me Rick Nielsen patterned his look after Huntz Hall of the Dead End Kids movies. Back then though, it wasn't like I could Google Huntz Hall out to see what he looked like.

But, yup :)

Love Corey Taylor. Pretty sure this was his anti record label video.

So for the past several days I have scoured Discogs, the Internet, and YT looking for a copy of She Sells Sanctuary that we used to spin at parties circa 1985/1986.

I still remember the 12" single had a black label with "The Cult" and just the bird wings and "She sells sanctuary" on it.

More importantly, the 12" had a double guitar intro, which gave a DJ time to use the intro to fade the record into a mix.

Thus far, I have not found a copy. They all feature that gay ass "howling" intro....I guess Astbury thought he was an Injun' medicine man lol

But here is how the song was played, double intro and all.

The hunt continues...

That might be from The Cult "Live" album....I remember it. From the "Love" time. Love me some Cult. Billy Duffy had that extended intro in the beginning if I remember right. I'm sure I have it around somewhere. Lol

So effen' pumped. Siouxsie has not played in the US in 15-years, and I'm pretty sure the last time she played as Siouxsie and the Banshees was close to 30-years ago.

In the 80's, tunes like this splashed every month. We thought it would last forever.

We had everything...New Wave, Punk, Funk/Freestyle, Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Big Hair bands and Pop like Madonna, Michael Jackson, the GoGo's.

One big drunken cesspool of awesomeness. Then poof, it was gone.

I understand the music of our youth resonates (neural nostalgia), but objectively, the 80s were an amazing time.

Interesting you (seemingly) liked it all.

It was far more political for us - if you liked alternative music, you couldn't like anything pop. And there were always near fights at parties with the rock/metal guys. Really defined who you were.

Like the fights at the Cuckoos Nest? My punk BIL literally lived down the street from that joint and he liked to fight and has endless stories about crackin' rocker skulls.

Me - I'm just a simpleton and don't get stuck on political ideologies tied to music. I applaud (mostly) anybody who can write a song or compose music. And I think many, many, peeps had enormous huevos to stick with it as a profession. I appreciate and respect them, and their craft.

As I get older, I enjoy music more. In the 90's I took part in thousands of bank foreclosure evictions. I discovered two common traits amongst the poor/low income evicted occupants. A) they were into sex, B) they were into music. I reason because both A and B were free! Maybe it's the white trash in me. :D🤟

Rock on...

No, more just tribal.

The clubs, houses, college radio stations, cities, zines, etc.

Shared something with everyone else in the scene.

Almost all my friends and most girlfriends were part of that until I moved overseas.

Had a Cheap Trick vinyl in JR high school. Think it was live at Budokan. They were a main stay of mine for a bit then. 🤘

Foreigner was meh for me. They were all right. A bit floofy for me I guess.
I think that’s about when I was getting into Def Leppard.

Styx period for sure, that's why I thought you may be into them. I was surprised at the number of songs I recognized.
