I have had Hodinkee for the last few years. About 1.3% for me. I like the policy because there is a clause for losing your watch. For example, if the band breaks while skiing, i'm insured. Pretty confident that will only work once, but for a 10k + watch, I think its worth it. Some friends of mine lost a major collection in the Altadena fire-200k range. Thought homeowners would cover it. Nope. I don't mind the cost vs the lack of stress of owning nice watches. Also super easy to set up, details including serial numbers, some photos, general info. Probably less than an hour to finish.

Thank you very much for this, I think I am going to press down this route, hey, the premium should be a bit less now with those 2 pieces no longer needing coverage Man, I have never been divorced, or married, so I just gotta chalk it up to losses I did not incur in other parts of life.

Well, my bonus hits at the end of this month, i was hoping to buy a reverso duoface, but I guess I will be re-purchasing one of the stolen watches, Moonwatch or the Constellation, man this is an annoying decision. Speedmaster is where my heart is, but I have a wedding coming up and not having my dress watch is really making me mad. I "need" both of them Everyone get their insurance sorted out, don't be like me, this is a sickening feeling. I would almost rather not replace them at all at times, but them missing from my collection is a reminder of my failure, ugh, dunno which approach will set my mind at ease moving forward.

I would love the silver snoopy myself, but alas, Rolex games and waitlist shenanigans. I wish AD's got them as well as boutiques, i certainly would have the purchase history with my AD 5 watches later.

I’ve always been attracted to the Squale 20 atmos watches, and I grabbed a couple. The root beer bezel one is just gorgeous in person, and the pics don’t do it justice. I think it’s going to get the most love out of my collection so far. The blue dial is great but I don’t like how small the indices are compared to the dial.

I like Squale myself, I love their history. I struggle finding the right watch though, big wrists so I want 42mm or as close as I can get, but I can't handle a crown at 4 o'clock, it seems that I either need to go smaller, or get the crown in a different spot. I definitely like my Hamilton for still a swiss watch, but not the worry of expense or cost of replacement.

For me it’s always been about the submariner style watches. It’s the style I’ve always gravitated towards, and ownership was a goal I wanted to achieve when I felt I’d earned enough in life to get one.

I have a Steinhart diver watch as well, which I bought YEARS before my first Rolex, but I typically try to get the homage watches in colors that I won’t get on a Rolex.

It’s not so much a matter of *wanting* to wear an homage watch over a Rolex (and don’t get me wrong, Sqaule and Steinhart make incredible watches), but it’s the difference in wearing a $500 watch vs a $15,000 watch (or more in the case of what’s on my wrist now) for day to day life, as I’m often clumsy and I don’t want to completely destroy something I’ve invested so much into. I wear them plenty, but I usually let the situation dictate it.

Squale has plenty of their own clout, they used to build the cases for Panerai, Blancpain (grand daddy of the dive style watch with Rolex copied, like every other watch maker), and pretty much anyone that was making a professional dive watch. Rolex is of course king when it comes to brand recognition, and the Submariner is the most recognizable watch in the world, but the design language is shared across almost all brands.

If I owned a normal black sub, I definitely would not get a black dial squale, but I would get the blue color which is their trademark look. The below squale is an icon in itself, and you can have that along side the icon that is the black submariner.

On the same note, if you like orange, you gotta get the icon of orange from Doxa, or Bulova, I prefer their shade of orange.

I guess its like if you are going to have a Ferrari and a Lamborghini, get the ferrari in red, and get the Lambo in green or whatever crazy color you like, not the other way around.

I need one more to complete my Rolex dreams. Have the sub, GMT, the Daytona, and I’d like a Datejust if I can decide between green or Dodger blue dials.

I’ll just be over here with the stainless peasants.

The newer omega boxes for moonwatch and matte finish for standard watches loses some of that, but it does come with a travel case hidden under it all. I like it on the strap, but I totally would be rocking the black NASA strap on that bad boy.

Mine is the 126500 reference.. I liked the stainless ring around the outside of the bezel more so than the 116500, but I like the way the sub-dials look better on the 116 version. Oh well

Yep! That exact watch… I can’t tell if they changed the blue or not. The mint green dial is gorgeous too but it’s super in demand right now. I’m leaning blue but ask me again tomorrow

I’m working for the next few days at Road Atlanta for the Lexus Performance Driving School…pretty cool hanging with past and present pro drivers like Townsend Bell, Roberto Guerrero and Scott Pruett.

Pruett is a Rolex Brand Ambassdor so naturally had to get a pic with his steel Daytona. He’s been given so may Rolexes in his career, he’s lost count but thinks he has around 17

yep, that's how I roll, well, before the theft at least. I don't think I will let it stop me, but maybe I will limit my "premium" watch to only be on my wrist, and the affordable ones in the watch roll. That reminds me, gotta re-purchase my travel watch box as well, my three watch roll is too bulky for international travel.

I've been liking nato straps a lot lately. However, I really only like a few steel bracelets, Breitling being my favorite. Most of my watches are on leather or rubber.

Bond Nato for the win. This is where i first fell in love with the look of the watch, I wear it on my Speedy as well...... (grumble) I used to wear it on my Speedy as well. I would also like the black and red in this pattern to highlight the seconds hat. That AT "golf" with the neon green hand on the black dial with the bright nato is a homerun as well. Summer watches are cool. I am not the biggest dive watch fan, but something like a Squale, in the price range, that lives primarily on the nato, is in my future. I enjoy this Seamaster Professional and my Tudor too much on their bracelets to keep them on strap rotation. Artem sail cloth straps and factory rubber, I am a fan of as well.
