Are any of you guys into micro brands? Brands that only produce a small amount and dont have big marketing budgets.

I bought a bronze case Lum-Tec several years ago, kinda got into micro brands because of them. Well, I was on Insta last night and went down a very deep rabbit hole. There are a lot of really cool micro brands. My "list" on Chrono 24 just grew by about 15 watches. I had to fuckin stop. lol.

What micro brands, if any, are you guys into?

There’s a specific Lum Tec made from tungsten carbide that I’d love to pickup…they made it like a decade ago and they seldom pop-up on the used market

A lot of work went into becoming one of the (if not the) most reputable brands in the world.

That brand ranking gives them options.

You don't let that slip.
💯
The strength of the brand allows the price premium we pay.
I put an Oris on my list. Not a micro brand, I never cared for Oris until I came across the Big Crown Pointer Date.

Good brand IMHO

My first adult watch was an Oris TT1. Pretty sure I still have it laying around somewhere.

I just got my Titan47 back from service. She’s chunky 😊

Off to my sales conference in The Hague, Netherlands. Worldtimer for the travel and blue blazer, Speedy for the casual nights, and the lucky Constellation for black suit and awards night. All but one of the Omegas going this trip.

Wow, the watch case is next level. Never seen one before. Now I have to have one. My junk gets transported in this Crown Royal sack. Time for an upgrade.

RDP- where the ballers keep their Hublots in a Crown Royal bag. I’ll go be poor somewhere else, lol.

On another note, my daily beater is an Oris Aquis on a rubber strap. I beat the piss out of it and it has been a great watch. My other daily is a Breitling Superocean Heritage, also a nice watch and the mesh gets a lot of complements.

The Crown Royal sack, the equivalent of a boat trailer with “only” 2 axles, on RDP😁

I would look on Chrono24 or Bezel. With a Rolex, I would opt to get it certified as part of the purchase. Bezel includes it, and Chrono24 has it as an option. Way too many fake Rolex watches out there. No way I'd buy a Rolex on facebook, unless you meet them at a watch shop/jewelry shop to get it checked.

Crazy Rolex Fake info, I just saw a internet article showing that even some new Rolex watches with papers, tags, boxes have had some internal fraudulent parts. One of the big watch guys on the net had two and opened them up with one of them having fake internals, just amazing. He said the $$$$ scams are everywhere. I would only buy from a reputable AD or very reputable second hand dealer and have them open it up and do a detailed inspection.

Check out Happy Jewelers and mention RDP to Gabe or his Brother. They had a lot of used Rolex last time I was there.

That's great! I have a quartz Ebel Discovery that I inherited from an uncle back in the late 80's. I haven't worn it in years because it's a 34mm (I think) and seems small compared to most watches today, but it has a lot of sentimental value.

I’d like to know more. Never seen a Rolex sub with a white face. Is “face” the same as a dial?
There ya go the blue is the first one I bought in Miami in 1982 I gave that one to my cousin for a birthday several years ago
My new one is a 24 The white face I made a good amount with resale

not deep into the watch game besides the usual knowledge stuff and some social media videos of those crazy new york peeps.

But i do know my dad has a crazy obsession with Invicta watches probably been buying himself them for over 10 years. Typically the special edition ones.
Ill have to snag a picture of his cases next time i am over there I would say over 50 watches!

Do we have the same dad? 😅 My goal is to buy him a rolex because he never will spend like that on himself. I am however fighting the urge to buy him a seiko hulk for his birthday tomorrow.

Anyone have one of those on here?

Haha for real! I feel like he could have at least 1 or 2 nice timeless watches by now but loves his Invictas says they are conversation pieces because of how large and vibrant they are. He travels weekly meeting people all the time so who knows.
I am sure one day ill have 100 of them dropped off to me ha

That white serti dial is slick. I am a big fan of the two tones. I like to wear gold but a solid gold is a little over the top as a daily.

Swung by my buddies shop to BS yesterday and see if he has a line on a Chopard happy sport for the wife. Checked out what he has in stock. Can’t believe how much prices have gone up on Rolexes.

Ceramic face sub is 14k! DeepSea is 12 I think he said. Other two subs are older versions 8500ish each. Black
Face explorer 2 is 8. I kinda dig the chocolate bezel Tudor

Some
Nice stuff gbiugh

Well, as usual USPS sucks. Took almost two weeks when it should have been maybe three days. Here it is. Big Crown Pointer Date

Congrats, my favorite Oris is the big pointer date. Funnily, I am preferring it on strap instead of bracelet, it really can do both, like some of the Hamilton field watches.

Watches make me a bit sick to my stomach right now, I had my bag stolen on my recent trip to Amsterdam, and amongst many other painful things, I am out two of my Omegas, the Moonwatch and my Constellation. I love them and need to replace them, but don't want to be hasty funds wise. Also, upsettingly, my couple of hours a day of watch content online and youtube is no longer my little departure, just kicks up the bad emotions. Oh well, make more money buy more stuff, and hopefully get my insurance sorted out so I don't have to feel this way in the future. Was in the process of figuring out who best to use and getting appraisals for one of the companies, and this happens.

That’s awful. Sorry to hear.

I have all of mine listed on my homeowners. Anything over 5k needs a professional appraisal. The rates are pretty dirt cheap for each item listed.

Yeah, my homeowners policy isn't letting me add in the traditional fashion, and my insurance agent is being less than helpful. Exploring other options and even Hodinkee's own, seems like 1.5% to 2.5% of value per annum seems to be the going rate, appreciate any advice from others on what they have set up.

I have had Hodinkee for the last few years. About 1.3% for me. I like the policy because there is a clause for losing your watch. For example, if the band breaks while skiing, i'm insured. Pretty confident that will only work once, but for a 10k + watch, I think its worth it. Some friends of mine lost a major collection in the Altadena fire-200k range. Thought homeowners would cover it. Nope. I don't mind the cost vs the lack of stress of owning nice watches. Also super easy to set up, details including serial numbers, some photos, general info. Probably less than an hour to finish.
