...Hmmm?... ...Maybe I'd better do a little explaining about the pics of the Customs... ...This particular sequence is of the very famous Rod And Custom Dream Truck and the work done on it by Valley Custom... ...I'm not 100% sure but many of these photos may have never been seen before... ...The lineage of Valley Custom goes like this... ...Neil Emory and Clayton Jensen started the shop in the late 40's... ...Clayton was Neils wifes brother and uncle to my high school friend, Neils son, Gary Emory... ...Gary Emory invented the Baja Bug and is the owner of Porsche Parts Obsolete... ...His son Rod is Emory Motor Sports,... ...They restore historic Porsche race cars and build one off Porsches... ...They quailified a very underfunded Porsche on the pole of the 24 hours of Daytona a few years ago and had it not been for a couple of broken halfshafts could have easily won the race...
...Gary was in town a couple of days ago and we went crusing the old hood... ...He told me that they had found boxes of pics of Valley Custom from the day and that Rod was in the process of posting them to his facebook page... ...All I know is that some of these pics were not of his facebook page yesterday,...so he may be uploading them as we speak... ...Oh yeah,...there is a 4th generation Emory,...Zayne Emory... ...At 14 he isn't building any cars but his has signed on with the Walt Disney Studios for his acting abilities...

...In 1960,...Gary Emory and I were in the same car club,...The Pagans... ...It took some begging but I finally got him to take me over to his dads shop... ...Of course my timing couldn't have been worse as there were no projects happening... ...But I bet I saw remnants of a bunch of these cars scatterd about???..

...Im pretty sure that this is the car that started it all for Neil Emory... ...While attending Burbank High School Neil made money by hanging out in Warner Brothers parking lot and detailing cars for the big whigs... ...Some how Neil was able to buy this Dodge convert from one of his customers... ...Then the personalisation process began... ...A couple of months ago Gary was in town and drove up to Oxnard to look at possible doner,so he could recreate his fathers car... ...No luck the possible doner was to far gone...

Thanks for your contribution

...You are very welcome... ...And the utmost of thanks to the 4 generations of the Emory family... ...Here is 14 year old actor Zane Emory... ...With his blood lines somewhere, sometime he's got to crank out a car or two???... ...I'd say remember that face except it might throw a screwdriver into the spokes of progress???...

...Ok...here you go... ...Communitys dad put this boat together in '74... ...And the whole time I've had it I assumed the original scoop cover was put on by his dad... ...Well now I'm getting stories of burning rags flying out of the scoop...lol...and as far as I know it is the original scoop... ...What I thought was the scoop cover from the original construction now lives in the bushes by the side of the Hollywood Freeway...:rolleyes

...Well I was getting around to Don... ...Give me a minute now...lol... ...OK...Don was a year behind me in High school and was only there for max,...a year... ...He got into our Pagan car club but seldom came to the functions... ...I would ask Gary,...where's Don???... ...Gary would say he's painting a car... ...Now I was somewhat suspect as most 15 year olds don't paint cars???... ...As it turns out Don has been painting since he was 13 or14... ...Neil Emory moved the family to Costa Mesa right around '61,...and took over the Paint and body shop at Chick Iverson Porsche In Newport Beach... ...Gary worked the parts department and at some point Don took over the painting... ...The last time I saw Don was about 1965 when I went to Newport to see Gary at the dealership... ...Don popped his head out the door... ...He was in the middle of painting a Porsche... ...At that time,...Gary said Don could prep and do a complete paint on a Porsche in a day... ...Better than factory...

...I'm not sure when but Don and his dad moved their families to Fallbrook and started doing their long time high end resto deal???...

...In the not to distant past,..Don lost his house and his car collection in a massive fire that went through Fallbrook... ...From what Gary tells me the house is rebuilt and Don is building up another collection litterally... ...Gary showed me a pic of a roadster than Don is currently building... ...Don has mad mad skills...

...For a couple of years Gary and I have planned on me taking a ride with him down to see Don and his new home operation... ...We'd better do it soon we're getting up there...;)

Looking at this profile of Gary, I see his son Rod.

...As I haven't see Rod since he was about 8, when they lived in Trabuco Canyon,...by looking at pictures of Rod and Gary at about the same age I would have to agree with you...

Hey Willie B don't forget Don Emory he was and is an outstanding painter and worked with his father for years.

...The red A pickup in this video is a work of Don Emory... ...Somehow this truck escaped the Fallbrook fire???... ...Don and Gary made a trade of some sort???... ...It may have been a very rough Porsche Cabrolet for the PU???... ...Anyway to the chagrin of Don,...Gary put a red oxide primed hood and possibly a '32 primered grill shell on it???... ...The Tucker and the Buick in the video,...definately Old School...

...I think this is the day we all went to lunch at The Town Cafe in Sun Valley... ...The graybeard ponytailed guy in the video,...Bart,...should do standup comedy... ...Some resturant patrons got the humor of it all and some just blankley stared... ...The ponytailed guy in the black shirt is Gary Emory...
