I miss the Father’s Day at Irvine lake! Great turnout of boats, babes, food and booze! It was great while it lasted like most So Cal venues. Good times! Happy Father’s Day to all!

That's a nice assortment of gear sets and singles. Always good to have options.....
If you could scare up a set of 10*, rt. Hand 9% I'd be much obliged. He'll, I'd even buy ya a beer or three.......
Don’t see many 9’s around.
Have you checked with Prisinski?
He’s got a pretty good stash of stuff, especially for the SE class.
Only other person I could think of is JJ Beaver, but you have already checked with them I’ll bet.
I’ll keep an eye out for a set!👍

If it’s on a road trailer, guessing that the overall width is darn close to 96” if not more, it’s not gonna fit in a car type enclosed trailer due to room needed for both width and where the boat trailer wheels would be in relation to the enclosed trailer fenders inside the trailer.
On a semi type trailer at 102 inches outside width, you’re gonna be hard pressed to get it in there. Would think there would be less than an inch each side.
I’ve sent boat on trailers on an open Big Tex 5th wheel flatbed type trailer back east and it worked well.
Other than that…lotta people on this site head for LOTO this time of year. Maybe there’s an open hitch heading that way?

I missed the races but it was good meeting you and hanging out for a few. We need more hot rods and flats down there, dont be a stranger!
Hell yeah! Great times for sure! We'll definitely be back down there a lot more, that's for sure. Awesome place to boat!

LongDeck update…
Rear steering assembly complete.
Was able to use all the OG Hallcraft steering pulleys and quadrant…yeah, yeah but new all aluminum looks better and you can anodize it!
I always try to use the OG stuff if I can especially on a classic like this boat.
I rebush and machine the assemblies and use fiber washer’s between the pulleys just like the new stuff.
Was hopin to get the stack tank back so I could start whittling on the ugly tank mounts but no luck.

One thing I always try to do is run the bottom cable that crosses the boat as close as I can to the quadrant.
It gives you a better wrap on the quadrant when it comes back. There is less than a finger width now and the cables are no where near tight.
You can’t imagine how many boats I look at and there is an inch or more at the center of the quadrant.
Also you want the cross cable dead even with the bottom groove in the quadrant and returning dead flat after it wraps the pulley.
Tried to get a square picture of it but couldn’t. Oh well, you get the idea!

Here’s a shot with the engine mock up plate.
We are planning on going with gold anodize.
With the plate in, it kinda gives us an idea…Gold was very popular in the early 70’s. Not many colors then. Think is gonna look good!

Dick VanBeenan in “Cherry Mist” flipping in San Diego in the early 70’s.
First circle boat racer to crash using a Lifeline Chute Jacket.
These were the days before Whirlaways.
Engine locked up, prop stopped spinning so the boat did.

Hard to tell if that chute helped or not. Great photo of a bad situation.

The Long Deck Motor is alive.
Timing and Idle set today.
Full Pull’s tomorrow!
I’ll be the throttle guy.
Blowers are Bitchin, but Stack Injectors are just Super Cool!
And the M/T valve covers with spacers, can’t get more nostalgia than that!

Welp. Grandpa sold his boat today. End of an era. I've had a blast in this boat since I was a kid. Bitter sweet day to say the least. Trying to talk him into getting a nice car to go bs at the coffee shop on Sundays or whatever but he ain't biting.

The new owner is an ex-boat racer and it will reside at a lake house in Lake Nacimiento. Very happy it is going to a good home.

Got finished up on the Dyno yesterday.
468, good heads, 12.25 in the hole on Alcohol…just over 700hp @ 7000.
Starts like a carburetor.
Easily push the long deck 100plus on the River.
It is a Beautiful Noise!

And the Mallory Mag.

I worked for them in the 90's
That’s cool!
I’ve run Sprint/Super Mags for years.
I am not an MSD guy for sure, seen guys at the races throw parts at their cars and boats all weekend and never make a clean run.
I use Fuel Injection Enterprises now for my Mallory stuff.
Spud Web up there in Oregon bought all of Mallory’s back stock when they sold to Holley. Good guy, great service.
On the Vertex Mags, Tom Cirrello is my guru. Never used anyone else.

Definitely not hard on the guy. It was time. I'm extremely proud of him for boating into his late 80's. I probably should have held out on buying a flatty a few years ago and just waiting and bought his. No room for two nor could I afford it, though.

You may as well keep it, not losing any value sitting in the garage right?
