How many decibels will it lower them? I've got some chrome water injected Bassetts from the Lavey I could put on...what do you recommend?
I would recommend against water injected Bassett’s.
They are a mess in terms of water in the boat.
Also potential problems with water in the cylinders.
Also, they’re not real good looking with the long collectors back far enough to clear the rear deck.
Finally according to the Marine Law expert, who used to patrol Parker after he pulled me and my son over in a 1976 Campbell with thru transom exhausts at 35mph, water is not a muffling device!
He said he should not be able to stick a broom handle up in the exhaust. There has to be some blockage to be legal.
The units we talked about will do that.

I ran water injected shorter style bassetts with cut down bassett mufflers for 15 years in my Hondo. I had JDA flappers to evacuate the water and nothing more than a bassett t-valve with a modded spring. No on off valve and no issues. Mid size solid cam bbc. I cruised all the local lakes (puddingstone, Perris, Silverwood Elsinore) Parker, Havasu channel, lake Mohave, Big River, Needles to Laughlin and not one ticket. My dad had more noise problems (from dickhead cops) with his nearly stock 460 and wet logs.

One time I was cruising between Red Rock and Roadrunner and the police boat got up next to me and took a good look at us and kept on going. Not sure what that was about but they obviously weren't dicks.

Something you don’t see often.
The bulkhead had an oversized hole cut in it. So large that the steering shaft had no where to bolt.
Heard a couple different stories as to why, including, Julian did this so the aluminum plate would make the boat more rigid…ok…and they cut it out so you could put jackets and Skiis up there(remember people used these as family ski boats back then!).
I tend to believe the latter as this boat was only rigged with 8 turn buckles(I added 2 more) and a bare minimum of rigging.
So here it is(there wasn’t one with the boat)
There is a cover that mounts over the round access hole in the middle
WZuber’s boat has the same set up.

Pops was thinking about selling his Lee Mize Hydro, looks like I will be taking ownership after many years of him not using it much. I want to repower it with my blower motor that came out of my Daytona after a re-configuration of the oil pan and removal of the chiller, remove the seating and do two buckets this winter.

Floated the Kalawain today, looks great on the water. Had several back-fires upon acceleration(see last video)...dunno if it's timing or something bigger...it was at sea level, now it's a mile high. Got to get it out with my buddy and time it under load, or get it close in the driveway...thoughts?

Tony, you don't have to credit D21 for photos. He grabs most of the photos he posts off the internet. 👍

Seriously, he never gives credit either. I never took pics or posted them for anything more than enjoyment and entertainment but when people were sending me or tagging me in my pics that he posted, it just kinda sucked. It's the Internet and I probably shouldn't have cared but........rant over, I don't post much anymore

Next up. 78 Beismeyer. Originally Chuck Latham’s boat. Then Gail Manwill raced it in SK. Went to a couple different people, but came back to the Manwill Family and now owned by Kenny, Gail’s Nephew. I did the bottom a couple years ago. Now time for paint. Colors to be Purple main, with blue and some other accents.

I probably launched my 21 Hallett Vector with a dozen different trucks from my friends. This day we launched with my buddies Supercharged Thunderchicken
I think it was a manual transmission too, but it got us on the lake. 😁 I bought the boat before I had a truck to launch with cuz most of my friends at the time had trucks.

I didn't want the standard Vector gel scheme that everyone had with the stripes going along the bottom to a point at the bow. I like this "Carrera" design better and it took a while to talk Nick into doing it for me. I have another story for another time about Nick and this boat. It was built the month or so before 21Hallett's parents took delivery of theirs. I bought it on the last day of the Pomona Boat Show in April/May of 1990. They promised me delivery by July 4th weekend. I got it first or second weekend of August 1990 and towed it straight to Havasu.

The Cav Rod running to the back of the boat runs higher than most off the floor.
On all the circle boats I always remachine the override handle to lower the unit in the boat so hopefullythe driver won’t get tangled up in it on the way out.
Naturally, 12 years ago, the boat I was testing did not have it done and I spiral fractured my femur right below the hip joint.
I was so tangled up in it that I broke the brazing around the bottom of the handle.
I won’t drive one, at speed, without this modification.

Put a little time in on the Longdeck last couple days.
Cut and fit the engine plates.
Used old school 5/16 plate to keep with the theme of OG parts.
Still have a little messaging to do but the block is sitting solid on the rails.
Looks great without the rigging bars.

Finally got the tank back from being cleaned. Welded up a sump on the old Moons. Should work great.
Machined the support bars to hold the mounts together.
