Started to rain on and off with some heavier spurts about 30 minutes ago at the river. By the looks of it we should be getting the worst of it later tonight and Sunday. Slow and steady its a nice change, crazy downpours dont bother us, it is when combined with the 50-70+mph winds that the power starts to get effected. I have to hand it to the power guys yesterday, drove on the 95 just north of Arco in MValley and a power pole was tilted towards 1/2 way down towards the street and 5-6 other poles were being pulled down with it, we lost power for a while but they had it up and running very shortly. Video was from yesterday when the rain let up across the river from us.

Thanks DB. At your advise, I just checked out Kevin Douglas Martin, the Weather Force guy. My take away - This guy is bizarre and has made lots of false claims. That's some serious RDP Inmate potential.

Hope he doesn't see these posts about him - he might have to go public! 😆

Wait. Hang on..we are close to a life threatening hurricane in North sd (my home) and south OC (jbnsocal home). If one of us doesn't make it through this eminent act of nature I cant leave it this way.
He says he isn't a nut guy, so he will probably rim a guy. I don't want to disrespect him with false statements

Actually, if you find weather interesting, which I do, he was enjoyable to watch. He obviously knows something about meteorology. His method of putting that across is a little different. His mention of Eugene, a prior system, providing the necessary upper level steering flow which brings Hilary to So Cal, is the only one I've seen. Also, his mention of Hilary's extreme Moisture Vapor Tail is unique. (I'm sure some inmates could take that last remark and really run with it). In any case, we're going to get some weather, likely pretty heaving in some areas. It's currently raining in south LHC. They claim that's residual monsoonal moisture from yesterday. Hilary's weather is yet to come. But, not to worry, our Federal Govt has it covered. The NWS has announced "Enhanced rain may cause enhanced run off".

I heard a rumor that they plan on closing McCarran Airport tomorrow, is there some kind of way to actually verify this. My SIL is in town with her friends and they got a cancelation from southwest for tomorrow.

However spirit, American, and united, said their flights for tomorrow are on time, southwest and jetblue straight up say nope!

I'm just trying to plan if I'm going to have extra people living in my house for a day or 2.

SOP for the USN. That decision is typically made by the SOPA, local USN Senior Officer Present Afloat.

I have been in the field during tornados in the Army. Just weird to me to move these huge ships for a tropical storm.

The way ABCs David Muir puts it, we’ll all be dead by Monday night anyway.

I’ll wake up and smell roses, see candles and have a tag on my toe.

Imagine being the guy making that decision for billions and billions of dollars of US Warships and making the wrong decision? Meh, they will be fine.

Yea I don’t think so.

Ha, the only bigger ass clown sensationalist is the other dickwad that sits in for him. I like the black ladies that stand in for him better. The only reason there is a white male doing the national news is because hes gay.

My hatches are battened. Took in all the patio furniture and moved it, strapped down the spa cover. I had to buy mesh tarps to protect my wife's ranunculus flower garden. Kinda silly, but whatever. I wish she paid 10% of the attention those flowers get to my wanger. LOL

I cleaned out the rain gutters and got the rain water collection tanks ready too. If there's free water I'm trying to capture some of it. I have a 1000 gallon tank in the back yard and 105 on the side yard. They pull in roof runoff.

Gonna go fill all the gas cans now. The two Hondas are gassed up already. The fuel won't go to waste. Burning Man is next week and this guy's going!

I caulked a couple spots that look suspicious around a few windows and french doors. Needed to do that anyway. I figure I rather waste a couple hours getting ready and be happy nothing happened. It could be minor, or it could be the worst storm we have had in 100 years.

Tornado is the devil incomparable to any other bad weather. No one ever plans to be in one. LOL

Born and raised in San Diego and was in basic at Fort Knox. Out in the field and the sirens start going off. I have no idea WTF is going on. They had us lay in a ditch while a tornado goes right over the top of us. All three of my stateside duty stations were in tornado country. Fuck tornados!
