Robby was going about 75 he said when he hit the big washout ditch thats on the lane he was in. He said it was a bit foggy and just hit it and it was done.

Super fun course though and once again just proved that the Pro R is THE BEST out of the box utv platform out there right now. The only UTV in the whole race that beat us was a Maverick R full race car build with PJ Jones driving. They got us by 2 min.

Im working on uploading the full race incar so ill link it when done.
Isn't PJ somewhere around 70 Years old by now

Thanks @Bpracing1127 . Appreciate the the good words.

I’ll just say NORRA made the appropriate correction.

Those Mav R’s in front of us are beasts and amazing drivers/co-drivers. We had nothing for them but it was fun as hell.

Now time to focus on the Baja 1000 next month, maybe KOH’s in January and Norra 1000 in April.

Are you doing the Baja in the Talon again?

Those Talons in race trim do very well. The Proctor Racing Talon (the 4 seater) is still one of the best looking race UTVs.

They’re fun cars. The one we race for the Janesky team at Baja has very little Honda Talon parts remaining besides some bodywork pieces like the hood and it’s heavier than stock with all the chassis and cage work. Drivetrain is all stock and ultra dependable. It’s a RaceCo built car.

When has anything Honda built, been anything but ultra dependable?

I'd be totally happy with a stock one.

Can't wait to watch you guys dominate again. 👍🏼

Ya they’re great cars. You may not get there as fast but you’ll always get there and back no problem.

You and I talked about it last year after our class win. The automatic trans hunts around quite a bit but never let us down. We had a rear hub carrier failure but that’s all aftermarket, not Honda. Everything factory Honda (motor/trans) on it was flawless.

Appreciate it. It would be cool to go back to back Baja 1000 wins. Winning one is damn near impossible let alone two. That would be another cool trophy to add.

I still haven’t hung it up lol

What is Contractor Nation?

From Larry Janesky’s (team owner) website

Please tell me they didn't actually spell "aspirated" wrong. 🤦🏼‍♂️

They did 😂

We were laughing about it at the awards ceremony. I’m not sure if it was all of them but I know two Moto class winners and some of us in the lower classes with the same mistake.

Here’s the one they had us pose with at the awards banquet. It appears this one was correct lol

Is the owner of the car the guy that tried to iron man the 1000 on a bike several years ago and did the documentary about it?

Yes that is Larry. My team mate on our own personal team is Javier, Larry’s mechanic, in those documentaries. They’re doing another Into The Dust documentary on us this year. Last year they had CBS News follow us.

We only race his car with his team during the 1000 each year.

I haven't driven one, but I have rode in it...its better than the non-live valve, but its not good if comparing to any other sport utv on the market....

Meh. How's that saying go?

Comparison is the death of joy.

So we have done around 350 miles in Baja.. just for the score keepers speed had one small electrical issue after getting drenched with salt water.. the fucker of it was I’m not a tech and with no internet I couldn’t download the manual.. I knew speed was racing on the west coast o I said fuck it and loaded it up and took it to Ensenada.

4 1/2 hrs each way.. lol. But on arrival part of their race team pulled it apart cleaned the connector in about 30 minutes and we were back on the road back.

Second turbo s blew an intake tube off the motor.. we fixed it with duct tape and a soda can.. (it is a known failure and they should be replaced with aftermarket hoses)

There’s your score card.. lol. I’m not gonna lie if we kept running hard before that can am broke I’m pretty certain something was gonna break on my shit.. lol.

I was babying the shit out of my car because I didn’t want it to break and have to post it.. 😳🤪🤪

But so far speed is the most reliable..🤪🤪 fyi I could have ran my car with the electrical
Issue it was just limiting boost.. it still woulda done everything we have done so far and well

And to reinforce what rvrrats was saying.. we have a can am x3 a brand new pro r a couple turbo s’s my speed and another four seat can am..

I was just cruising drinking beers when we went into the miles long whoop sections.. like “cruising comfortably drinking and opening beers”. No attempt to even go fast.

When I stopped because I wasn’t sure where to go.. I got out of the car, took a piss got another beer, lit a cigarette, got back in the car was buckled up and ready to go before the first car showed up..

Ssoooo.. again this wasn’t any attempt to race.. the cruising speed seems to be at least 10 mph faster than the other cars in just about any terrain.. IMO

To me, it looks like the ball joint is intact, and just the nut came off? 🤷‍♂️

That sucks. :(

Dave what was the actual electrical issue they found, and what was the fix?

The guy who blew the belt in 10 miles with a new engine. Did he have any more belt issues? If so he needs to see if the motor trans alignment is right. I have not done an alignment on a turbo S and it uses shims. Im told it’s very important to follow a bolt pattern sequence and torque on the rear cover and use an alignment bar to make sure it does not change when tightening everything down.

As far as ball joints, I made my own portable press using a modified C clamp, and a piece of tubing. I’ve never broke a ball joint, or changed one in the field, but I did use my homemade tool at home to make sure it worked and it worked like a champ! Without any other damage, I’m guessing 45 min in the field to swap it out.

I keep a socket that fits the balljoint and a small sledge hammer with me in case one decides to go. I also carry extra ball joints. On Baja trips I bring a lot more stuff for the "just in case".

I will have to add the piece of tube to the parts and the large c-clamp. Good idea.

Baja trips make for some good fixes and great adventures.
