So.... Ill take the heat for saying it but for all SxS's..... regardless of manufacturer...... you do NOT RIDE THEM. You do not go for a RIDE. You DRIVE the fuckers. You go for a Drive, cruise, run, etc. NOT a ride.

Ride would be a sitting on a seat, ala dirt bike, quad, 3-wheeler, etc. Not sitting in a seat.

Riding uses the body to manipulate the ride and comfort along with the controls. Driving relies solely on the car/truck/sxs and the driver throttle/brake/steering input for the ride.

Flame on..... But it had to said.

Never been for a boat ride eh? 🤣🤣

So we’re ready to get a sxs. Looking to spend about $45k. Would you go Troy Lee Pro R or Speed?

Not being a smart ass but it depends on how much you want to work on your car. Polaris just get the extended warranty and enjoy. Take it to local dealer for service or repair. Speed if you’re close to havasu or corona and don’t mind working on things.

Either way you can’t go wrong but. If I did it again I’d get the highest level from Kawasaki 4 seater with the fox live valve shocks over my turbo S just because it seems more dependable.

Have some friends with the Troy Lee Pro R. One of them has a turbo on it and the motor has been solid. They have not had any issues with their cars. Pro R is pretty darn reliable.

Speed jury is still out on reliability.

At 45K I would also look at the Maverick R.

What about operate? Or does that only apply to DUIs and heavy equipment?

You know the rule...

Pics or it didn't happen! 🍿🍾

My truck batteries were dead Tuesday morning.. I thought maybe I left something on.. I was drinky drinky with a buddy in the garage last night and slept in till like noon (after I took the kids to school in Stacy’s car).

By the time I got to my shop and had Jake get new batteries and my running around etc I didn’t have time to go over there today.

Plus it was raining most the day so I wouldn’t have picked it up anyway. lol. I think it’s done or close I will run it this weekend.

Until you know you’re going to use it, purchase used.
I now have 2 (1 is being picked up next week). Both are used and I have figured out how everything works, wiring etc.
Started with a 2012 XP 900 (daughters and wife) and picking up a 15 XP 1000. Lights, com, stereo, cage, doors,,etc. already installed.

if we like them enough, I will upgrade in a few years.

Moto Expo just outside of Oakland. Was best price I found on the RZR.

My buddy just dropped of his new rzr yesterday at Lonestar. Going to be one hell of a race car when finished.

Well, we got some quotes today.
The Troy Lee Pro R is $43,500 otd
The Turbo R Ultimate is $35k otd
Kind of hard to justify the extra. We’re leaning towards the Turbo R.

I would not get the Turbo R. You will wish you went with the Pro R, trust me!!!. Why dont you look at a Pro R Ultimate instead of the Troy Lee, you dont need to waste the extra on the Troy Lee to get some parts you might not even want. My .02

Turbo R is nice, but it does not have the same drive train as the Pro R. Plus the Pro R clutching = no belt issues.

Troy Lee you get bumpers, lightbar (useless over 20mph), stereo with woofer, winch, and some other stuff). Maybe look at the regular Pro R Ultimate as it will be cheaper and you may not want all the stuff that comes on the Troy Lee as @Fishd00d suggested.

Turbo R is a good car, if you go to the dunes a lot and ride with a fast group I would recommend moving up to the Pro.

At Glamis I can keep up with my group until they really start pushing hard in fully built and tuned cars- but I start to run out of suspension (dynamix car with Fox shocks) and could use a little more power.

In the desert I have never wished I had the Pro. If your group rides hard you will end up doing shock tuning on either R, so I would skip the ultimate and get a car with Walkers. If I were buying a 4 seater again today I would get the Turbo R Sport (30k-ish) and put the savings toward a cage and doors along with shock tuning and springs.

The Pro R has a more robust drivetrain and twice the charging system. I have not had any issues with belts at the stock power level on my Turbo R but I would like some clutch tuning when in the dunes. If you are going to be adding a bunch of electrical accessories like a huge stereo and heated seats, get the Pro. I run lights, pumper, and comms without issue but I’m getting close to the limit when my roof bar is on.

If you are buying a 2-seater and go to Glamis frequently, absolutely get the Pro R.

Between the new ones I’d probably do a Mav r over a pro r..

If the three there a toss up right now. I freakin love my speed.

If the Speed motor had a better track record I think it would be a toss up. Reliability is important and for that reason the Speed UTV is not in the conversation for me. Looks wise the El Diablo and Bandit are badass.

Have you driven a Maverick R or Pro R yet?

Those Walker Evans shocks are decent, but what the dynamic system does on the Pro R can not be matched even with tuned Walker Evan shocks. I have driven a few Pro R live value with springs and valving and it improves the ride even more. The Pro R is a monster in the dunes. The suspension soaks up big hits and having the "oh shit" button is really nice.

I haven't, but I want too! Most of my buddies have the 2 seat ones, and I'd rather drive the 4 seat pro r to compare.. I think it will hang in the bumps and definitely probably out accelerate it, but I don't think it stands a chance in the corners.

Do you know who did the tuning on the Dynamix cars you drove? My Turbo R bottoms violently when running hard, even with the X Button pressed. I am on the X button constantly but it’s still not enough. Not even close, and nothing that a set of springs will solve.

The group I ride with are in built X3s and last gen RZRs with tuned shocks from a variety of shops, and when we start to really push the pace my car starts to bottom out to the point that I have to back off. The shocks don’t fade, they just don’t have enough damping. I can use momentum to make up for the difference in power, but I can’t overcome the lack of suspension. I have ridden in their cars and it is night and day compared to mine.

I have heard from people I trust that the aftermarket tuning options for the 2nd gen Dynamix are all over the place and many aren’t worth a shit. I’d like to find out who’s tuning is worth using before I spend $3000+ on suspension this summer.

I will say, at normal speeds and under most conditions the Dynamix works well.

Shock Therapy did both cars and it worked really well. I have seen MTS shock work on the new Maverick R and it was beyond impressive, but not sure how they are with the Polaris Live Valve. SDG in the San Diego/El Cajon area does really good work. They tune shocks for most of the top desert trophy truck teams and a bunch of others.

The valving Shock Therapy does softens those hard edges, chatter, and cross ruts. You notice a bigger difference between the different suspension modes. It makes the car handle much better and you can carry more speed. You will find keeping up with your group will be a lot easier as you won't have to slow down for stuff you currently slow down for.

Pro R 4 seater actually gets around the corners pretty good. It for sure handles the big bumps.

Maverick R is a trip when you first start driving it. The steering is effortless and there is not feedback. The sight lines are much better than the X3 or Pro R. The suspension works really well. The car wants to be driven hard into the turns and it has tons of power. Transmission is pretty bad ass. If they can figure a way to make a 4 seat Maverick R with a 125" wheelbase it would be a killer car. I have a feeling the 4 seater is going to have a wheel base as long as the X3 4 seater.

Exactly, getting a car with Walkers and thinking youre gonna make it work decent is a HUGE stretch. Get the Live Valve shocks its TOTALLY worth it.

I would buy the Mav R (obviously since I did) but she was asking about picking between specific cars.

I haven’t driven my Mav R yet because it is being used to mock up aftermarket parts.

No doubt the Speed is the coolest looking and having all the different color choices is cool but I don’t think the Speed compared to a Pro R or even a Mav R is very reasonable since both the Mav R and the Pro R both have an incredible amount of testing done to them. The Speed is simply not a buy and ride with no issues…yet. I hope it gets there but to pretend these three are on the same page is not reasonable. The Speed needs more R&D period.

We had 3 speed cars on our 85 mile loop today and none had an issue.

Call Todd at Fun Center Cycles in Durango, CO. I drive from AZ to deal with them. (970) 259-1070. Tell him you know Joel from Havasu. He's the general manager, can connect you with his cell if they have what you want in stock at one of their 4 locations.

How many did he buy? I was looking forward to seeing how he was going to fix the overheating issue which lead me to believe that his would have a windshield.

I don’t talk to him outside of RDP. I thought it was two cars.

I’m not sure but life changes in a few years so maybe he found himself not needing his SPEED car. Hope he’s doing alright.
He always stated how the sale of his old RZR and first Speed were essentially making his second car “Free”
