They have 2 version of 2-seaters. Maybe the longer one sold better? They didn't do much marketing for that one either, they just showed the final version at SSSS.
Got it, there's 2 versions, I wasn't aware.

Are the two seaters really not that popular? I think some of the numbers I heard for the 4 seater was orders over 10,000+ and only 100 for the 2 seater? So surprised, It actually does look really good

The El Diablo is a 2 seater. I think more people that wanted a 2 seater opted for the Diablo due to the longer wheelbase and likely going to be the Speed UTV people will build into desert racecars. Not sure how many Diablos they sold.

I have a base Diablo on order at the original price, I hope they honor my deal.
Was that original price under $30k? A bit jealous if so. Still not clear to me what would be different on the base model, its just all in the accessories correct? No drivetrain or suspension differences on the base model? I do think Speed has done a great job on the accessories for the most part. Some of them are gimmicky and all are way overpriced for a DIYer like myself, but they make it really easy to kit these things out. The only disappointment my boss has with his accessories is the stereo system. I think a battery upgrade would help alleviate that so he could leave the stereo on for a while hanging out when stopped.

My price was 30k, I have added no extras, I'll piece it together with accessories after I take delivery. I want to do it myself, but I don't see me adding too much stuff.

The diablo at the onset was $28,999. Steal for sure.

A roof would be nice. Same with the storage compartments in the bed. Not necessary, but the window nets are nice, and bad ass. Front and rear bumpers look slick, unsure if those are add-ons or come with all levels. Easy to build if you can fab. Look forward to seeing more of these in the wild. I am hoping Robby comes up with a good solution to make these things more capable in the slow stuff. I know they aren't advertised as a crawler, but I think most non-racer type owners would sacrifice some top end speed for some better crawling abilities.

The Base model has different shock, at least the latest news about the base did. It doesn't have the carbon fiber seats, no roof, non beadlock wheels, and I think there were a few other differences.

I was told that the early units would have the same shocks, but the ones ordered after the announcement will have a different shock. We will see......

Same at $30k with a RG $2500 upgrade, I'm around $7500 in accessories and I'll probably add the full skid plate but on the fence with a tire mount jack and winch. 🤔
And be right at $40k

REALLY wish I could add another car onto my almost 4 year old Purchase Order. Because I’d add a bandit today and wait the 2+ years for my car I have on order to hold me over

Does anyone know how speed did at the laughlin race? I heard them from our place all weekend long, but was curious how speed did.

There are several Speed cars racing NORRA this Friday and Saturday including Max Gordon, they should be broadcasting live from his car during the race as well.....stay tuned.

We had the drivers meeting last night and Robby spoke a while. Seems there are three or four speed cars racing in our class, Pro UTV.

We are heading down tomorrow morning. I’ll try and post pics if RD’s website doesn’t keep telling me they’re to large to post lol

We thought about that when we raced the 1000 with them. I even joked to Robby I wanted to see the key 😂

He broke and we finished in front of him so there’s that lol

Boardman posted this video but I don't know the back story to it.

I thought this was one was even more interesting. This one came out a while back for those of you that have not seen it. Since then, I watched quite a few of his videos. He actually seems to be very knowledgeable as an engineer myself I find it Interesting.

The belt broke, the owner removed the clutch bolt (nut actually I think) to dig the belt shards out, and believes he did not tighten it properly. After that the bolt backed out of the clutch and it was grinding/rubbing on the cover.

Hopefully the guy did not damage the clutch or break the bolt when it backed out.

Extortion attemps?!
This is why Speed customers will not have any support from the aftermarket. Speed owners will be solely attached to Robby's ego and what he says they need for their car. He previously sued and threatened any aftermarket Co. when he debuted the Wildcat XX. Would never buy a speed period!

Extortion attemps?!

In watching that video there is a couple of issues with it..

The first being every lawyer in the world would say do not publish this.. if ya want to go head to head do it in court. At the end when he infers unethical activity by intentionally not disclosing prior art (almost impossible to prove) and gaining investment money by doing so.. that is a libel / slander suit in itself.

Patent searches are done prior to patents being granted by not only the filer themselves but the uspto.

Either way I don’t think that ends well publicly for either party. The court of public opinion is irrelevant when it comes to this sort of thing.

Being that speed just won 40 something million from article cat.. I’d wager speeds lawyers aren’t rookies.

This was gone over earlier. Justin from shock therapy is already working on aftermarket parts.

I think he is referring more to aftermarket suspension arms and components for the Wildcat XX. The only option I am aware is Speed. No other other company touched that car or attempted to make a 72" or wider kit for it.

As to the video, the guy seems to be very smart and I would hope he talked to his attorney before doing the video.

I can’t honestly think of any circumstances where An attorney would say make a video for the masses would be a good idea..

They most definitely would not recommend posting that video. Furthermore, I would assume RG has already downloaded the video for his needs because I bet dollars to donuts this video will be removed sometime in the future.

This whole cluster-fuck is such a turn off.
These UTV’s are supposed to be fun for the family and friends. At this point who wants to be any part of the drama?

I could handle the windshield/heating thing and some of the other, small fixable issues. But for me, this using the legal system by all parties involved, makes me want to rip my face off and drink poison. Run- -run away, as far and as fast as I can.

Bummer. The industry just gets better by innovation, everyone innovation.

Agree - not a recommended approach. I think the video was well made and he prepared / put a lot of time into it.

I dunno…. The UTV keyboard warriors sure do go out of their way to bash Speed and Robby Gordon.

Makes me want to get out of the UTV deal all together. It’s sad and embarrassing that so many “customers” act like that. I don’t agree with RG’s approach either. However, from afar, the car looks cool and bad ass. Can’t people just be happy a new mfg came to market?

The drama surrounding the industry and all mfg’s is childish and immature.

I am sure if he did talk to an attorney they told him not to do it or if he insisted on doing it they may have reviewed it before he posted it.

Childish and immature seems to be the "New way" unfortunately.

The patente thing has kind of gotten out of Control . One of my ancesters created the wheel so I am putting you all on notice to either send me 25k per wheel today or it will be 35k if I have to go to court . I will let you use fire for free though just because I am such a great guy !

Patents dont last forever. You get 20 years. after that time, anyone can use your ideas.
Patents are there to protect your ideas and hard work.
With out them. Anyone with deep pockets can come in use your ideas and hard work and crush your business.
