Just saw trailer with four or five speed cars heading east 91 in Riverside area. The only car number I caught was 57.

I’ve seen a lot of people complain about working on dirty cars but never seen someone get charged to have it cleaned by the dealer 🤷‍♂️

I hate working on dirty cars.....

Standard "dirty"cars you would take to a dealership would be considered clean in the off-road world. I'm sure they are sick of cars that got flogged out in the Desert for a week and dropped off with zero cleaning on the way home and are a complete mess.

Cleaned/washed I could see, detailed? That seems extreme. Maybe he’s using the wrong term. 🤷🏼‍♂️ When I call my Detailer and ask for a detail, he knows what I expect, something ready for pictures. If I say I want a wash, that’s just a wash.

That’s a great policy. I’ve seen some really dirty UTV’s dropped off at dealers, and I’ve heard some techs bitch about it too. It’s just that much harder to do a repair on a dirty car.

I agree with @Outdrive1 about Robby meaning cleaned not detailed.

The only two times I’ve taken my UTV to a dealer, it’s was fully cleaned, like pulling the skid plates and washing clean. I keep my stuff spotless and expected the dealers to do the same. Both times I was told it was the cleanest car to ever come in for warranty work.

I’m sure they aren’t going to detail the car just to work on it.. they probably just hose it off. He used the wrong terminology I’m sure.

Never understood why people bring a dirty UTV, motorcycle, or quad to a mechanic to work on. The only time I could see not cleaning it completely before bringing it in is if there is a leak and they need to see where it might be coming from.

Buddies CanAm few years ago broke while we were out. He was pissed because he just got it back from the service shop - it went straight from dirt to shop, we dropped it off on the way home.

When shop said he needed to pay for a wash, he got even more pissed. I guess the same thing broke - I had to walk around to avoid the yelling match and to this day don’t ask who won.

Is the correct channel to pass information between car owner and manufacturer on social media? That’s how teenagers handle shit, I’d expect adults to be more adult about it.

My thoughts are how much is a wash? 20 bucks? Why not just do it instead of a charge a customer who’s taking his car back to get something fixed that should have been right from the start. Guys aren’t taking them in for a service they are taking them in to have stuff fixed that should have been right off the line. So it’s a hassle a headache and now a wash charge. Just seems petty

That’s life. Pretty much every powersports dealership has that policy. No one wants to work on a muddy mess. That’s a worse outcome for all parties.

@RiverDave is losing control of this thread.......We're now bitching about car washes, and how folks interact with one of the owners of the company.
So you’re bitching about me questioning Speed owners dealing with Robby in social media in a Speed thread in social media. Got it, I will go ahead and book my sensitivity training. Sorry I broke your rules.

Take it to the other thread. It’s been said 2 dozen times.

We'll start with, not MY rules.

I'm not bitching at all, just stating that the this thread was not intended for these posts, the other one is a free for all, post away in that one.

Here is the very first post from Dave on this thread.

This thread I’m hoping will end up being a section on here because there doesn’t seem to be any real world information on the cars yet. I will say in advance I’m not interested in any bashing or stupid comments etc..

If you don’t have any real world information or ideas there’s other threads for all the small talk.

I think it becomes a bigger issue when your not set up for cleaning the units. Mud/dirt runoff needs to be cleaned up. Especially if it’s happening in a dealership parking lot.

I doubt a dusty car is the issue (maybe it is). But I can see someone pissed bringing in a muddy car and saying “you deal with it”.

I compare it to bringing in a boat with a bilge full of oil to the mechanic. That oil needs to be dealt with regardless. I don’t even drop off the boat dirty when it’s my fault for breaking it lol.

So, were you a tattletale all the way back in grade school or is this something you have taken on as an adult? 🤔😁

We are gonna try this a third time, except this time without the arguing for the sake of arguing.

Got a legit question? I will be happy to answer it from a deposit holder’s perspective..

Latest news is apparently they are dropping 12 cars and seeing how it goes. The fact that number is 12 and not 20+ is a little concerning to me as a deposit holder.. I was under the impression they were going to drop at least 20. 😳

That said LOF won’t be arguing in this thread
I might be crazy or even retarded, but I have this weird feeling a few might have this thread mistaken with the other thread. Click to expand... read and enjoy. Just saying.

This is cut and pasted from the other feel good thread. FYI

In case you are confused here is link to that thread...

(if you are keeping track this is thread number #4)

And by all accounts that thread is very positive. So if in need for a speed safe space, may I respectfully suggest cruise on over there and relax, enjoy!

Just a friendly suggestion is all.

In the last presentation video they showed off the three step hinge on the drivers door. After opening and closing one of the doors on a speed at coyne last weekend (cars looked really good in person) I’d say that I’d really won’t that feature. Anyone with a current car have that hinge on theirs? Would be nice if they had that available for upgrade.

My car does not have it, I wish it did, because the front doors want to close themselves and not stay open.

The 3 detent hinge I believe will come first on the El Diablo, and probably fazed in on all models later on. But I’d assume they have thousands of hinges to use up before they start using them on Jefe’s and Bandits.

His storage options and compartments are insane functional, and its a shame the other manf's don't do more in this area. canham has dabbled in this area, and the gayzers have a few decent trunk options, but none as snazzy as the speed.

He shows it in the first few minutes.
Watched the whole thing. Not gonna lie....a base model El Diablo would be hard to pass up at the listed price on the website, $33,500, with the performance of these cars. Doesn't look like that's' a possibility though, as they're listed as "out of stock". I think I read somewhere they don't make money on base models so they stopped selling them? Bad ass looking car and it looks like they're evolving as they go adding features and options.

Is the base or LE model suspension or drivetrain setup any different than the RG model?

All of the bandits are in. Doesn't RD have a 2-seater on order, is it a bandit?

Sounded like you could contact Speed and purchase a Bandit today and take it home once it was prepped. I am surprised they did not market the Bandit more. I think the Bandit will be fun in the dunes.

I agree, I like the bandit the best. Short wheel base, nimble, light(ish). I think original plan was to produce the bandits last. So the 4 seater would be out a year or two and be the marketing for the Bandit. But they only got 100 orders for the bandit so they decided to to make a run now. They need minimum 150 cars to make a run so with the extra 50 he is going to sell as Race versions. They will have the requirements for racing (door bars, welded roll cage, fuel cell, window nets, radios, skid plate, spare tools, bumpers, etc) already installed. You pick your class and they spec/price is accordingly. Example: Norra spec car would be $77k, Baja score legal car would be $83k. I wonder how many he will sell. Seems only worth it if you plan to actually race it.

I think he would sell those 50 a lot quicker if there was an option to take as a non-race conversion.

Are the two seaters really not that popular? I think some of the numbers I heard for the 4 seater was orders over 10,000+ and only 100 for the 2 seater? So surprised, It actually does look really good

They have 2 version of 2-seaters. Maybe the longer one sold better? They didn't do much marketing for that one either, they just showed the final version at SSSS.
