All offroad desert racing is based on time. They do not do a landrush start with everyone starting at the same time so you can not do physical position. They start one at a time every 30 seconds or 1 min apart at most races.

Almost all off-road racing is based on time.
Only landrush starts are based on position. The class 11 desert challenge at KOH is a landrush start. Some serious carnage occurred last year. It was awesome, but quick turnaround for the shootout Monday.

Speed cars are crazy fast. Just got to San Felipe. Thinking we finished in top 5 on day one. My driver was an animal. I talked all day calling out turns and hazards. My driver and I were in a great cadence the entire way. Pretty sure we’re the quickest Turbo S. Fucking beat from those whoops into San Felipe. I despise those things every time we race lol

Trust me Robby doesnt care about his class position, he will be pissed if he doesnt win the UTV overall......

I’ll give you the fact that he does talk a lot but I’ll also tell you that I’m old enough that I remember when Polaris started racing these things they didn’t get pass checkpoint number one.
He completed today’s race or stages and got 16th Pl. out of over 100 and something in a completely stock vehicle that just got off a ship from Vietnam like three weeks ago or less That’s not too shabby. Give them a couple years to work out the bugs and get things more reliable he’ll still be better then Polaris did in there first 5 years and believe me I used to watch them all break down and saw many catch on fire.

Robby is racing for the UTV Overall, just go ask him. If a Polaris or Can-Am beats him he will NOT be happy. Yes they are in a different class just like in SCORE but just ask any of the SCORE racers if they want to win their class or win the UTV Overall......i'm talking the guys there to win, not the guys there to participate. Nothing wrong with that as well just saying its a different focus and game plan.

KOH TT entries are weak because its OVERALL or nothing and there are only a few TT teams actually capable of winning an Overall lol. Thats why more people don't show up there because they realized they aren't gonna win.

And yeah, I was Very surprised when the UTV's started finishing in the top 10. Not sure how far behind they were time wise, but these races are BRUTAL. Just to finish is a major accomplishment.

For us that race for Polaris we get paid on the overall now NOT a class win. The best outcome is 1st in class and 1st overall lol. But that’s not easy these days with some great completion out here.
