He did not change a front dif. During his prep for his Baja trip, and now he’s at Sand Hallow he did replace the front slipper clutch. Thats not a front dif. This was a few weeks ago that he did that.

If he regrets the decision then why does he not get out? He can demand his deposit and accessory money back, and they have to give it to him. Or he can try to sell his spot for what he’s got into it or for a few bucks more. Seems like everyone has a buddy with a car on order, that regrets or is getting screwed over etc..

@RiverDave had the right idea...

Gotta wait until the tide turns for the cars to be in demand.

Hopefully Speed won't have another set back anytime soon, And they win a race or two.

Just have to be patient at this point.

Not to defend what Robby said about tracking down customers and cancelling their orders, but I will a little bit. During that time RG got Covid and had it really bad. Like close to be in a hospital. And during that time haters were coming out and saying really horrible things about him, saying it’s Carma that he’s sick, wishing him the worst, some wishing death or commenting on his dads death. You know Max was seeing this stuff about his dad. I think the fact he was really sick, probably bedridden and reading all these things being said about him, and then attacking the product he’s pored his life into. I think he finally had his breaking point and he lashed out.

I’ve personally seen Robby crash at nascar, get boo’d as he gets out of the car, yet he goes back to his souvenir trailer, signs autograph’s, take pictures, and he never turned a kid away. Other drivers crash and get in the plane and leave the track. I’ve watched Robby hand kids the hot wheel sized #7 nascar for free, just to see the kids smile. The guy can take the boo’s and hate, way better than 90% of the population. But everyone has there breaking point. And that evening on that IG /Facebook live show with what people were texting on the live show he had his.

I’ve met Robby more times than I can count. Know some of his long time friends. Yes Robby is a shrewd businessman. Not sure I’d want to do business with him? I think he learned that from his dad and early on making some mistakes. But I also know Robby as a person and he has been very cool and I’ve never seen this “AHole” side that so many claim to think he is. I doubt those people have actually talked or had a real conversation with him.

So what did this alledgrd text say? And why was Robby threatening legal action? What did this guy do or say to get Robby’s attention and get a text in the first place?

I don’t get it? Your “Friend” regrets ordering a car. Yet he does not want out? He’s hoping things get better and they are in demand, so he can sell it? Or does it need to be in demand to feel better and keep it?

Btw there will be more set backs. There always will be. Both Polaris & Can Am are always dealing with set backs. Polaris has set backs with the Pro R. They were over a year late to release it. They had ball joint & Shock fork issues right out the gate. Each Recall Polaris issues is a set back. Can Am was almost 2 years late getting the Mav R out, they struggled for two years getting the supply chain back running just to build the X3 and every other SXS they build. Then the Mav R was bending lower a-arms on demo rides. It’s part of building vehicles and dealing with 100’s to 1000’s of suppliers or manufacturer partners.

Remember the guy with the White one (awhile back) who was posting vids on YouTube about how many problems he had with his car?

I saw em, and they really weren't that bad

He was getting ice cream in Havasu, and my BIL asked him about car and how he liked it.

I haven't looked, but...

I'd guess those vids are gone now.

Yes you’re talking about David Hargett. He had the right to be pissed off, he had the right to share his displeasure or say that he told RG to F off and RG told him the same, then Robby told him he’s not to contact him directly any more. He can just call the sales office.

But when David starts to defame a persons character or threaten to hurt his business, then bring his son into it and tell the son what a horrible person his dad on a world wide social media platform, then promise to put his company out of business. That’s probably what got David in trouble. Btw I’m told David sent threatening texts to the other owners & employees of Speed also. I can’t confirm that as I never personally saw them. But was told he did.

Btw the whole thing started as David wanted Robby to send new parts out to the desert like he did before for David, then he wanted Speed to drive out to the desert and pick the car up for him. When Robby said no, that’s when the blow up happened.

I don’t blame David for being pissed off, I think most would be. But he took it to the next level.

Btw One of David’s more recent posts he said something about getting the car back from Speed and maybe keeping it? So who knows?

Fair enough. I never have attacked him in any of these threads other than asking who the hell was the guy claiming he would track people down.

The issues i had have never been Speed related. I hope its successful and have participated with fun jabs here and there...99% directed at an RDP member.

Its been entertainment for me.

I agree it's a excellent deal..
However watching Chupracabra's video on the issues Nick found performing maintenance @1600 miles I have to acknowledge there's still "Testing" going on, still some kinks to get worked out, heim joint issues to get sorted out. So I'm wondering if I placed an order now for a Diablo would I receive a "Gen 2" machine in 18 months(??) or whenever it arrives?

RG in the beginning of the Speed development said that all of the cars would be upgradeable so that you wouldn’t have to buy a new car every few years to get the “latest and greatest” Ike you ave t do with other cars.
In other words if they made improvements you would be able to add that to your car.
So to answer your original question it shouldn’t make any difference “when” you buy or order a car.

I was paying close attention because I was seriously considering ordering one back 4 years ago along with my son.
RG statement about upgrading was a strong motivation to look closely at the Speed cars.

Hopefully this answer is helpful to you (if that’s what you really wanted?) even though I am not a Speed owner.

I don't post much, been a member for a long time, I feel those that post on this thread have different agendas, some just don't like Rob, some want him to fail, some want/bet on the car being a success, some just want pure data, and others just like to stir the pot....

Been going to Parker since 73, raced off road for nearly 20 years - Class10 & 1. No longer race. Arizona and Utah our playground for most things... hunting, fishing, boating, RV-ing.

That's about the same time I stared going to Parker. I was a Jr in HS.

I did put crew for my BIL in DP4 racing for a bit. We ride mostly the upper SoCal desert, but we've been all over.

You ever been to Joe's Valley in Utah? The Arapeen trail system?

If I were going to order one, probably right now would be a good time, it's gonna be a long while til you get it, and I'd assume they would have improved components of the car that are failing, as well as working out most of the bugs, unless they go out of business, which will suck.
The car has some issues, no lie there, and I'm worried mine will pop up at any given time.
That being said, the good parts of the car are REALLY good, the bad parts, are all fixable if Speed stays the course with warranty repairs and the speed at which they improve the parts and implement the changes as they learn of the failures.

Just my take , if I haven’t bought a car /deposit at this point and wanted one I would buy one of the ones people have in possession or wait till they catch up on production. At Speeds current pace, I wouldn’t feel comfortable having a deposit on one even if it’s a couple grand.
