So many like to bring up the windshield issue, yet how many with UTV’s actually run a windshield? I don’t see many in the desert myself.

How many realize the new Mav R can’t run a windshield unless you buy the Can Am roof and ducting kit. I haven’t seen a single Mav R with a windshield. Can’t run a windshield in the YXZ either. But no one ever talks about that.

I won't run without a windshield.

I hate a windshield 90% of the time. The only time I want one is in the winter in Ocotillo Wells riding around. Other than that no thanks. The Pro R is super easy to put one on and there are no issues with it :)

the car is "badass" but it falls apart, cant run more than a few hundred miles without the belt breaking. Engine failure at any time. Exhaust falls off the car. cant use a windshield. Constant leaks. but its badass lmao...

some of you need to go back to school on what is truly a great machine.

On a side note I figured I’d let everyone know that I bought a really bad ass rear window for mine. A lot of people were claiming that it solved the overheating problem.

It did not solve the problem. That said I am still very happy with the product. (Both the window and the car)

I know Dave loves his car and may think it is bad ass, but that wasn't what was said. The rear window is bad ass.

I think they look great, but how long before someone in TN of FL can buy one and get it serviced at a dealer? My wife would not want to ride without a windshield and for the most part neither would I.

7,500 miles on my can am - Windshield from day 1 !
I actually have 2 windshields in case one gets a rock chip / crack, I can quickly swap em out. So far replaced the glass twice, once per windshield

this helps w/ dust

I see some with windshields out in the dunes. Don't see many out in the desert. The cars get hot in the cab area when you run a windshield, but I could see them being handy in places like Havasu were you drive them on the streets.

As you pointed out the Maverick R requires the different roof and ducting, which means the engineers thought about issues that occur with running a windshield and came up with a solution.

My friend runs the quarter windshield on his YXZ.

We run a windshield along with most of our group. Ocotillo and the high desert get cold at night. Went the 1st season without it but now I doubt I’d drive another UTV without one. Got one because I like the one in my friends dejong monster manx after a long cold night ride.

Definitely very useful in Havasu driving on the streets so you don't get beat up cruising around at 50mph. After using it offroad though for a few seasons, I love having it. I can throw on my headsets and a pair of sunglasses and go off-roading and I don't have to jump in the shower when I get home.

I have never run a windshield, but have driven a few SXSs with them. It was nice when it was cold out, but most aftermarket windshields cut down the your sight lines.

They LOVE to add a LOT of fees .
Yeah they do.

*Advertised price includes all factory rebates and APS discounts (if applicable). Price excludes installed accessories, taxes, government fees, transport to dealer, setup charges, finance charges, dealer documentation fees, and manufacturer surcharges (if applicable).

Aren’t all first generation owners “beta testers”?

Yes, and no...

Some companies do Extensive testing in the real world before putting a product out to market.

From my Personal experience...

Toyota/Lexus is probably the best at this. BMW is probably the worst.

American vehicles? Do we even have to talk about that? 😜

I think everyone likes to hide behind these corporations.

Meaning Ford, GM, etc were garage companies at one point or another.

With the internet we get to take our shots at all sorts of businesses.

It’s pretty easy to talk about how Lexus operates today. All businesses have to start somewhere. It’s not easy and we have a “grass roots” person building the business. I’m shocked at the negativity to be honest.

Everyone expects perfection while they text on a “failure” of a phone (at one point in time). Also while they drive a failure of a vehicle at one point or another.

It’s ironic 🤣.

And I don’t care either way lol.

In full transparency I saw a post that nick olsen (chupacabra) said he probably wouldn’t buy one again.. I was kinda surprised to hear that
He's in Sand Hollow, he just changed the front diff on his Speed and he's taking out for a test run.

Personally...

I think all the criticism comes as a Direct result of the things that have come out of Mr Gordon's pie hole.

Fair enough lol. So are you saying that if the CEO had a little more “polish” it’s all good?

You’ve got a buddy who is waiting on a car (unfortunate circumstance) but you also believe that first generation buyers are beta testers. So…. Which is it lol?

I don't understand what the actual question is here?

If RG was less polarizing would SPEED be given a little more grace?

You’ve said that your buddy has been waiting for months/years on his car. And that’s unfortunate, but you also agree that buying a first year vehicle makes you a beta tester.

Shouldn’t he have known what he was getting into?

1. Of course!

2. Absolutely! If he would have asked me, I would have told him, no Fucking way are you doing this! That was years ago now? Needless to say, he Very much regrets his decision.

But is it a first year car? Some orange guy said here these cars won’t be released till they are perfect, and they are on generation like 5 in preproduction?
So are they first year cars for only the first year of deliveries?
Or all all pre orders (3000) considered first year “beta” cars?

Considering they can't change a whole lot without CARB approval...

🤔

But on a positive note, the suspension seems to be dialed. 👍🏼

He seemed like some of the luster was wearing off when his transmission went during his Glamis trip. In the recent video he seemed disappointed the heims were not lasting and the amount of maintenance needed compared to other SXSs.

So my first introduction to knowing who RG was visually was when I saw the video about him threatening to track down anybody talking shit and canceling their order....something like that. I was like WTF is wrong with this guy.....I thought it was a horrible attack on potential customers.

Has he been tracking down people and canceling orders?

For the record I decided not to buy a RG Edition RZR way back when.....I have known his name of course but never really followed any of the off road stuff.

The car hasn’t changed other than fixing issues? Meaning I believe a 22 car and a 25 car are the same except for “fixes”.

It seems to me that the “haters” (however you want to define that lol) want to hold SPEED to the standards of a well established corporation. While the reality is that it’s a start up.

You all are out of your mind buying these things lol. I never thought snow skiing would seem “cheap” lol.

He has tracked down one someone and threatened him with legal action.

My BIL saw the text messages on the guys phone.

Definitely sad.

The bigger issue was while talking about how great his product was going to be, he ridiculed his competition with a smugness that was off-putting at best.

I watched a few of his infomercials with my friend. I was shaking my head the whole time.

… but RG or his business acumen, or lack there of, has zero effect on the three of us.

None of us are in the market to purchase a Speed car.

The consumer will decide if they want to enter into an agreement with Speed. Not those of us not in the market.

The only issue I have is when someone is frustrated by a company owner that they never plan to do business with.

There is a longer list of boat manufacturers that make RG look like a choir boy. I’m not banging on them in a thread just because I think they’re an asshole.

If one of my closest friends didn't have one on order, I'd probably never even look at this thread, much less comment in it! 🤣

And I didn't say RG was an asshole...

Did you?? 🤔😁
