Breaking axles with stock tune and he's talking about getting the speed key?!?!? Oh boy.

I can’t figure out what they’re doing if it is in fact a broken axle. Got to be more to this story.

I heard he went into town last night and got a torch and other tools. He also talked to Robby on the phone and gave him some tips to try out this morning. He said he had to take the hub off to get the axle into place.

As of 4 hours ago he was starting to work on it. Not sure if he got it running today.

Broken axles are common if you keep you foot in the throttle when landing a jump. Also happens more with people that like to run in 2wd in the dunes.

Agreed! It’s like an outdrive when you air the boat out.

I still can’t figure out why he’s got the hub apart unless he broke the axle at the splines and couldn’t get it out at the hub.

I’ve disintegrated axles and never more than a 10 minutes to swap.

Not sure how those axles get removed on the Speed.

Im not a buggy dork so how do you remove the rear axle on the Speed normally? You cant just swing the trailing arm out like you can on other UTVs that use radius rods.

On my commander which had a swing arm like speed. I had to take the swing arm off to take the axle out and reverse to put it on

So it seems hes trying to unbolt the hub from the trailing arm so he can pull the hub out to get the axle in and then replace the hub. If thats the quickest way to change thats a huge disadvantage vs radius rods IMO.

Ya it doesn’t make sense what he’s doing. It’ll be interesting to see what this really is.

Well it does make sense lol. How else would you get the space needed to pull the axle out and get a new one in? Something has to give to get it open enough to clear the new axle. You either have to pull the trailing arm from front mounts and pull out or take the hub off....

This. ^^^

Looks like you have to pull that sleeve/caliper mount thing off to slide the complete axle out.

On that guys Instagram account, it looks like he has the upgraded brakes as well.

That's a bit of stuff to remove if you loose an axle or CV joint.

Seems like it would be easier to remove the shock bolt and trailing arm bolts?

Strange as you should not need to pull the bearing hub off to put a new axle in? Unless he damaged the bearing?

He’s had this car out several times as this was a second batch car. Been told Robby was called and already knows about this, even though he’s in Asia right now. I’m sure he’s going to want to see the part and I bet if it was an axle that broke, which would be the first to break. They will check production. Id bet they stress check a few, to make sure it’s not a production problem.

I would want to know if he was cruising the dunes and it broke or was he jumping it and did not take his foot off the throttle before he landed. Be more concerned if it broke just running the dunes.

If you have it in the air why not pull the shock? This is no different than a TT or Volkswagen.

A TT doesnt use this type rear suspension, they use Solid Axles. Maybe you mean a class 1 and 10 car style which is the same. I think They usually pull a trailing arm mount up front to get it to swing out.

Yes that’s what a meant, Class 1. Will be interesting to know what happened as this guy is making a mess of changing an axle.

not the same as a sandcar/1/10 car. The outer race of the CV bolts to the hub/tranny cup. so to change an axle you just un bolt it out .

these are like rzr/can am ends where they have a splined snub to into the hub/tranny.

That was quite the instagram post. He was really happy with the Speed car. Last post was the best! Car ran amazing till it didn’t - on the strap. lol…

It seems like it delivers on the handling for sure.

Funny he says in a post "in Glamis where the Speed UTV is at home". I could of swore RG said something about it not being a sand machine. LOL!!!

He was having fun till those bolts became a pain the ass to get out.

I'd been watching his IG all day, from "IM PISSED" I need a torch, somebody help me. To This is the greatest car ever, nothing compares to it, I'm a bad ass and flat foot it, to, I'm on a strap, "I'm not happy"

In his tow strap video, he said he had to jump start the car, probably left the battery/stereo on and killed the battery, then he said his fans weren't working. I'm guessing maybe he popped a fuse on the fan circuit back in the battery compartment.

This guy is an idiot it’s official.

Car is amazing!!! Nothing beats a speed car

Car is being towed by pro r

Later he says the resi on the pro are were too hot to touch and the speed were ice cold

I call bullshit, there no no section in Glamis that can heat up a shock to the point it’s too hot to touch

How can the car be AMAZING when it has to be towed

In one trip

Dead battery
Fan issue
Axle issue
Paddle tire issue (2wd, assuming to save axles)

Speaking of paddles. Why did he put the stock fronts on and run in 4wd?

Lol

After a good run resi's should be warm/hot. If not it means fluid is not moving through it and the extra oil of the resi is not being used. If his resi was really cool to the touch his shock body if he touched it would have been burning hot.

He could of run it in 4wd with the front dune tires and it would of worked just fine. Running the dunes in 2wd is a good way to heat up those CVs and kill boots.

Not going to defend this guy, although I have meet him several times in the dunes. He "IS" in person identical to his videos. Having said that, he has owned several utv's and buggies over the years, not that it matters.

But folks, he is a fan-boy, and this is rwg's customer base, like it or not.

But I will save anyone who hasn't watched the video yet, go to the 7th section, skip the butt kissing up to that point, its nauseating, well actually I take that back, watch it and you will experience the rwg loyalist to a T.

I posted a few helpful links to all the speed owners.

This last link is for a replacement belt for your buddy who will be towing you back.

Good shootout. Hard cuz owners are biased with their own car plus comfort in their own car.

One thing the speed does is suspension looks great when the maverick r is following it,

But don’t stand in front of it and expect it to stop. Speed braking distance is 50% higher than rest of field lol.
