Speed cars hit the assembly Line

The overall design of the car is great from geometry and design/concept. I truely applaud them on that.

With that being said. I have a big gripe about the cars at the show

First the orange and white “race car” front suspension was all scuffed from rubbing on plastic. ( needs to be addressed). Why bring that to the show and show something un finished?
Second- last years pre production cars. Why bring them vs the latest and greatest version. Ok you brought them good. At least refine the little things like the doors not opening/ closing nice. Crappy finish on the seats (wrinkled)
Third- I would have had displays (cut aways) to show how your car is superior in materials

Think front bulkhead/diff
Motor
Frame ect

Engine standing alone.
Shocks cut away ect.

Really be the star of the show.


People were awwwing and oohing over the car. Asked a few people what # they were. Most answered 2500+ i mentioned they will take delivery in 2025 lol. This leads me to my point. It used to be can am vs Polaris and now it’s can am/ Polaris vs speed. You are in one of those two camps and not both.

Speed is really missing the mark by not making deliveries this season (yet). I get it out of there control with epa/carb stuff. But nonetheless it is still a major let down. The more the pro r and turbo r make it out in the field. The less pool speed has. I don’t see people who bought a pro r or turbo r buying a speed down the road. Even if they do dominate. And at this point they are NOT dominating anything ( that is a fact!!!)

Didn’t spend to much time at the speed booth but did look at the cars. The doors aren’t aligned and that’s not because the didn’t latch them they all had the same gap as in the pictures posted before but if you push lightly on the top of the rear door it aligns pretty easy. They are the best looking of the stock cars right now in my opinion. The seats as mentioned looks like aftermarket covers you’d put over your stock seats on a truck not that great. They didn’t look as big as I expected but that is compared to the massive ( And ugly) pro R.
I didn’t look at what they were selling out of the rig but did they have any factory replacement parts on display? I’d think they’d want to start showing that especially with a car breaking at the show.


After seeing the motorcycle post I’d be nervous as a speed buyer! Hope Robbie doesn’t just start licensing Speed and walking away with the money.

When we walked away from the booth my exact statement to my son was 'i wouldn't buy one for 3-4 years after they are truly out'.
His reply 'the problem with that is think about what the other guys are currently working on'

This is true, and when this gets going they will catch up fast.. 2 factories, multiple continents, etc.

As I’ve said, every car they make will sell, but yet they are loosing potential share constantly.

The old cars were there specifically to compare that Gen car to the current Gen 5 cars.

If you think car 2000+ won’t be out by 2025 you’ll be as wrong as you were about the last 2 SSSS shows saying they won’t have cars there. No reason to even have an assembly line at that point if they are making 5 cars a day.

If I was you I wouldn’t buy one now anyway unless you bought a low spot in line. Of course the cars in 5 years will be better, a new Can Am is much improved over your car for instance.

Your entire stance depicts the entire industry but it is flawed. You are acting as if Speed won’t improve the car over time.


At some point you are just waiting to wait. Are you not buying a Pro R to see what Can Am comes out with for 2024? What about when that comes out and Polaris makes the Pro R better the next year? Do you wait for that?

I’m buying the car because it will be good and cheap. There is no “best”. There is however safe, and this car checks that box.

A proven company is nice, but all the proven companies make cars with proven failures, so what does that leave you with? You can get parts when you need them?

Speed is probably the best equipped car in terms of features. That is why I bought it. I don’t care if it is the 100% best car, because that does not exist. I can hang with most people in the car I have now.

The fact is they are going to sell every car they make, and if they have the business structured correctly the business will survive.

I’m 50/50 on my Xmas delivery bet, but I’ll have a car by the end of this season, yes. I’m like 350 in line and they have made over 100. Even at current build pace that pencils out.

Several years ago when word hit the street RG going to build vehicles to his specifications did all of you realize the situation of Hisun Motors involvement in the mass production of Speed cars?
There has been no doubt the qualifications of RG to build anything with wheels but right now obvious the the whole deal has been riding on one man. We are at the point of waiting to see if one man can pull this off at the level RG has brought Speed Car to.
i can only imagine the pressure this guy is under right now today at Sancho.

Deposit isn’t refundable, they will help you transfer/sell your spot for no fees however.

RG knows this stuff. I may not agree with his attitude at times, but he was a hell of a driver and knew what could break a truck off road. I just think that particular failure stems from production issues more than design flaws. The geometry is good, and in a custom built application those tabs would have only been left that way to cycle the suspension, then get dressed out. If this is an early production prototype unit, and has been repaired previously, I would think it has been addressed. Pre boxed, double shear mounts in bulk wouldn't be very expensive. When jigging the chassis to weld, wouldn't add more than a few minutes per unit.
I've seen countless pics of CanAm's and RzR's plowed in, looking like sad cartoons...on sand. Stuff breaks, the key is to get it to break less.

As for dropping out, life paths are different for different people. When others were living at home, going to school and working part time, I bought my house. 25 years later, always been able to find work, eat and always had a home. Not always easy, but I liked it overall.
I don't get to design many things, but get to redesign a lot of things guys with a diploma thought were perfect. Fixing stuff is pretty rewarding, and where people like me kind of fit in society.

I can recognize hard work and as most of you guys on here can as well. I think we all can agree that what has got this product to this point didn’t lack a lot of hard work. I won’t be a buyer until it has been out for a few years and have proven itself.

If he truly did address the tab issues on the new production line as was said, it would be good to quite all the commotion that is hurting him by posting videos what was made to address the issue.

I really hope he succeeds in his venture cause of all the hard work and also for the people that have made the deposits. If I was deposit holder , I would love to see what the improvements were and if not then what is going to be addressed to fix the unit I purchase before receiving it.
