The reason I'm asking is for comparative purposes. I'd hate to see an injector that was beyond 80% DC go static and melt the motor. The stock injectors were 26 lb / hr. If they are 502 injectors they are likely in the 36-42 lb/hr range. I use a 42 lb injector in a 377 and see around 12.4-12.5 above 5200 with a 7.9mSec bpw.

What spark did you max out at and did you leave the 40 degree advance in the 40 kPa column? I've had good luck with around 33-36 in the mid range cruise but it tapers to 33.8 at WOT.

We left the first column alone, as 40 kPa is basically no load or unobtainable in a boat; there is no decel load with a Bravo, the clutch overruns.

The 3 runs in the graph are 32, 34, and 36 degrees of timing @5200. The 4.175" bore liked the 36 timing. We'll check plugs and watch the knock sensor in the boat. This was with open headers and he has the aluminum logs w/stainless tails which flow pretty decent, so we'll see if we need to back any out. The TrashCan 355 (Hula's last propulsion unit) came off the dyno as tuned and ran pretty flawlessly other than no shift interrupt. The difference is this engine as dyno'd is +115 lb-ft and +104 HP from the TrashCan. I'm guessing he may notice...:D

Hey man, rereading what i posted sounded short. Sorry about that, it wasn't the intent. I honestly have such a very limited understanding of the "tuning" phase, I couldn't answer your question. This project was literally the first motor I ever helped assemble. I put my faith in the guys that know WTF they are doing, and hope to learn as much as possible in the process. Anyway, thanks for following along.

No, not a big deal. I just didn't have all the details which is why I was asking. Basically my assumptions on parts (injectors) was wrong. I love watching this project grow.

So duratec is a gel coat additive. It helps it flow better, and acts as a surfacing agent. That means you don't have to add surfacing wax, and it also sprays pretty damn nice.
It ran me around 90 bucks for a gallon of it, and you can use it 50/50, or 75/25 to mix with your gelcoat. I mixed 12 oz gel, 12 oz of duratec, and catalyzed it with 2%mekp, or around 11cc. The duratec has to be kicked as well as the gel, so you add mekp to the total amount.

I used a $40 spray gun... 2.0 tip.

It's a little Orange peel, but ain't too shabby. 20170629_095125.jpg

I noticed the old motor in the back ground. Why didn't you want to use the hat and intake off that motor for the new one? Non Vortec head issue?

Lol... remember the clearance issue I had with the stock plenum? I had to use a k&n aur filter to miss the water hose to the exhaust riser....

Both motors have vortec heads. They're the same. Except displacement, and the new one has better internals.

I'm considering putting the old motor into a jeep Cherokee, that'd be painted to match the hula, and using it to tow to the lake. Time will tell...

Me too... there's some "stuff" coming up, that quite frankly I can't wait to share...

I learned my lesson last year, in as much as not rushing to get to the water. I didn't have lights on the gauges, no interior lighting, etc. I'm not splashing it until it's done, and it's right.

I have to take it to an event that I've been invited to in another state next week, and I will not be letting those people down.

Using contact cement to hold the foam to the plywood.
I've predrilled the holes in the plywood, to accomodate the bolts. I then pressed 1/4" ss t nuts into the plywood. Going to use some "sidewalk" bolts to attach it to the rear bulkhead. Id never heard of them before. I guess they're used to board up windows in hurricane country. 20170701_100622.jpg

Then i took a sanding roll in the die grinder, and removed the wonderful mercury black paint.

1/16" 2% lanthanated tungsten, 90 amps, 308L filler and ZERO fuks given. I'll let it cool, give it the once over on the buffing wheel, then check it for leaks.

You will want to mill or grind the outside of the bung flat so the compression seal will work. Also the inside, make it smooth to remove turbulence.

I am sure you know that, just saying it..because, lol. :D

Looks like you got great penetration though! :thumbup:

I literally just dropped that riser off at hydroskreamins place. He has access to a mill, and will spot face, amd pressure check it for me tomorrow. 🤘🤘🤘

Hope to be getting this cal ironed out on friday.

Threw battery clips on the power wires. Im treating this gauge like a tool, which is what it is. I dont want it permanently mounted. When everything is running properly, it'll get put in the toolbox, next to the fuel pressure gauge, ready to be used on the next project.😉

I'm going to be a strong advocate of mounting the AFR gauge in the dash for full time use. When or if you start having issues that gauge can be extremely helpful in diagnosing whether the problem is fuel or spark related. It has personally helped me in that regard one time.
