Tell me that has a 302???

I knew a few of those in the day that 302s in them.

The first car I learned to drive in was a 73 Pinto - chocolate brown / tan

Without the V8!

Hate to blow your buzz, but I wanted something different and built the 2.3. Cam, header, carb, adjustable cam sprocket, bored. Fun car 'till the fun wore off.

That 2.3 is a great engine. Sometimes it's fun to wring a little banger out. I've been tossing the idea around of using the Ecoboost crate in my next rod. 300hp in a light track t could be fun.

This is my project. It's a 1968 Chevelle SS396
I bought it in 2005 on ebay. It was up in Placerville so I lucked out having Preacher and Smalls up there to check it out for me. I paid $12,500 + $700 to have the owner deliver to my so cal door step.

I have no plans of making this car really fast because I don't want to cut it up or drill it for a cage. All I wanted was a throwback to my younger days, cruise night car to raise the kids with. Somebody it will get a nice paint job. :)

It's great seeing these rides. You guys are killing me with the Chevelles though. I had to let this one go during the recession. It got put in a box and sent to Australia. It was supposedly a real '70 SS, but someone else cut it up before I got to it, and the 70's were really hard to track the SS features. I drove the wheels off of this thing every weekend. Jerry even has a quick video of us off roading it at an Irvine Lake V-drive deal. It wasn't that fast because the hard tires wouldn't hook up for anything, but it was loud and had the cam and compression to make it crackle pretty good.

Please share your pre 1975 Hot Rods and muscle cars and feel free to include unfinished projects as well as older sports cars or classics. Post some pics we haven't seen already (if possible). Give details as well as how long you've owned them, where you take em and what their used for. I know a lot of you guys have some bitchin vintage cars so let's see 'em. :thumbsup Modern drive trains ok. :D

Would pre 90s sandrails be almost the same as a pre 75 hot rod lol.

Thanks for the picture Jerry. I didn't know that the event was going to be in the back finger of the lake that year with a half mile of dirt trail to get there, but I wasn't going to miss it. Those were some good times at Irvine.

That's a bit of a stretch. Meyers Manx is ok though..:)

It's a Manx clone as far as I know. My wife snapped these real quick right after I bought my hose and sold it. It was finished once, spent a bunch of time cruising around the Springs and Parker then never finished the second redo. I'd be tempted to build another, they are a blast.

These are the only pics in it's first iteration, at the springs, being followed by the Harley golf cart.

Did you make it over to Hot August Nights this year? Still loving Reno?
Going tomorrow and Saturday when our kids get here from Nor Cal. I'm not much for Reno, but we're absolutely loving the Carson Valley. Saw you were up this way. Make some time to come by next time you're here.

I mean Reno Area. I guess it’s a big difference between the communities like Pomona to LaVerne heights. 😂

Sharp Shooter....That was a BADASS 68 Chevelle you posted in 2017. do you still have it? I had a 68 SS same color blue. My best friend had a fathom green 69 396 375 that he sold to his little brother. He wrapped it around a telephone pole after only having it a couple of months, so I found a clean 68 SS body that we put the 69 396 and Turbo 400 in. It had black interior and the horseshoe shifter.

This was around 1979 so it got 8-10 mpg during the era of the double nickel speed limit. I ended up painting it Fathom Green metallic with Imron right after Imron paint came out. That was the same color his 69 was before little brother wrecked it. Had the SS raised cowl hood. The green was so dark it looked black at night.

If I had enough room in my garage I'd have one of those right now. Here's a pic of it after I sold it to my little brother.

I'll post up some more pics of my 67 Camaro that I still have sitting in my garage. Bought it in '77.....still have it 47 years later.

Great story! Looking forward to the Camaro pics!

I still have the Chevelle and don't plan on ever selling it. Color is Island Teal with teal interior. Was yours a stick or auto?

That green reminds me of a friends '68 malibu. 👍

Beautiful, love the SS wheels.

Mine was Turbo 400 3 speed with the console and horseshoe shifter. 396 375 horse square port heads with Doug Thorley headers, Edelbrock single plane intake and a Holley 750 double pumper. Ran pretty good for just having 3.73 gears and NMW ladder bars. Of course Hijacker Air shocks.....it was '79

Here's a few Camaro pics. I have many pics of the full build. I took it down to the bare shell, had the subframe powder coated. Replaced every body panel except hood, roof and 1 door skin. Flattened the firewall. Replaced main floor pan and trunk pan. All new grey tinted glass, American Autowire kit. & new Stainless Rick's fuel tank. Took me and Best of Show in San Marcos about 2 years after it was painted. Wheels are Boze ProTour 18x8 front, 19x9.5 rear, AutoMeter gauges in stock Camaro dash
Trans is TKO600 5 speed by Liberty Gears with slick shift kit, suspension is all Hotchkis, Global West, QA1, Baer 4 Wheel disk brakes, Power windows, cup holders 😁
Paint is Mercedes Brilliant Silver last of the polyurathane paint. Mast Motorsports LS3

Swapped out the factory bench for some TMI buckets so I can fit my tall ass in the car:

Threw in some Dakota Digital gauges, which required the ENTIRE fucking dash to be taken out lol:

Shes been sitting for a while because I have so many irons on the fire. Needs the fuel regulator replaced but I’ll be damned if I can find the time… But I’ve got QA1 coilovers and drop spindles for the front (rear is already QA1) and some other little things I need to install. I don’t care for the wheels on the car so I had some custom forged ones made up:
