Money is the wrong reason. If I had your;e money I could burn mine!!! But change doesn't burn, it just melts? You already have all the right reasons to kick that habit. Just get-er done. As I stated LBL. Being in Lost Wages doesn't help but a good place to realize the habit smokes flock you up. Just look around!! Again keep with it, LBL will get it done.

Now that's a goal worth waiting for.

I really do hope you quit those coffin nails. When I was a kid they passed a health human lung, then a smokers lung. I know thats why I never touched them. Neither has anyone else I stayed in contact with from that class

I don’t think I even knew you were a smoker...I sure hope everything turns out okay with you. Keep us update.

Dave’s in there now. Hoping this works for him.

I just got home from spending the entire day in the ER. xrays, scans, additional blood works etc. Thankfully everything is good except the clots in my lower leg. Several doctors came in and gave the same advice, treatment schedule. I hope to be recovered by February. Wake up call David. You are only a few years behind me with the same issues. Drinking, smoking and overweight. Seriously brother, it is painful. I'm not stating this to be insulting, just letting you know what's ahead. I thought, I'll just deal with it then. Wish I hadn't. I'm dealing with it now and I am scared to (hopefully not) death.

I think it is time to let RD not respond anymore on this thread.
Just update us in the next day, week and month if it still is working, so we aren’t tracking your status hourly.
Can’t remember which member had the purchase how long RD lasts without a smoke bet going :) those betting under an hour already lost!

Well I can’t tell ya if it worked or didn’t? It’s been an hour and a half and I’m not climbing the walls yet so that’s a good sign. At this point I would say it was definitely worth the 500 bucks though.

Stacy asked me and I told her I don’t think I can be hypnotized. That said I walked out of there and I’m not smoking and my shirt is the brightest red ever.. lol. (It’s one of the things she told me was that the color red would be bright and help with smoking).

So maybe I was?
Did she at anytime mention "GRADS for Moderator"?

Dave you need to lock down this thread. Answering cigs questions and health issues will only make you think about smoking. jmho

I live in Havasu and am in the boat industry.. lol. If I can’t be around it and talk about it I’d better get to selling rdp on the quick because I’m screwed. Lol

Good luck Dave!!!

My dad went through the same procedure over 30 years ago. He was an over the road trucker smoking non-stop. He has never picked one up since! I never smoked anything I can’t relate to the urges. But I am grateful that all the people I love, no longer smoke.

I agree. He should just do it, leave us out of it and let others around him tell about his successes.
Later on he can proclaim his no smoking lifestyle. At that point nobody needs to tell him how he should do it.

It’s interesting to read other people’s stories of both success and failure. It’s also interesting to hear how some people found it easy with chantix, and others with xyz method.

The one thing I have taken most from the thread is there are different types of smokers and different types of fixes to quit smoking and you have to find one that works for yourself personally.

I tried Wellbutrin and failed.
I tried patches and failed. (Many times)
I tried cutting back and failed (many times)
I tried cold turkey and failed (many times)

I was going to go for chantix, but tried this before I got the drug prescribed.

All yesterday afternoon I didn’t even want a cigarette. The thought of them crossed my mind, but I wasn’t climbing out of my skin.

When I got home it kind of set in, I suppose because of routines where I always smoked? There was quite a few times where I’d say to myself “I’m going to go smoke” but I just looked at my red shirt, and said I’m a non smoker and more or less just pushed through it.

This morning I walked out to my truck and the cigarette smoke from Kathleen smoking in the backyard didn’t smell very good to me. It kind of punched me in the face when I walked out of the garage to be honest.

I have been in and out of my truck four times now and haven’t smoked or even really desired one. I’m down at a health center and a guy just walked in and he smells like a smoker to me.. lol. Kind of bizarre saying that shit being that even yesterday I wouldn’t have noticed?

It’s still pretty early on to say I’m 100% done. I think anyone that has gone through quitting and struggled can tell you how it can be day to day, hour to hour, or even sometimes minute to minute. What I will say is this has been, of the different methods I have tried in the past l, the easiest way so far and I was telling Stacy I don’t even think I was ever hypnotized.. lol. Who knows?

Every time the thought comes into my head I just change the subject.. and every time I get some kinda craving I just look at my red shirt. :D. (WTF? I don’t give a shit it’s working)

Day 2. And I’m not going nuts or banning anyone so I’d say that’s worth 500.00

Stacy said something about that she requested they also include hypnotizing you to do laundry?

Honestly the way she does it I could see it solving a variety of problems, if you actually want to solve the problem.
You said it RD in the last part of your statement. Keep that thought and don't give into temptations or urges or whatever. You are stronger then you know you are if you put your mind to it. The brain is the most powerful part of the body!

The third day is the worst. Get by that and it's a slow crawl down hill Not saying it's over but at this point pick-up tooth picks or straws and chew or suck on the straws, It keeps your'e hands busy and makes the mind think it's smoking. Hang in their bud you can kick this and look back and wonder why you ever picked up smoking in the first place. M

You've got this Dave.

I quit 26 years ago when my wife told me she was pregnant with our daughter. A couple years before, after a cigarette, my niece had told me that I stunk. I never forgot that and when the time came I knew I did not want to ever hear that from my kid. I too went to a Hypnotist with a friend at the time, she was smoking the next day and I never smoked again. I still can't tell you if it was the hypnotism or just will power.

To this day my daughter still tells me that she saved my life.

I'm gonna say this,... over 30 years ago, I quit smoking, and drinking...and here's what happened..I had no tolerance for cig smoke at all...my sense of smell was off the hook....I couldn't be any where near where someone was smoking...horrible...we used to go to the santa fe casino to eat breakfast and i'd have to hold my breath to get through the smoking section to get to the restaurant... but I'm also gonna say this..I never ever got over the urge to light up...I think once you smoke, that never really goes away...So,.. I raised my sons and they moved out...started back drinking rum and coke now and then...which turned in to drinking a lot of rum and coke... which turned into hanging at bars and being around smokers.. which turned into smoking while I was drinking, which turned into smoking all the time again.... gotta say this... I enjoy it... cut out the rum and coke and went to moderate beer drinking... some days none,... some days a couple..I've drank till drunk a few times with beer... but most of the time I cut it short to not waist the next day....nothing gets done when you are hung over,... and the over buzz of drunk is not worth the hang over..so there I am... right back where I started..I used to be that guy...I could easy not drink the first beer,... but once I started... it was on... some times it was for days..drink till drunk, party like a rock star... then keep going … many of times I was late for work because I'd walk out the bar and the sun was up... vegas baby... it never stops..so what i'm gonna say... to quit smoking.... you have to quit drinking....quiting smoking takes will power,... and you loose that when you drink..one the the hardest things to change is how to have fun when you don't drink... fuc'n borring..but, when you get over that hump you find out that you remember what you did...life is a lot more fun that way.. nowing that you have the freedom to go do what ever you want and not get arrested for DUI...yeah, you get to be the one that hauls all the drunk fucs home,.. and get up in the morning to go get their car...

so where i'm at now,... even though I like smoking... there's no where to do it..not in the car, not in the house, not in the restaurant, not in the bar, in cal, not even out side.....so, if there's a will.... there's away....lol..in vegas..you can eat a steak and eggs breakfast, drink a beer, smoke a cig...and play video poker..lol… you guessed it..now add gambling to the pot...

so what I did.... I started the JUUL vape...pretty much you can smoke them anywhere...they don't do the cheech and chong big plume of smoke...but they do have nicotine..I found this, I don't drink as much,..I don't cough as much,.. and I don't gamble as much.. So is it good??? I would say not.... but it is a betterment

Learning to have fun with out drinking took a while. Drinking I was the life of the party not drinking I was angry and anxious. But like you said once you get over that hump and realize you don’t need to drink to have fun it pays off. While everyone is drinking making a fool of themselves I sit back and watch. For me my big thing now is if I’m not sober who’s taking care of my family if something goes down. I need to have all my senses to make sure I’m in control. Then there’s the hang overs. I’m up at 6 am feelin great while the rest of the crew is trying to figure out where they are and what happened.

The wife works in speciality cancer treatment at USC.
If anyone would like to be her guest and visit lung cancer patients she’d be glad to have you.
I’m not supposed to mention they can control some forms of it.

I watched my mom die of it.
I rented an oxygen machine and ran the hoses up to her room when she looked and felt perfectly normal but we knew what was to come.
And it came.

Now some hospitals put the patient to sleep thus they die in their sleep but that’s controversial and may not be available.
It’s a MFSOB way to go.
Brutal.

While I'm now too old to be fun (Get the fuck off my lawn!), I have enjoyed life immensely in the 24 years I've been sober. On January 1st, it'll be 20 years since I used tobacco.

Don't feel I have missed a thing.

These possibilities are out there for everyone, but you gotta hang on tight to keep them. I hope you'll try.

In elementary or Jr High you ever know kids who’s parent died?
It puts this dark cloud over their head they never can shake.
It’s really tough on kids to lose a parent and the residual effect linger and lingers.

Are you saying you fell off the wagon already? If so then jump back on and beat this thing. You have more support than most people so you should have a better chance than most.

Oh I’m still quitting. Just not sure a nervous breakdown in front of half of Havasu at my house right now is the best idea
