We brought Liberty home Veterans day, born on 9/11 (hence the name), she's a handful and can't wait to get her to the river!

Remy is about 7 years old and started limping. Rear leg, took him to our vet, who referred us to an orthopedic surgeon. He has a torn ACL. Has any one had any experience? Success? Downside?

The hardest part is keeping the dog calm after surgery to give it time to heal. I had to have it done three times on one dog because he tore the repair on one leg and had to have it redone.

A littermate of my dog also had it, but the owner chose not to do surgery and just lived a mellow, quiet life, got used to it after a while.

Anyone have a recommendation for grain free chicken free dog food. It’s harder to find than you think.
Luna is getting these blisters around her eyes and everyone I talk to say it’s the food. I guess grain and chicken allergies are common View attachment 1360452

I use diamond naturals, large breed lamb and rice, and it has worked well for my pups with allergies. Sometimes you just have to try different foods. I don’t think the allergy tests are very reliable. At least my and my veterinarians experience.

Dags. Maggie will lay anywhere on the couch except on the towels. Approaching a year of her showing up at the house as a stray and becoming our little ball of energy. Shes an absolute sweetheart, but a jealous little bitch. Poor charlie cant never get any direct attention, she has to butt right into the middle of everything.

Over the years I've had 5 English bulldogs, 1 French and 1 American. All were fantastic pooches but the vet bills were killing me. When these guys passed I got a collie because they are healthy. I only go to the vet once a year for vax shots'

So this happened yesterday. 10.5 weeks old. She is a granddaughter to my daughters dogs sister who we recently lost. When she was born I was told she had a puppy for me. I didn't know any of the details, but if she's sending me a dog it must be special. I really don't have words to express the gratitude, but will give this little one a life to remember. We are back to a 3 dog pack.

Daughter brought her pup out to Havasu. Their first 24 hours together is a shit show. Gets better through the weekend.

So this past Monday evening, I'm at my cabin, talking to a buddy in the front yard. As we're chatting, this little dude sneaks up behind me, lays down, legs up in a totally submissive position and just stays there. I'm assuming he wandered off from someone having a picnic in the park that's nearby. Odd because the weathers pretty shitty.
After a thorough search ... nope - no one is around. So what to do with this guy. After a closer inspection; he's some sort of un neutered collie, no collar, f.u.l.l. of ticks, filthy (he'd been near a skunk) and pretty under nourished.
Gave him a bath and picked as many ticks off him as I could find. He cleaned up very nicely. We have a friend who lost her retriever this past winter so we asked if she'd keep this guy over night to not cause any stress with our big doodle - and she was happy to.
Tuesday morning my wife took him to the vet for a check up and to get some tick meds. Their diagnosis; no chip, probably a 5 month old collie.... and highly likely he's a res dog that wandered about 10 miles through the forest to get where I found him.
Still wondering what to do with him; we see he's super friendly, appears to be border collie smart and great looking.
Turns out our friend that lost her retrieve couldn't give this guy up

My sister went and rescued this dog from the pound in St.Louis yesterday. Said it took them a month to catch her and then they had to surgically remove the embedded collar. And a chunk of her ear is missing as well. She is gonna have an incredible life now.

Well he was bit in the face by another dog, sad part was they didn’t even know it till the wife saw it when they brought him out picking him up.

Vaca is cancelled and he needs this damn cone on for 10 days.

I know that feeling. My boy was bit in the face too. Mostly because he was being bullied when another dog tried to steal his water and he snapped at him. They’ve also gotten sick a few times as well.

I HIGHLY recommend you check the neighborhood pages for a good dog sitter that will stay at your house and watch your pup for you. Literally one of the best things we’ve ever done. My dogs are 100x happier these days, have someone playing with them and only them, and are there day and night just in case something happens. It’s also half the price of good boarding.

We tried to find people on Rover but after a few interviews I didn’t feel comfortable taking my pups to someone elses house, especially if they brought in other dogs as well.

When the wife brought him back in to ask what happened. They had no idea, they seamed concerned, but also tried to down play it. They have an idea of the dog that did it as there were only 4-5 dogs in this play area and 2 out of those are ours.

We just submitted the emergency bill to them, and told them the follow visit bill will be coming Wednesday. So far 1900.00 in vet bills.

It’s just worse as we were flying out this am to Cabo for 10 days with family and we had to cancel the trip.

They could, but we have a guest room for him to sleep in. We bought pillows, sheets, comforter, etc. specifically for our sitter. No food or anything, just money.

Think of a house sitter that watches the pups at the same time. We have a community Facebook page and he/ his family had glowing reviews from multiple people. I wouldn’t have done it otherwise.

Thank you. They are truly amazing dogs. Catahoula is the breed. It’s the Louisiana state dog bread for heading wild bore. Spectacular family dogs and naturally extremely protective over the family. We have another grown that we socialize with everyone and she’s great. Protective but a little to friendly with strangers. We are going to keep these pups non socialized except with our direct family so they protect our property and my wife and kids since I work so much at night. My sister breeds them so we have great blood line pups.

Well, Rosie drew blood today during a protection training session. The trainer admitted it was his fault, as he put his hand (with no protective gear) within her range (I did have her under proper control). He told me, as he was headed out to get stitches, that it was his 5th time in 47 years. The other trainer present was immediately telling me to praise Rosie because she did her job, but I was shocked so it took me a moment to react. I’ve been wondering if she’d follow through, as we haven’t yet done intentional bite training, and now I know.

EDIT: The trainer just sent me a picture of his hand. I’ll spare you that, but suffice to say that it couldn’t be stitched up, as there was too much meat missing, though it will heal. He also called me, and is cool about it, knowing it was his fault.
