Went to Augies last time I was there and food was good and kid friendly as I remember, over near the Costco.

If only you had a vehicle to go check out hassayampa lake between potato patch and senator highway. Cabins like this with a private lake.

I dont recommend taking a nice vehicle. You will make it but its very tight, 1 lane with pull outs and very bumpy but doable even in a AWD car 2wd car when its dry.

We have Stacy’s Denali.. I’m not real interested in trashing her truck though

Its not open yet but someone is building an airstream rv VRBO/AIRBNB park south of town on whiskey row. Pretty cool concept. Dont worry no actual airstreams were sacrificed. But yeah my guess is that place will be a money maker. Literally 1/4 block south of whiskey row.

If you want a bit of a drive, but cool, jump over 89A into Jerome. If kids, wife or dog get car sick, may not be the best. It's a typical 2 lane mountain road.

At the top of Mingus Mountain, there are roads both north and south. Dusty, but very wide, nice dirt roads. The one that heads south, has some really nice vistas, and you can drive to within 50 feet of them. My favorite is the hang glider "launch pad"...it's a steep sidewalk to a serious drop. You can see the red rock faces of Sedona from there. It's maybe 5 miles from the turnoff.

From the top of Mingus, heading NE, some curves and then BAM, you turn into Jerome. Haunted Hamburger has pretty good food. The town itself is like an old west Laguna...kind of weird. It was an old mining town, cut into the side of the mountain. Sometime in the 60's, hippies moved in, and since all types have moved in. Candy shops, tourist traps and art galleries.

...and yes, when it's near 100 here we whine a bit. It seems to be 15-20 degrees cooler here than Phoenix or the river. Great this time of year, but when you guys get a light frost...it's damn cold here🤣

Lazy G's Brewery is good. If you want really unique food try El Gato Azul; amazing! You are not far from Jerome and that's a must. Clinkscale has a great breakfast with 99c Mimosa's.

So we took the dog today and by the time we got back down to the square a lot of the shops were closed.. we walked around and love this place!

They had some outside music thing going on in the grass.

Tomorrow we r going to check out some of the lakes..

The internet is very very slow uploading pics downtown. Seems faster at the cabin for some reason.

I've heard that from @Flyinbowtie many times. It's one of the reasons he wants to move!

I couldn't deal with living in the desert. I need the wind in the pines. 😎
In '12 we started looking out here. There had just been a pretty big fire in the hills south of Prescott. That image pretty much made us think twice. I think the pines are good for vacations and holidays, but to us, too risky for a primary home. That said, there are a couple outfits that do fire prevention work. Everything from tree trimming and ground clearing, to plumbing perimeter sprinklers.
I love the trees, but they aren't too far away!

You know Exactly where in want to be...

I have been watching that area like a hawk, but after my recent Idaho trip, let's say it has made me think.

You could check out the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial while you are in the area. It's on my "to-do" list but have not made it there yet.

I’m not walking seven miles anywhere regardless of temps.. I think people forget I’m crippled. Lol

I know bro. That's why I didn't suggest it.

If you haven't seen the movie Only The Brave, you should try and watch it tonight. Its, moving.

For anyone is saying this is hot.. this isn’t hot. Lol. Havasu is the surface of the sun right now. We are walking around and didn’t even break a sweat.

No shit. Spent a few days in Paso Robles (110+ everyday) then to the river (120 +/- for a couple days. Felt great coming back to So Cal yesterday, currently 96. LOL

Lynx Lake, or Goldwater Lake.

Lynx is $5. Free on Wed. The Cafe isn't open until Thursday.

Goldwater is $3.

Both are well forested & cooler. Lynx is larger & has a better walking trail.

Well we went to Goldwater lake.. pretty cool spot!

Then we kept driving farther away and found something called a “fuel break” basically a kinda fire road deal.. went a few miles out and let the dog run around and just be in nature etc..

Cabin is on the way back to town so we stopped and are leaving the dog.. gonna hit the mall maybe? Get an oil change.. mainly not sweat my balls off in havasu lol
